What eBTC is
eBTC (ticker EBTC) is the token tied to Echo, a project that describes itself as a Bitcoin liquidity aggregation and yield infrastructure layer. The problem it targets is fragmentation. Bitcoin exposure in DeFi comes in many forms: native BTC, liquid staking tokens, and wrapped BTC from different issuers. Each form sits in its own pool and is accepted by different apps, so liquidity ends up scattered.
Echo's answer is an aggregation layer. Users deposit BTC in one of the supported standards and receive Echo's unified BTC token in return, which they can then take into DeFi applications. According to the project description, this works without relying on conventional Bitcoin staking protocols.
The project says it integrates with native BTC Layer 2 solutions including Babylon, BSquared and Bitlayer. It also names support for liquid staking tokens such as PumpBTC and LBTC, and for wrapped tokens such as wBTC and fBTC. It also says it uses Proof-of-Reserve to show that the BTC assets accepted into the aggregation layer are backed and transparent.
Note that several unrelated products share the name eBTC or the EBTC ticker, so check which one you are looking at. This page covers the Echo token only.
What the token is used for
The main purpose of Echo's eBTC is to act as a single, unified form of Bitcoin inside DeFi. Instead of holding several different BTC wrappers that each need their own integrations, a user can deposit into Echo and hold one token that is meant to be accepted across applications on the chains where it is issued.
The project also frames itself as a yield layer. The description mentions "innovative yield solutions" aimed at getting more return from BTC than simply leaving it idle. The public description does not spell out the strategies in detail, so anyone interested should read Echo's own documentation to see how yield is generated, who bears the risk, and what fees apply.
In practice, a token like this can be used as collateral, supplied to lending markets, placed in liquidity pools, or held as a Bitcoin-denominated position on chains where native BTC is not available. Which of those options exist for EBTC at any time depends on which dApps have listed it, and that changes. Check a protocol's own interface before assuming a particular use is available.
the public information available here do not describe any governance rights or fee-sharing attached to holding EBTC, so none should be assumed.
Supply and tokenomics
As of 2026-08-25, the circulating supply of EBTC was about 554.49 tokens, with a total supply of about 554.54. No maximum supply is listed. The two figures are very close, so almost everything that exists is already circulating.
The small supply can look odd next to the price. At the time of writing, EBTC traded at about $80,280, and the market capitalisation was about $44.5 million, matching the fully diluted value. That price level is in line with Bitcoin-sized values, which is what you would expect from a token designed to represent BTC. It is not like a typical altcoin with billions of units.
Because a BTC-backed token is meant to be created when BTC is deposited and removed when it is redeemed, the supply is expected to move with deposits and withdrawals rather than follow a fixed emission schedule. That is why no cap is given. The data here does not include any team allocation, vesting schedule or token emission program, and none should be inferred.
Trading volume over 24 hours was not available in the data. The market cap rank was around 481 at the time of writing.
Chains, holding and trading
According to the data, EBTC is issued on Monad and Starknet. These are two separate ecosystems, and the token is categorised under both, as well as under crypto-backed tokens.
To hold it, you need a wallet that supports the relevant network. Monad is an EVM-compatible chain, so common Ethereum-style wallets can generally be configured for it. Starknet uses a different account model and its own wallets, so an Ethereum wallet will not work there without a Starknet-specific one. Always confirm which network a token address belongs to before sending anything, because tokens sent on the wrong network can be lost.
EBTC can be obtained in two broad ways. One is by depositing supported BTC forms through Echo's own interface and receiving the token. The other is by buying it on a decentralised exchange or other venue that lists it on one of those chains. Liquidity can be thin for a token with a market cap in the tens of millions, so quoted prices may differ from what you receive when you trade, particularly on larger orders.
Since 24-hour volume was not available, check the actual pool or order book depth on the venue you plan to use.
History and notable events
The data does not give a launch date for EBTC. What it does show is the price range since the token began trading: an all-time high of about $133,309 on 2026-04-03 and an all-time low of about $57,837 on 2026-07-01. At the time of writing, the price was up about 25.3 percent over seven days. No one-year change is available, which fits with a relatively young listing.
Those price moves look broadly like Bitcoin-scale swings rather than the behaviour of a token with its own independent value. Since EBTC is meant to represent BTC, large moves in its price would normally reflect Bitcoin's price. Any gap between EBTC and BTC itself would be worth investigating, since it can signal liquidity problems or doubts about redemption.
