NFTfi Review 2026: Shut-Down NFT Lending, Loans Still On-Chain

NFTfi was a peer-to-peer NFT lending protocol on Ethereum. It has shut down: the dApp is no longer in operation, though the contracts remain deployed so open loans can still be settled on-chain.

Our verdict on NFTfi

NFTfi is no longer a product to use. It was a peer-to-peer NFT lending protocol on Ethereum, and its dApp has closed to new loans, offers, refinancing and extensions. This review is mainly useful for existing borrowers and lenders, who can still repay or foreclose directly through the contracts using the team's wind-down guide. Anyone seeking NFT-backed loans should look at other active platforms and check them independently.

What is NFTfi?

NFTfi was a peer-to-peer NFT lending protocol on Ethereum, listed on DefiLlama in the NFT Lending category since November 2022. It let people borrow against NFTs or lend against them.

The official homepage now carries a final notice saying the NFTfi dApp is no longer in operation. New loans, offers, refinancing and extensions are unavailable. The page thanks users and points to the full announcement on X.

The smart contracts remain deployed on Ethereum mainnet. The notice says the wind-down does not affect loans users still hold, which can be repaid or foreclosed directly on-chain. DefiLlama shows about $14,900 in TVL, which is consistent with a protocol in run-off.

How NFTfi works

NFTfi was a peer-to-peer lending protocol. A borrower locked an NFT in a smart contract as collateral, and a lender offered a loan against it with terms such as amount, duration and interest. If the borrower repaid in time, the NFT was returned. If not, the lender could foreclose and claim the NFT.

The frontend has now been closed. Because the contracts are on Ethereum mainnet and are not tied to the website, the repay and foreclose functions still work on-chain. Users have to call them directly, using the guide the team published.

New offers, refinancing and extensions are no longer available, so the protocol is in run-off: existing loans can only be settled, not renewed.

4 features

Key features

01

Peer-to-peer NFT loans

The protocol matched borrowers and lenders directly. Borrowers used NFTs as collateral for loans negotiated through offers.

02

Persistent on-chain contracts

Smart contracts on Ethereum mainnet remain deployed, so outstanding loans can be repaid or foreclosed without the website.

03

Wind-down guide

The team published a guide on GitHub explaining how to interact with the contracts directly during the wind-down.

04

Audits listed

DefiLlama lists two audits for the protocol, though the project does not name the auditors.

Pros and cons

What we like

  • The team gave a clear final notice explaining the shutdown
  • Contracts stay deployed on Ethereum, so open loans are not locked behind the website
  • A wind-down guide exists for settling loans directly on-chain
  • DefiLlama lists two audits for the protocol
  • Repay and foreclose rights are described as unaffected

Watch out for

  • The dApp is shut down, so no new loans, offers, refinancing or extensions are possible
  • Remaining loans must be repaid or foreclosed by interacting with contracts directly, which is harder than using a web interface
  • TVL is only about $14,900 per DefiLlama, so almost no activity is left
  • No front-end support means users must rely on a wind-down guide and their own wallet skills
  • The project does not say how long the contracts will stay usable or who maintains the guide

NFTfi fees

NFTfi's fee schedule is not, and since the dApp no longer takes new loans, fees for new activity no longer apply.

Anyone settling an existing loan on-chain will pay Ethereum gas for the transaction. Loan terms such as interest are set in the loan itself and can be checked in the contract data or the wind-down guide.

Is NFTfi safe?

The main risk now is operational, not market-based. With no frontend, users must call contracts directly, where a wrong address or mistaken transaction could be costly. Use only the guide linked from the official notice, and be wary of impersonators offering help in DMs.

DefiLlama lists two audits, but the project does not name the auditors or say when they were done, so treat that as limited information. The project does not mention any hack or exploit. Public sources also do not say how long the team will keep the guide available.

6 steps

How to get started with NFTfi

  1. 1

Confirm you have an open NFTfi loan, either as borrower or lender, from your wallet history.

  2. 2

Open the official NFTfi notice and follow only the link to the wind-down guide it provides.

  3. 3

Read the guide fully before sending any transaction.

  4. 4

Connect the wallet that holds the loan position to the contracts as the guide describes.

  5. 5

Repay or foreclose the loan on-chain, and keep enough ETH for gas.

  6. 6

Verify contract addresses against the official guide and avoid unofficial links or support offers.

Who NFTfi is for

This page is for people who still have an open NFTfi loan as a borrower or lender, and for researchers tracking the NFT lending sector. It is not for new users, since the service no longer accepts new activity.

NFTfi FAQs

Has NFTfi shut down?

No. The homepage says the NFTfi dApp is no longer in operation and that new loans, offers, refinancing and extensions are not available.

Can I still repay an NFTfi loan?

Yes, per the final notice. The smart contracts remain deployed on Ethereum mainnet, and outstanding loans can be repaid or foreclosed directly on-chain.

How do I interact with the NFTfi contracts now?

The notice points to a wind-down guide on GitHub, published by the NFTfi team, that explains how to interact with the contracts on-chain. Follow only the guide linked from the official notice, as lookalike pages are a common scam.

What happens to my NFT collateral?

The project does not say. They only state that the wind-down does not affect loans you still hold and that the contracts remain deployed.

What about the NFTFI token?

The project does not describe any ongoing use of the NFTFI token or its utility after the shutdown. DefiLlama lists NFTFI as the token, but no further detail is given.
