What Targon (SN4) is

Targon is a subnet on Bittensor, the decentralized network where independent groups of participants compete to supply a specific digital service and are paid in the network's token. Targon runs as Subnet 4, which is where the SN4 name comes from. Project materials describe it as a decentralized, frontier AI lab, and coverage of it generally describes AI infrastructure: renting out compute, running AI inference (using trained models to answer requests), and offering confidential computing, where workloads are meant to stay protected even from the machine's owner.

A central piece is the Targon Virtual Machine, which underpins a compute marketplace. Miners on the subnet supply hardware, validators check that the hardware and its output are genuine, and the subnet's incentive system rewards the ones who do it well. Targon is often described as one of the older and larger subnets on Bittensor.

SN4 is the token tied to this subnet. It is not a general-purpose coin like Bitcoin or Ether. Its value is linked to how the market views the subnet's work and its share of Bittensor's rewards.

What the SN4 token is used for

SN4 is what Bittensor calls a subnet token, sometimes called an alpha token. Each subnet has its own, and the token represents a stake in that particular subnet. Holders generally get it by staking TAO, Bittensor's main token, into the subnet, and they can swap it back through the network's built-in pools.

In practical terms, holding SN4 is a way to take exposure to the Targon subnet and to take part in the rewards that flow to stakers. The subnet's performance, how much of Bittensor's emissions it attracts, and how many people want to stake into it all influence the token's market behavior.

On the product side, the subnet sells compute and AI services. A July 2026 article noted that Targon began offering confidential-compute hardware builds, with public prices ranging from roughly $57,500 to about $305,900. How directly revenue from such sales feeds back to SN4 holders is not clear from the public information available here, so treat any claim of a direct link with caution and check the project's own documentation.

Supply and tokenomics

Public sources list a maximum supply of 21,000,000 SN4, the same cap used for TAO and every Bittensor subnet token. About 5.91 million tokens were in circulation as of 2026-11-05, which is roughly 28% of the cap. The data shows total supply equal to circulating supply, so the remainder appears to be tokens that have not been issued yet.

Subnet tokens are issued gradually through the network's emission schedule rather than being pre-sold in a conventional launch. The data does not describe a team allocation, investor unlock schedule or vesting terms, and none are asserted here.

As of 2026-11-05, the price was about $13.49 and the market cap about $79.7 million, which placed SN4 near rank 316 by market cap. The fully diluted valuation shown in the data matches the market cap, so treat it as based on current circulating supply. Because the maximum supply is much larger than what exists today, a valuation counting all 21 million tokens would be noticeably higher at the same price. Daily trading volume was about $458,000, which is modest relative to the market cap.

Where it lives and how it is traded

SN4 does not appear to be issued on a separate smart-contract chain such as Ethereum or Solana, and the data lists no chain of which it is the native token. It lives inside Bittensor's own network, where each subnet's token is created and tracked by the protocol.

Because of that, you do not typically buy SN4 the way you buy a standard ERC-20 token. The usual route is to hold TAO, connect a wallet that supports Bittensor staking, and move stake into Subnet 4, receiving SN4 in return. Several Bittensor dashboards and staking interfaces make this process visible, and many subnet tokens can also be exchanged back into TAO through the same system.

Some centralized exchanges and aggregators list wrapped or tracked versions of subnet tokens, but availability varies and can change. Liquidity is concentrated in the Bittensor pool for Subnet 4, so large orders can move the price. Check which venue you are using, what asset you actually receive, and whether withdrawals to your own wallet are supported before committing funds.

History and notable events

Targon is often described as one of Bittensor's earliest subnets. Its role grew sharply after Bittensor moved to a model in early 2025 where each subnet got its own token and market, which is how SN4 became a tradable asset in its own right. The exact launch date is not given in the data used here.

The recorded price range shows how volatile this has been. SN4 reached an all-time high of about $39.23 on 2025-06-10, and an all-time low of about $6.01 on 2026-02-11. As of 2026-11-05 it was around $13.49, about 66% below the peak and more than double the low. Over the past year it was down about 16%, and over the past seven days down about 4.6%.

On the product side, material from 2025 and 2026 describes a platform for AI inference and confidential compute, plus a push toward selling physical confidential-compute systems to buyers. Beyond these public descriptions, this page does not claim specific partnerships, customer numbers or revenue figures.

Risks to understand

SN4 carries the risks of a small-cap crypto asset on top of risks specific to Bittensor.

Market risk. The token has swung from about $39 to about $6 in a little over a year. Trading volume is thin compared with its market cap, so prices can move sharply and exits may be costly.

Subnet competition. Bittensor rewards are shared among many subnets. If another subnet attracts more stake, or if the network changes how emissions are distributed, Targon's share could shrink.

Dependence on Bittensor. SN4 relies on Bittensor's protocol, governance decisions and security. A flaw or a rule change there affects every subnet token.

Business risk. Targon competes with large cloud providers and other decentralized compute projects. Selling hardware or confidential compute adds execution and demand risk, and it is not certain how much of that value reaches token holders.

Information risk. Descriptions of the project come largely from the team and promotional or community sources. Read the primary documentation and be skeptical of price claims. Nothing here is financial advice.

How to store it safely

Since SN4 sits on Bittensor, safekeeping comes down to securing a Bittensor-compatible wallet. A self-custody wallet gives you the private keys, which means no exchange can freeze or lose your balance, but it also means nobody can recover it for you.

Write down the recovery phrase on paper and keep it offline in more than one secure place. Never type it into a website, share it in a chat or store it in a photo or cloud note. Anyone who has it controls the funds. Support staff and genuine projects will never ask for it.

Be careful with staking sites and wallet extensions. Fake interfaces that imitate Bittensor tools are a common way to steal funds, so check that you are using the correct application and verify transaction details before signing. If you hold a meaningful amount, a hardware wallet where supported adds protection, and sending a small test transaction first is sensible.

If you leave tokens on an exchange, you rely on that company's security and solvency. Staking can also involve unstaking delays or fees, so understand the terms before you commit.

By the numbers

Targon in numbers

Targon (SN4) is ranked #317 by market capitalisation, with a market cap of about $76.6M and a price of $12.94 as of Nov 6, 2026. Its fully diluted valuation ($76.6M) is close to its market cap, so little new supply is still to come.

The price was down 5.2% over 7 days, down 17.1% over 30 days, down 22.9% over the past year. It trades about 67% below its all-time high of $39.23, set on Jun 10, 2025.

About 5.92M SN4 are in circulation out of a maximum supply of 21M (28% issued).

24-hour trading volume was about $354K, or 0.5% of its market cap: low turnover, so large orders can move the price.
