Awaken Swap is an AMM-based decentralized exchange on the aelf chain offering token swaps, liquidity pools and limit orders. Its liquidity is very small, so it suits experimenters more than active traders.

Our verdict on Awaken Swap

5.0/10

Awaken Swap is a straightforward AMM DEX for the aelf chain, with token swaps, LP pools and limit orders, plus open-source contracts and documentation that explain the risks. It suits people already using aelf who want a native place to swap. The main caveat is scale: TVL is only about $15,794, no audits are listed and fees are not published on the homepage, so keep trades and deposits small.

What is Awaken Swap?

Awaken Swap is a decentralized exchange built on the aelf blockchain. It uses an automated market maker design and supports swaps between arbitrary token pairs. Its homepage also describes liquidity pools and limit orders.

The project has been tracked since May 2024. Its total value locked is about $15,794, with a 2.6% rise over seven days. That is very small for a DEX, and it means liquidity is shallow.

Awaken publishes documentation, open-source smart contract code and a link to its SwapHook contract on the aelf mainnet. The tracking data lists no audits and no native token. Team details and fee levels are not stated on the homepage.

How Awaken Swap works

Awaken is an automated market maker. Instead of matching buyers and sellers in an order book, it holds pairs of tokens in pools. A swap trades against a pool, and the price moves with the pool's balance, so larger trades relative to pool size get worse rates.

Liquidity providers deposit both tokens of a pair and receive LP tokens representing their share. They earn a share of trading fees, but changing token prices can reduce the value of their position compared with simply holding the tokens.

Awaken also describes limit orders. A user sets a target exchange rate and an expiry time, and the order fills only if the market reaches that rate. It may fill in part or not at all.

6 features

Key features

01

AMM token swaps

Swaps exchange one token for another through a liquidity pool. The amount received depends on pool liquidity, swap size and trading fees.

02

Liquidity pools

Liquidity providers deposit token pairs into shared pools and receive LP tokens that represent their share of the pool.

03

Limit orders

Users can set a target exchange rate and an expiry time. Orders may fill partly or not at all.

04

Open-source contracts

The smart contract code is published, and the deployed SwapHook contract can be viewed on the aelf explorer.

05

Public documentation

Project guides and FAQs explain how the exchange is designed and what its risks are.

06

Native aelf deployment

The DEX is built for the aelf chain and supports swaps between arbitrary token pairs listed there.

Pros and cons

What we like

  • Open-source smart contracts and a linked mainnet contract can be inspected by anyone
  • Documentation covers the design and its risks
  • Offers limit orders alongside standard AMM swaps
  • Liquidity providers receive LP tokens representing their pool share
  • Non-custodial design: trades run through smart contracts rather than an exchange account

Watch out for

  • Very small TVL of about $15,794, so liquidity is thin and larger swaps are likely to move prices
  • No audits are listed in the tracking data
  • No native token, so there are no governance or incentive mechanics to speak of
  • Limited to the aelf ecosystem, which has a far smaller user base than major chains
  • Fee levels, team and roadmap are not published on the homepage
  • Limit orders may fill partly or not at all, which can surprise newcomers

Awaken Swap fees

Awaken does not publish a fee schedule on its homepage. It says only that the amount received in a swap depends on available liquidity, swap size and trading fees.

Users should check the swap interface and the project documentation for the exact trading fee and pool fee split before trading. Network transaction fees on aelf apply on top of that.

Is Awaken Swap safe?

The tracking data lists no audits for Awaken. The contract code is open source and the SwapHook contract is viewable on the aelf explorer, which allows independent checks, but that is not a substitute for a professional audit. Users should treat smart contract risk as real.

As a DEX, Awaken does not hold user funds in an exchange account, but assets in pools are exposed to contract bugs and to impermanent loss. Very low TVL also increases price impact and makes thin pools easier to manipulate. The project does not publish team or licensing information on its homepage. Check the rules that apply in your jurisdiction.

6 steps

How to get started with Awaken Swap

  1. 1

Read the Awaken documentation to understand swaps, pools and limit orders, including the stated risks.

  2. 2

Set up an aelf-compatible wallet and fund it with the tokens you want to trade plus some for network fees.

  3. 3

Open the Awaken app and connect your wallet.

  4. 4

Check the quoted rate, trading fee and price impact before confirming any swap.

  5. 5

If providing liquidity, start with a small amount and understand how LP tokens and impermanent loss work.

  6. 6

Verify the contract address against the SwapHook link on the official site and the aelf explorer.

Who Awaken Swap is for

Awaken suits users already active on aelf who want a native DEX for swaps, pool deposits or limit orders, and who are comfortable reading contract code and documentation. It is a poor fit for large traders who need deep liquidity, or for anyone who requires audited contracts before depositing funds.

Awaken Swap FAQs

What is Awaken Swap?

Awaken is a decentralized exchange on the aelf blockchain. It lets users swap tokens through liquidity pools, provide liquidity for LP tokens and place limit orders, using an automated market maker design.

Which blockchain does Awaken Swap use?

It runs on aelf. The homepage links to a deployed SwapHook contract on the aelf mainnet dAppChain, and the tracking data lists aelf as its only chain.

Does Awaken Swap have a token?

The tracking data shows no token for the project, and the homepage does not mention one. Liquidity providers receive LP tokens that represent their share of a pool.

Is Awaken Swap audited?

The tracking data lists no audits, and the homepage does not point to an audit report. The smart contract source code is open and the documentation describes the design and its risks, so users can review it themselves.

Does Awaken support limit orders?

Yes, the homepage describes limit orders with a target exchange rate and an expiry time. An order can fill partly or not at all, and an expired order is not the same as a completed trade.

What are the main risks of providing liquidity?

Liquidity providers face impermanent loss, because changing token prices affect the value of their share. They also take on smart contract risk, and total liquidity is small, which can mean wide price impact on trades.
