Good

Our verdict on Kaskad

6.5/10

Kaskad suits experienced DeFi users who want lending markets on Igra (Kaspa) or Robinhood Chain, including tokenized stocks and cbBTC. Its strengths are the Sherlock audit, isolated pools and bounded governance. The main caveat is its youth: a small TVL, a custom oracle and a new chain ecosystem mean limited track record. Treat it as an early-stage protocol and size positions accordingly.

What is Kaskad?

Kaskad is a non-custodial lending protocol that runs on two networks: Igra, an EVM-compatible Layer 2 anchored to Kaspa, and Robinhood Chain. Users supply assets to earn variable interest or borrow against collateral. It is operated by PoW Incentives S.A. (BVI), and its homepage says it has been audited by Sherlock.

Markets are split by chain. Robinhood Chain lists USDG, WETH, NVDA, TSLA and PONS. Igra lists iKAS, USDC, USDT, WETH and cbBTC. The mix of tokenized stocks and Kaspa-linked assets is unusual among lending protocols.

Kaskad is new. DefiLlama lists it since 27 May 2026, with about $679,000 in TVL and a 4.8% drop over the last week. That is early-stage scale, so this page treats it as an early-stage project with limited history.

How Kaskad works

Kaskad is a pooled lending protocol. Suppliers deposit an asset into that asset's pool and receive a 1:1 receipt token (the aToken model) whose value grows as interest accrues. Borrowers lock supplied assets as collateral and borrow another listed asset against it, up to a per-asset loan-to-value limit.

Interest rates are set by each pool's utilization curve. When more of a pool is borrowed, supply APY and borrow APR both rise, which encourages repayment and new deposits. Each asset has its own pool on its own chain, so risk is isolated by market.

If a borrower's collateral value falls too far relative to the debt, the position can be partially liquidated by anyone, and a penalty applies. Prices come from the COB Oracle on Igra and established feeds on Robinhood Chain. Governance can adjust parameters only within set bounds, with a 48h timelock and a 24h challenge window.

8 features

Key features

01

Non-custodial lending pools

Users supply listed assets into per-asset pools to earn variable interest, or borrow another listed asset against their collateral.

02

Isolated per-asset pools

Each asset lives in its own pool on its own chain, so a liquidation in one market does not affect positions in another.

03

Utilization-based rates

Rates follow each pool's utilization curve, so supply APY and borrow APR rise together as demand grows.

04

COB Oracle pricing

Prices come from the in-house COB Oracle on Igra and from established feeds on Robinhood Chain.

05

Bounded governance

Governance has a 48h timelock and 24h challenge window, with hard floors enforced in the contracts. Treasury routing is fixed at 65% DAO and 35% Operations.

06

Partial liquidations

Liquidations are permissionless and partial, rather than closing a whole position at once.

07

AI agent access

An open-source MCP server lets autonomous agents interact with the protocol alongside human users.

08

KSKD incentives

Suppliers who maintain activity accumulate KSKD incentive claims on top of interest.

Pros and cons

What we like

  • Non-custodial design: users keep their keys and interact through standard EVM wallets.
  • Audited by Sherlock, with DefiLlama listing two audits.
  • Isolated per-asset pools limit contagion between markets.
  • Governance is bounded by a 48h timelock, a 24h challenge window and contract-level floors.
  • Partial, permissionless liquidations are gentler than full position closures.
  • Access to Kaspa-linked assets and tokenized stocks that most lending markets do not offer.

Watch out for

  • Very new: DefiLlama lists it since late May 2026, so there is almost no track record through market stress.
  • TVL is small, about $679,000, and fell 4.8% over seven days, which means thin liquidity in each pool.
  • The in-house COB Oracle on Igra is a custom price feed, and its reliability under volatility is not independently shown publicly.
  • Igra is a young Layer 2 anchored to Kaspa, and the tokenized stock markets on Robinhood Chain (NVDA, TSLA) add exposure to newer infrastructure.
  • Withdrawals are redeemable 1:1 only subject to pool utilization, so high borrowing can delay exits.
  • Fee levels, exact LTVs and liquidation penalties are not fully published on the homepage.

