Crypto.com DeFi Swap Review 2026: Non-Custodial Swaps in the Wallet

Crypto.com DeFi Swap is the token-swap feature inside Crypto.com's non-custodial wallet. It is easy to reach for existing wallet users, but costs and audit details are not published in one place.

By the DappsAtlas editorial team · Updated

Our verdict on Crypto Com Defi Swap

6.8/10

Crypto.com DeFi Swap suits existing users of the Crypto.com wallet who want to swap tokens while keeping their own keys. Its main strength is convenience: the swap lives inside the wallet and shows the routing protocol before you confirm. The main caveat is that fees, supported chains and audit details are not published in one place, so check each quote and keep your recovery phrase safe, because no one can recover it for you.

What is Crypto Com Defi Swap?

Crypto.com DeFi Swap is the decentralized swap feature of the Crypto.com non-custodial wallet, which began as the DeFi Wallet in 2020 and now sits alongside the Onchain product in the company's help center. It lets wallet users exchange tokens without moving them to a centralized exchange.

At launch in September 2020, it was presented as a DeFi exchange where users could swap coins and also stake tokens through pool and boost features. The help center says each swap shows its routing protocol on the confirmation screen.

The feature is one part of a much larger Crypto.com ecosystem that includes an exchange, a custodial app, cards and payments. The swap does not have its own standalone site, so most information comes from help articles and reviews of the wallet.

How Crypto Com Defi Swap works

A decentralized swap lets you trade one token for another using smart contracts and pooled liquidity instead of an order book run by a company. You keep your tokens in your own wallet, approve the trade, and the contract sends the new token back to the same wallet.

Crypto.com DeFi Swap is the swap tab inside the Crypto.com non-custodial wallet. It launched in September 2020 as a DeFi exchange alongside staking pools and boost features. The help center says that at the Confirm Swap screen a Protocol field shows which protocol the trade will be routed to, which implies the app can choose among underlying venues rather than relying on a single pool.

The price you get depends on liquidity in the chosen protocol, any slippage, and the network gas fee. Because it runs on-chain, you sign each transaction with your own keys.

6 features

Key features

01

In-wallet swapping

Swaps happen in the wallet's own swap tab, so tokens never leave your self-custody setup.

02

Routing transparency

The Confirm Swap screen shows which protocol the trade will be routed to, giving some visibility into the execution path.

03

Staking and pools

Since launch in 2020 the wider DeFi offering has included pool and boost features for earning interest on staked tokens.

04

Broad token support

The wallet is reported to cover over 1,000 tokens across 30+ chains, including Ethereum, Cronos and Cosmos-based networks.

05

Wallet creation and import

Users can create multiple multi-coin wallets or import existing ones with a 12, 18 or 24-word recovery phrase.

06

Security options

The wallet is described as offering two-factor authentication and open-source code.

Pros and cons

What we like

  • Non-custodial: you keep your private keys and recovery phrase while swapping.
  • The routing protocol is visible on the Confirm Swap screen before you approve.
  • Built into a wallet that is reported to support 1,000+ tokens across 30+ chains.
  • Backed by a large, established crypto company with extensive help documentation.
  • Reported security options include two-factor authentication and open-source code.

Watch out for

  • Swap fees, slippage settings and supported chains are not set out, so the true cost of a trade is only visible at confirmation.
  • Users hold their own keys, so a lost recovery phrase or a phishing approval cannot be reversed by support.
  • Standard network gas fees apply, and Ethereum gas can make small swaps expensive.
  • The product sits inside a larger wallet and ecosystem, so it is hard to evaluate on its own and its branding has shifted over time.
  • No independent audit reports for the swap contracts are cited.
  • Routing across several protocols adds dependence on third-party smart contracts.

Crypto Com Defi Swap fees

Public sources do not publish a fee schedule for DeFi Swap. The quote on the Confirm Swap screen is where you would see the cost of a given trade, together with the protocol it is routed through.

Expect to pay the network gas fee of the chain you swap on. The wallet shows an Ethereum gas meter with slow, average and fast estimates. One review site also reports a 0.05% service fee on DeFi rewards earned in the wallet, which is separate from swap pricing.

Is Crypto Com Defi Swap safe?

The wallet is described as non-custodial, so Crypto.com does not hold your swap assets. The main risks are therefore yours to manage: protecting the recovery phrase, checking token contracts and approving only transactions you understand. Swaps also depend on third-party protocols and smart contracts, which carry code risk.

Public sources do not list audit reports for the swap contracts or describe any incident history. Crypto.com's custodial products are separate from this wallet and have their own regulatory arrangements, which this review does not cover. Check the current terms in the app and the rules in your country before using it.

6 steps

How to get started with Crypto Com Defi Swap

  1. 1

Install the Crypto.com wallet app (now part of the Onchain product line) on iOS or Android, or import an existing wallet with its recovery phrase.

  2. 2

Write down the recovery phrase offline and turn on two-factor authentication.

  3. 3

Fund the wallet by depositing tokens, choosing the correct network, as the help center warns about network selection.

  4. 4

Keep some of the chain's native token for gas fees.

  5. 5

Open the swap tab and select the token you hold and the token you want.

  6. 6

Review the quote, the protocol shown in the Protocol field and the fees on the Confirm Swap screen, then approve.

Who Crypto Com Defi Swap is for

This is for people who already use, or plan to use, the Crypto.com non-custodial wallet and want a simple way to swap tokens on-chain. It also suits those moving CRO or other assets between the Crypto.com App and a self-custody wallet. Traders who need deep fee comparisons or independent audit documentation should confirm those details before using it.

Crypto Com Defi Swap FAQs

What is Crypto.com DeFi Swap?

It is the built-in swap function of the Crypto.com non-custodial wallet, which has since been folded into the Onchain product line. It lets you exchange one token for another directly from your own wallet, without handing assets to an exchange account.

Is Crypto.com DeFi Swap non-custodial?

Yes. The wallet is described as non-custodial, so you hold the private keys and recovery phrase. That gives you control, but it also means you are responsible for security and there is no account recovery if the phrase is lost.

How do I see which protocol my swap uses?

The project's help center says the protocol used for a swap is shown in the Protocol field on the Confirm Swap screen. This suggests swaps can be routed across more than one underlying protocol.

What does Crypto.com DeFi Swap cost?

A swap fee schedule is not given. You should check the quote on the Confirm Swap screen, which shows the cost before you approve. Network gas fees for the underlying chain apply on top. One review site also reports a 0.05% service fee on DeFi rewards earned through the wallet, which is separate from swapping.

Which tokens and chains are supported?

The wallet is reported to support more than 1,000 tokens across 30 or more blockchains, including Ethereum, Cronos and Cosmos-based chains. Which of those chains the swap itself supports is not spelled out, so check in the app.

Do I need a Crypto.com App account to use it?

Not necessarily. The wallet is separate from the Crypto.com App and Exchange, which are custodial. You can move assets between them, such as CRO from the app to the wallet, but you should check network and fee details before transferring.
