ActiveChateau Review 2026: Private Credit and chUSD on Plasma
Chateau is an RWA protocol that brings private credit on-chain through a synthetic dollar called chUSD, deployed on Plasma. It is early and small, and key terms such as yield and fees are not in the public facts we reviewed.

Our verdict on CHATEAU
5.5/10Chateau suits crypto users curious about tokenized private credit who are comfortable reading documentation and legal terms. Its main strength is a focused RWA model built around a USDC-redeemable synthetic dollar, with two audits listed. The main caveat is thin public detail: yields, fees and underwriting practices are not public, and TVL is only about $1 million. Treat it as an early-stage protocol and size positions accordingly.

What is CHATEAU?
Chateau is a DeFi protocol that aims to give crypto users access to institutional assets and private markets. DefiLlama files it under real-world assets, and public reporting describes it as an institutional-grade platform that tokenizes private credit.
The team announced a pre-seed round in August 2024, per a news snippet, and a blog introduction followed in May 2025. DefiLlama has tracked it since December 2025, with about $1.02 million in TVL on Plasma, two audits listed and no token.
The homepage could not be fetched for this review, so the picture comes from DefiLlama and search snippets. That is enough to identify what Chateau does, but not enough to judge yields, fees or how loans are underwritten.
How CHATEAU works
Chateau is built around a stable-value token, chUSD. Users deposit USDC or USDT and receive chUSD, which can be redeemed back for USDC. According to the documentation snippet, chUSD itself does not earn yield.
The RWA side comes from private credit. Chateau says it pairs on-chain access with professional underwriting off-chain, so that capital can be put to work in loans and other traditional assets that are then represented on-chain. Where yield is offered, it would come from interest paid by those underlying borrowers, though the project does not set out the exact structure.
A second token, schUSD, appears in the docs with a fund partner listed, suggesting a separate yield-oriented route. Its mechanics are not described publicly, so readers should confirm terms before relying on it.

Pros and cons
What we like
- Clear focus on tokenized private credit, a distinct niche within RWA
- chUSD is redeemable for USDC, per the documentation snippet
- Two audits are listed on DefiLlama
- Documentation covers core tokens, legal and roles sections
- Backed by a disclosed pre-seed funding round
Watch out for
- Homepage could not be retrieved, so product details rest on search snippets and a DefiLlama description
- Yield sources, fee schedule and redemption terms are not
- TVL is about $1.0 million, which is small for a protocol aiming at institutional assets
- Private credit carries borrower default and valuation risk that on-chain transparency does not remove
- Listed on DefiLlama only since December 2025, so the track record is short
- Only one chain (Plasma) is listed, and there is no native token to align incentives
CHATEAU fees
Chateau's fee schedule is not public we reviewed. Mint, redemption, management and performance fees are not published.
Users should check the official documentation and the pool or deal pages in the app before depositing. Network gas fees on Plasma would apply on top of any protocol charges.
Is CHATEAU safe?
DefiLlama lists two audits for Chateau, but the auditors and findings are not public we reviewed. Check the reports and whether any issues remain unresolved. We are not aware of any hack or incident from public sources, but the protocol is young.
Private credit adds risks beyond smart contracts: borrower default, valuation, legal enforceability of off-chain claims and dependence on underwriters and fund partners. The documentation has a legal section, which readers should review for eligibility rules and redemption terms. The custody model and regulatory status are not stated publicly.
6 steps
How to get started with CHATEAU
- 1
Read the official documentation on chUSD, schUSD and the legal section before depositing anything.
- 2
Check the audit reports and who the underwriters and fund partners are.
- 3
Confirm that the service is available and permitted in your jurisdiction and whether any eligibility checks apply.
- 4
Set up a wallet that supports Plasma and hold USDC or USDT.
- 5
Connect the wallet to the app and review the Deals and Pools pages for terms.
- 6
Start with a small amount and confirm how redemption works before scaling up.
Who CHATEAU is for
Chateau is for DeFi users who want exposure to real-world private credit and accept the extra risk of off-chain borrowers and an early-stage protocol. It is less suited to those who need a long track record, published fee tables or a native token.
CHATEAU FAQs
What is Chateau?
Chateau is a DeFi protocol that describes itself as built to open up institutional assets and private markets through stable-value assets and blockchain-native investment vehicles. Public reporting describes it as an institutional-grade RWA platform that tokenizes private credit.
What is chUSD?
Chateau's flagship synthetic dollar, chUSD, is minted when users deposit USDC and USDT. Per its documentation snippet it can be redeemed for USDC but receives no yield by itself.
Is Chateau safe?
DefiLlama lists Chateau with about $1.02 million in TVL on Plasma and two audits. It has no listed token and has been tracked since December 2025. An audit does not remove smart-contract, counterparty or credit risk, so read the audit reports yourself.
Does Chateau have a token?
DefiLlama shows no token for Chateau and public sources we reviewed name none. chUSD is a synthetic dollar, not a governance or reward token.
What yield does Chateau offer?
The project does not state yields, so none are given here. One search snippet refers to schUSD and to yield from real-world private credit, but the mechanism and rates are not. Check the official docs for current figures.
Which blockchain does Chateau run on?
DefiLlama lists Plasma as its chain. Other deployments are not mentioned publicly.