Kaskad fees

Kaskad does not publish a simple fee table on its homepage. Supply APY and borrow APR are variable and set by each pool's utilization, so the cost of borrowing depends on live demand in that market.

The homepage mentions a liquidation penalty set per asset within governance-bounded ranges, and a fixed 65/35 treasury routing between DAO and Operations. Specific percentages, reserve factors and any other protocol fees are not stated publicly. Network gas fees on Igra or Robinhood Chain also apply. Users can see current rates in the app before confirming.

Is Kaskad safe?

Kaskad is described as non-custodial, with supplied assets held in smart contracts on Igra and Robinhood Chain. The homepage says Sherlock audited the code, and DefiLlama lists two audits. Audit reports were not part of public sources, so scope and findings cannot be assessed here. The homepage also says the code is open source, which allows outside review.

Main risks are smart-contract bugs, oracle error or manipulation (the COB Oracle is the project's own), liquidations in volatile markets, and the immaturity of the underlying chains. Low TVL can mean thin liquidity and slow exits at high utilization. The operator is PoW Incentives S.A., registered in the BVI. No incidents are mentioned publicly, though the protocol has little history. Only commit money you can afford to lose.

6 steps

How to get started with Kaskad

  1. 1

Check that using DeFi lending is allowed where you live, and read the documentation and the audit information first.

  2. 2

Set up an EVM wallet such as MetaMask or Rabby and add either Igra or Robinhood Chain.

  3. 3

Fund the wallet with a listed asset and enough of the chain's gas token to pay network fees.

  4. 4

Open the app, pick a chain and a market, and review its supply APY, borrow APR, LTV and liquidation threshold.

  5. 5

Supply an asset to earn variable interest, then borrow only if you accept liquidation risk, and keep the health factor well above the minimum.

  6. 6

Monitor your positions, repay or withdraw when needed, and remember that withdrawals depend on pool utilization.

Who Kaskad is for

Kaskad is for DeFi users who already hold assets on Igra or Robinhood Chain and want to earn interest or borrow without selling. It also suits people curious about Kaspa-linked lending or agent-driven strategies. It is not ideal for those who need a long track record or deep liquidity.

Kaskad FAQs

What is Kaskad?

Kaskad is a non-custodial lending protocol. Users supply assets into per-asset pools to earn variable interest, or borrow another listed asset against their collateral. It runs on Igra, an EVM Layer 2 anchored to Kaspa, and on Robinhood Chain.

Which assets does Kaskad support?

On Robinhood Chain the listed assets are USDG, WETH, NVDA, TSLA and PONS. On Igra they are iKAS, USDC, USDT, WETH and cbBTC. That makes ten listed assets across both chains.

Is Kaskad audited?

The homepage says Kaskad was audited by Sherlock and describes it as double audited. DefiLlama lists two audits. An audit lowers risk but does not remove smart-contract, oracle or market risk.

Is Kaskad non-custodial?

The protocol is non-custodial, so you keep your keys and interact through an EVM wallet such as MetaMask or Rabby. Supplied assets sit in smart contracts and are redeemable 1:1, subject to pool utilization.

What is the KSKD token?

KSKD is the protocol's token. The homepage mentions activity-based KSKD incentives for suppliers who stay active, and it links to trading venues for KSKD against USDG and USDT. Supply and borrow positions do not require holding it.

What happens if my loan is liquidated?

Liquidations are permissionless and partial only. Each asset has its own LTV, liquidation threshold and penalty within governance-bounded ranges. Exact values for each market should be checked in the app or documentation.

Can AI agents use Kaskad?

Yes. The homepage says agents can interact with the protocol directly through an open-source MCP server, and that the contracts are accessible through smart contract calls.
