## What Is Ampleforth (AMPL)?

Ampleforth is a digital-asset protocol built around AMPL, a token designed as “smart commodity money.” Unlike a conventional token with a supply that changes only through issuance or burning, AMPL uses a rebasing mechanism: the number of tokens in holders’ balances can adjust over time. The protocol targets a price of $1 per AMPL, but that target is not a guarantee that the market price will remain at $1.

AMPL is not a share in a company, and holding it does not by itself represent a claim on reserves or a promise of fixed redemption value. Its distinctive supply design makes it important to understand both the market price and the number of tokens in a wallet when assessing a holding.

## How the Elastic Supply Works

Ampleforth adjusts AMPL’s supply when its price deviates from the $1 target. The change is made once every 24 hours and is distributed proportionally across holders’ balances. When the protocol expands supply, a holder’s AMPL balance increases; when it contracts supply, the balance decreases. These changes affect token quantities, not just the displayed market price.

A rebase does not ensure that each holder’s position gains or loses value by the same amount as their token count changes. Market prices can still move, and the supply adjustment is not a fixed-value payout. For example, a larger number of AMPL does not automatically mean a larger dollar value. Anyone considering the token should account for rebases when tracking balances, transactions, or performance.

## What Is AMPL Used For?

AMPL’s primary role is to serve as the asset governed by Ampleforth’s elastic-supply protocol. The project describes it as a form of smart commodity money, and its rebase mechanism is intended to respond to price deviations from the $1 target. Public sources do not establish a guaranteed redemption value or a specific set of services that every AMPL holder can access.

AMPL is associated with decentralized finance, but that label alone does not mean it earns interest or provides a fixed yield. Any use in a third-party app or financial strategy may carry additional risks, and the app’s terms and token-handling rules matter. Do not assume that depositing AMPL will preserve a particular balance or dollar value through rebases.

## Supply, Price and Supported Networks

AMPL is issued on Ethereum, Avalanche, Harmony, BNB Chain, and Near, according to the available network information. These are supported deployment networks, not evidence that AMPL is the native token of any of them. A token balance on one network may not be interchangeable with a balance on another without a supported bridge or other transfer method; check the network and asset details before sending funds.

As of 2026-11-05, the reported circulating supply was about 1.85 million AMPL and total supply about 1.97 million. No maximum supply was listed. These figures can change, including through the protocol’s rebases, so treat them as a dated snapshot rather than fixed limits. The reported price was about $1.36, with a market capitalization of about $2.5 million; both figures fluctuate and are not guarantees of future value.

## Risks and Storage

AMPL carries market risk as well as risks specific to its rebasing design. The $1 target is not a peg backed by a stated reserve, and supply changes cannot ensure that the market price returns to target. A holder’s token count can rise or fall while the market price also changes. The reported 24-hour trading volume was about $1,772 as of 2026-11-05, so trading may be less liquid than for larger assets; low liquidity can make it harder to trade at an expected price.

To store AMPL, use a wallet that supports the correct network and rebasing tokens, and verify how it displays changing balances. Exchanges and apps may handle rebases differently, so check their rules before depositing or transferring AMPL. Protect your recovery phrase, use official wallet software, and confirm the receiving network and address. Never share your recovery phrase or sign a transaction you do not understand.

By the numbers

Ampleforth in numbers

Ampleforth (AMPL) is ranked #2,254 by market capitalisation, with a market cap of about $2.32M and a price of $1.25 as of Nov 6, 2026. Its fully diluted valuation is $2.47M, so roughly 94% of the eventual supply is in circulation today; tokens still to be released could add selling pressure.

The price was down 0.1% over 7 days, up 4.9% over 30 days, up 11.7% over the past year. It trades about 69% below its all-time high of $4.07, set on Jul 12, 2020.

About 1.85M AMPL are in circulation, from a total supply of 1.97M. No hard maximum supply is listed.

24-hour trading volume was about $2.12K, or 0.1% of its market cap: low turnover, so large orders can move the price.

AMPL has token contracts on 5 chains we track, including Ethereum, Avalanche, Harmony, BNB Chain. Always check the contract address before buying or bridging: copycat tokens often reuse a well-known name and ticker.

AMPL FAQs

Is AMPL a stablecoin?

AMPL is designed to target $1, but the target is not guaranteed and is not described as being backed by reserves. Its market price can differ from $1.

Why does my AMPL balance change?

The protocol changes supply once every 24 hours when AMPL’s price deviates from its $1 target. The change is applied proportionally to holders’ balances, increasing or decreasing the number of tokens they hold.

Which networks support AMPL?

AMPL is listed as issued on Ethereum, Avalanche, Harmony, BNB Chain and Near. Check the network carefully before sending it, because selecting the wrong network can lead to lost or inaccessible funds.

How do I store AMPL?

AMPL can be held in a wallet that supports the relevant network and rebasing tokens. Confirm how the wallet displays balance changes, and protect your recovery phrase.

Does AMPL have a maximum supply?

No maximum supply was listed in the available supply information. The reported total supply was about 1.97 million AMPL as of 2026-11-05, but rebases can change supply over time.

What is the market cap of Ampleforth?

As of Nov 6, 2026, Ampleforth had a market cap of about $2.32M, ranking #2,254 among cryptocurrencies by market capitalisation. Market cap is price multiplied by circulating supply, so it moves with the price.

What is the all-time high of AMPL?

Ampleforth's all-time high is $4.07, reached on Jul 12, 2020. Its all-time low is $0.1559 (Oct 31, 2019). Past prices say nothing about future returns.

What is the circulating supply of AMPL?

As of Nov 6, 2026, about 1.85M AMPL were in circulation; no fixed maximum supply is listed.

Which blockchains is AMPL on?

It has token contracts on Ethereum, Avalanche, Harmony, BNB Chain, Near.
