What Re Protocol and the RE token are
Re Protocol describes itself as an internet-native marketplace for insurance capital. It links eligible capital providers with fully collateralized reinsurance activity that is carried out through licensed insurance entities. Reinsurance is the insurance that insurers buy to spread their own risk, so the protocol is aimed at the capital side of that market rather than at consumers buying a policy.
Blockchain infrastructure is used to make collateral, reserves and selected operating data verifiable onchain. The project is clear about the limits of this: underwriting, claims, pricing, reserve decisions and regulated operations stay with qualified professionals and licensed entities, not with code or token votes.
RE is the governance token of the protocol. It is issued on Ethereum and is not the native coin of any chain. Data aggregators group it under insurance, real-world asset (RWA) and governance categories. Reports from mid-2026 also mention a strategic investment in the project, but the details are not covered here.
What RE is used for
According to the project's own description, RE governs protocol upgrades, technical permissions, committee formation, reporting standards, incentive policy and governance procedures. In other words, holders take part in decisions about how the protocol is run and reported, not in individual insurance decisions.
Some third-party summaries add that RE is used for staking, bonding and general protocol participation, and one describes it as a coordination and security token. These uses are less clearly documented than the governance role, so readers should check the current official documentation to see which functions are actually live and what they require.
It is worth separating the token from the yield-focused products mentioned around the protocol. Those products are a different layer from RE itself, and holding RE does not by itself give a claim on reinsurance returns.
Supply and tokenomics
The maximum and total supply of RE are both 1,000,000,000 tokens, so no supply above that figure is indicated. About 159.6 million were circulating as of 2026-11-05, which is roughly 16% of the total.
At a price of about $0.31, the market capitalization was around $50.2 million, while the fully diluted valuation, which assumes all 1 billion tokens exist, was about $314.3 million. That gap matters: if more tokens unlock over time, the circulating supply grows and can put pressure on the price, all else equal.
public data does not include the allocation split, vesting schedules or unlock dates, so those details are not covered here. Anyone researching the token should look for an official tokenomics breakdown and check how and when the remaining supply is released.
Chains and how RE is held and traded
RE is issued on Ethereum as a standard token, so it can be held in any wallet that supports Ethereum assets and viewed on a block explorer using its contract address. Verify that address from the project's official channels, since fake tokens with copied names are common.
It trades on exchanges, and an August 2026 social post notes increased attention on Binance. As of 2026-11-05, 24-hour trading volume was about $11.3 million, which is around a fifth of the market cap and indicates fairly active trading for a token ranked near 444 by market cap.
Availability differs by platform and by region. Some protocol products may be limited to eligible capital providers, which fits the project's emphasis on licensed entities, so access can depend on where you live and on verification requirements.
History and notable events
The token's launch date is not given in the data, but its price history is. RE reached an all-time high of about $1.079 on 2026-06-20, which is shortly after reports of a strategic investment in the project around mid-June 2026. The all-time low of about $0.296 was recorded on 2026-11-04, one day before the date of this data.
As of 2026-11-05 the price was about 71% below that peak, and it had fallen roughly 13.8% over the previous seven days. No one-year change is available, which is consistent with a token that has been trading for less than a year.
This is a description of past movement only, not a signal about what will happen next. Newer tokens with a small float often see large swings.
Risks to understand
Several risks apply. Price volatility is high, and the token was trading near its all-time low at the time of writing. Dilution risk comes from the roughly 84% of supply that was not yet circulating, depending on its unlock schedule.
Governance risk is also present: holders may vote on policy and permissions, but the real insurance operations depend on licensed entities and professionals, so outcomes rely on off-chain parties and on regulation. Reinsurance losses, such as those from major catastrophes, could affect any associated yield products, and smart contract bugs are a possibility with any onchain system. Regulatory treatment of tokenized insurance capital may also change.
As always, this page is not financial advice. Read the official documentation and any audits before committing money, and only use funds you can afford to lose.
How to store RE safely
Since RE is an Ethereum token, a hardware wallet is a common choice for longer-term holding, because the private keys stay offline. Write the recovery phrase on paper or metal, keep it offline, and never enter it into a website or share it with anyone claiming to be support.
Before interacting with governance or staking contracts, check that you are on the official site and confirm the contract address from several official sources. Be wary of airdrop claims, direct messages and approval requests you did not expect. After using a dApp, review and revoke token approvals you no longer need.
Keeping tokens on an exchange is convenient for trading, but it means the exchange controls the keys. If you plan to vote in governance, you will usually need the tokens in a wallet you control.
By the numbers
RE in numbers
RE (RE) is ranked #448 by market capitalisation, with a market cap of about $48.6M and a price of $0.3045 as of Nov 6, 2026. Its fully diluted valuation is $304M, so roughly 16% of the eventual supply is in circulation today; tokens still to be released could add selling pressure.
The price was down 14.8% over 7 days, down 34.8% over 30 days. It trades about 72% below its all-time high of $1.08, set on Jun 20, 2026.
About 159.6M RE are in circulation out of a maximum supply of 1B (16% issued).
24-hour trading volume was about $10.1M, or 21% of its market cap: high turnover.
RE has token contracts on Ethereum. Always check the contract address before buying or bridging: copycat tokens often reuse a well-known name and ticker.
CoinGecko groups RE under Real-world asset (RWA) tokens, Governance tokens.

RE FAQs
What is RE (Re Protocol)?
RE is the governance token of Re Protocol, which aims to connect eligible capital providers with fully collateralized reinsurance run through licensed insurance entities. It is used to govern upgrades, permissions, committees, reporting standards and incentive policy.
What is the supply of RE?
The maximum supply is 1 billion tokens, equal to the total supply. About 159.6 million were circulating as of 2026-11-05.
Which blockchain is RE on?
RE is issued on Ethereum. It is not the native coin of its own blockchain.
Does holding RE earn insurance yield?
Not by itself. RE is described as a governance token, and underwriting, claims, pricing and reserve decisions remain with licensed entities and professionals. Any yield products are separate, so check the official documentation for what holding RE actually provides.
Why has the RE price dropped recently?
The data shows a 7-day decline of about 13.8% and a record low of about $0.296 on 2026-11-04. Reasons for moves can include market conditions, low liquidity relative to the supply that could unlock, and trading sentiment, but the data does not point to one specific cause.
Is RE regulated or open to everyone?
The project says that regulated operations are carried out through licensed insurance entities, and access to some products may be limited to eligible capital providers. Check the rules where you live and the platform's requirements before taking part.
What is the market cap of RE?
As of Nov 6, 2026, RE had a market cap of about $48.6M, ranking #448 among cryptocurrencies by market capitalisation. Market cap is price multiplied by circulating supply, so it moves with the price.
What is the all-time high of RE?
RE's all-time high is $1.08, reached on Jun 20, 2026. Its all-time low is $0.2922 (Nov 5, 2026). Past prices say nothing about future returns.
What is the circulating supply of RE?
As of Nov 6, 2026, about 159.6M RE were in circulation, against a maximum supply of 1B.
Which blockchains is RE on?
It has token contracts on Ethereum.
