Our verdict on Levana Perps

3.8/10

Levana Perps was a straightforward perpetual swap platform for Cosmos-ecosystem chains, with documentation, a staking token and listed audits. It now suits only existing users who want to unstake, claim or withdraw funds. The main caveat is the wind-down: the foundation is closing, the product is moving to maintenance mode, and tracked TVL is only about $14,000. New traders are better off choosing a perpetuals venue with active development and deeper liquidity.

What is Levana Perps?

Levana Perps is a crypto-collateralized perpetual swap platform. The name is short for 'Leverage any Asset'. It was built for the Cosmos ecosystem and is listed on Sei, Osmosis, Injective and Neutron, with a stated focus on low fees and real yield.

The project is now winding down. A public post from a Cosmos ecosystem account says the Levana Foundation is winding down and Levana Perps is transitioning to maintenance mode on Osmosis. A governance page also mentions the upcoming launch of a product called Ruji Perps and says users can unstake, claim and withdraw vesting and staked LVN.

Tracked TVL is about $14,000, so the platform holds very little capital today. Its token is LVN, and the project has been tracked since September 2023.

How Levana Perps works

A perpetual swap is a derivative that tracks an asset's price without an expiry date. A trader posts collateral and opens a leveraged long or short. Gains and losses are settled in crypto, and the position can be liquidated if the collateral no longer covers losses.

Levana's documentation describes two market types. In one, the collateral is also the quote asset, so the same token prices the base asset and backs the trade. Liquidity providers supply funds that act as the counterparty to traders, and they earn fees and yield but can lose value when traders win.

The contracts run on Cosmos-ecosystem chains. LVN holders can stake the token and vote on proposals through a governance site.

Key features

01

Perpetual swap trading

Users take leveraged long or short exposure to an asset through perpetual swaps, which have no expiry date.

02

Crypto-collateralized markets

Positions are backed by crypto collateral. The documentation describes market types where the collateral is also the quote asset.

03

Multiple chains

Tracking data lists deployments on Sei, Osmosis, Injective and Neutron, all in or near the Cosmos ecosystem.

04

Low-fee, yield focus

The project describes itself as aiming for low fees and real yield for liquidity providers, though no fee numbers are given on the homepage.

05

LVN staking and governance

Holders can stake LVN and take part in governance proposals on a dedicated governance site.

A multitool offers frontend helper utilities for different use cases, linked from the main site.

Pros and cons

What we like

  • Clear purpose: leveraged perpetual swaps on assets, with crypto collateral.
  • Ran across several Cosmos-ecosystem chains, including Osmosis, Injective, Sei and Neutron.
  • Public documentation covers market types and trading mechanics.
  • Tracking data lists two audits.
  • Governance pages let LVN holders unstake, claim and withdraw.

Watch out for

  • The Levana Foundation is winding down and Levana Perps is moving to maintenance mode on Osmosis, so new development is unlikely.
  • Tracked TVL is only about $14,000, which suggests very thin liquidity for leveraged trading.
  • Leveraged perpetual swaps can lose the whole position quickly, and thin liquidity makes prices harder to trust.
  • One community post describes a liquidity provider position that kept losing value, a known risk for LP-style pools.
  • The LVN token has a small market cap, and governance pages point users toward unstaking and withdrawing.
  • The project does not publish a clear fee schedule on its homepage, and audit details are not summarised there.

Levana Perps fees

Levana's own description promises low fees and high real yield, but the homepage does not publish a specific fee schedule. Trading fees, funding rates and any liquidity provider charges would be set out in the trading documentation and visible in the app before a trade is opened.

On any perpetual swap platform, users also pay network gas on the underlying chain and may pay funding payments while a position is open. With the product in maintenance mode, check current settings rather than relying on older figures.

Is Levana Perps safe?

Tracking data lists two audits, but the homepage does not name the auditors or summarise their findings. Positions are held in smart contracts rather than by a company, so the main risks are contract bugs, oracle or price-feed problems, and liquidation losses.

The wind-down matters most. A product in maintenance mode may receive fewer updates and little support, and thin liquidity can make pricing and exits harder. The project does not publish licensing or regulatory details. Derivatives trading is restricted in some countries, so check the rules where you live. Never use funds you cannot afford to lose.

6 steps

How to get started with Levana Perps

  1. 1

Check the official channels first to confirm which markets are still open, since the foundation is winding down.

  2. 2

Read the trading overview in the documentation, especially the market types and how collateral and quote assets work.

  3. 3

Install a wallet that supports the chain you plan to use, such as one compatible with Osmosis, Injective, Sei or Neutron.

  4. 4

If you hold staked or vesting LVN, follow the governance page instructions to unstake, claim and withdraw.

  5. 5

If you still trade, start with a small amount and set a low leverage level to see how liquidation works.

  6. 6

Withdraw collateral you no longer need to keep in the protocol.

Who Levana Perps is for

Levana Perps now mainly concerns existing LVN holders, liquidity providers and traders who still have funds or vesting tokens in the protocol and need to withdraw them. It is not a good fit for new users looking for an actively developed perpetuals exchange.

Levana Perps FAQs

What is Levana Perps?

Levana Perps is a decentralized perpetual swap platform. Its name stands for 'Leverage any Asset', and it lets users take leveraged positions on assets using crypto collateral.

Is Levana Perps still active?

A public post from a Cosmos ecosystem account says the Levana Foundation is winding down and Levana Perps is transitioning to maintenance mode on Osmosis. That points to a product being sunset rather than expanded.

Which chains does Levana Perps run on?

Tracking data lists Sei, Osmosis, Injective and Neutron. Given the wind-down, check which deployments still accept new positions before using any of them.

What is the LVN token?

LVN is the protocol's token, used for staking and governance. A governance page notes that users can unstake, claim and withdraw vesting and staked LVN ahead of the launch of a successor product called Ruji Perps.

Is Levana Perps safe to use now?

Tracked TVL is about $14,000, which is very low. Leveraged trading carries a high risk of loss, and a project in maintenance mode may get limited support. Anyone with funds in the protocol should check the official channels for withdrawal instructions.

What are the fees?

The project's own description says it aims for low fees and real yield. A detailed fee schedule is not published on the homepage, so check the trading documentation before opening a position.