Public reporting mix in several unrelated products with similar names, including a synthetic Bitcoin backed by staked ether on Ethereum, a Bitcoin fund listed on an Australian exchange, and a product from a different onchain fund platform. None of these should be confused with Echo's token. The data here does not include any notable incidents, audits or partnerships beyond what Echo's own description states.
Risks
Holding EBTC means taking on more risk than holding Bitcoin itself. The main ones are:
- Smart contract risk. Bugs in the minting, redemption or yield contracts could lead to losses. Aggregation layers combine several systems, so the surface for problems is larger.
- Backing and redemption risk. The token is only as good as the BTC and wrapped assets behind it. Echo points to Proof-of-Reserve, but you should understand what is checked, how often, and by whom.
- Underlying asset risk. Accepted deposits include wrapped BTC and liquid staking tokens, each with its own issuer, custodian or protocol risk. A problem in one could flow through to EBTC.
- Depeg and liquidity risk. With a market cap in the tens of millions, thin markets may make the price drift from BTC or make exiting hard.
- Yield risk. Higher returns usually mean extra exposure, such as to other DeFi protocols. Yields are not guaranteed.
- Bridge and chain risk. Monad and Starknet are newer networks, and any cross-chain movement adds further technical risk.
- Name confusion. Sending funds to a different project's eBTC address is a real hazard.
None of this is advice to buy or sell. Treat it as a checklist for your own research.
How to store it safely
Start with the wallet. For Monad, use a well-established EVM wallet and add the network from a trusted source. For Starknet, use a wallet built for that network. A hardware wallet adds protection where it is supported, since it keeps your keys off an internet-connected device.
Write down your recovery phrase on paper or metal and keep it offline, in a place you control. Never type it into a website, share it in a chat, or store it in a notes app or cloud folder. No legitimate support team will ask for it.
Before receiving EBTC, confirm the network and the token contract address from Echo's official documentation rather than from a search result or social media post, because fake tokens with the same name are common. Send a small test amount first if you are moving funds for the first time.
Be careful with approvals. When you connect to a dApp, you often grant it permission to spend your tokens. Review these permissions periodically and revoke any you no longer need. If you deposit EBTC into a yield strategy or lending market, remember that the tokens are then held by a contract rather than your wallet, and you carry that contract's risk.
By the numbers
eBTC in numbers

EBTC FAQs
What is eBTC (EBTC)?
EBTC is the token linked to Echo, a Bitcoin liquidity aggregation and yield layer. Users deposit different forms of BTC and receive a unified BTC token that can be used in DeFi applications. The name is shared with other unrelated products, so check you have the right one.
Which blockchains is EBTC on?
The data lists Monad and Starknet as the chains where EBTC is issued. You need a compatible wallet for whichever network you use, and you should confirm the contract address from the project's official documentation before sending funds.
Why is the EBTC price so high?
The token is meant to represent Bitcoin, so its price is expected to follow BTC. At the time of writing, as of 2026-08-25, it was about $80,280 with a market cap of about $44.5 million. Prices change constantly, so check a live source.
What is the supply of EBTC?
No maximum supply is listed. As of 2026-08-25 the circulating supply was about 554.49 tokens and the total about 554.54. Supply is expected to change as BTC is deposited and redeemed, though the data does not describe the mechanism in detail.
Is Echo's eBTC the same as other eBTC tokens?
No. Several different projects use eBTC or EBTC as a name, including a staked-ether-backed synthetic on Ethereum and an Australian Bitcoin fund. Echo's token is separate from these, so always verify the contract address and network.
Is EBTC safe?
Main risks include smart contract bugs, problems with the BTC or wrapped assets backing it, depegging, thin liquidity and yield strategy exposure. It is a token built on several layers of technology, so it carries more risk than holding Bitcoin directly.
What is the market cap of eBTC?
As of Aug 25, 2026, eBTC had a market cap of about $44.5M, ranking #475 among cryptocurrencies by market capitalisation. Market cap is price multiplied by circulating supply, so it moves with the price.
What is the all-time high of EBTC?
eBTC's all-time high is $133,309, reached on Apr 3, 2026. Its all-time low is $57,837 (Jul 1, 2026). Past prices say nothing about future returns.
What is the circulating supply of EBTC?
As of Aug 25, 2026, about 554.49 EBTC were in circulation; no fixed maximum supply is listed.
