## What Afreum is

Afreum is a project developing payments and decentralized finance apps for African users on the Stellar blockchain. Its app suite includes Afreum Wallet, a Stellar-compatible wallet; Afreum Save, which offers savings and time-deposit products; Afreum Earn, for liquidity-pool swaps and staking; and Afreum Cash, a peer-to-peer exchange. The project describes its aim as supporting wider crypto use and financial inclusion, including for people who have limited access to conventional financial services.

AFR is the ecosystem token associated with Afreum. It is not the same as AFRX, which the project describes as a rewards and future governance token, or the local country tokens in its broader suite. These assets may have different functions and risks, so check which token an app or transaction uses before proceeding. The presence of financial apps does not by itself guarantee that they are available or suitable in every country.

## What AFR is used for

AFR is described as the token powering the Afreum ecosystem. Afreum also describes AFR as a bridge in swaps between Afreum tokens through Stellar path payments. That may make the token relevant to app activity, but public sources do not establish that every app requires AFR or specify a complete list of token functions. Confirm the current terms and mechanics in the relevant Afreum app before relying on a particular use.

AFR should also be distinguished from the project’s AFRX rewards and intended future governance token. The name “rewards and future governance” does not mean AFRX has those functions already, and it does not establish governance rights for AFR. Token utility can change as apps and project plans develop. Treat promotional descriptions of an ecosystem’s role as project claims, not as a promise of revenue, returns, or future adoption.

## Supply and market figures

AFR has a stated maximum supply of 8 billion tokens. The reported circulating and total supplies are each about 7.997 billion, close to that cap. These are supply figures, not a measure of how many tokens are actively used in Afreum apps. A circulating supply near the maximum also does not establish how tokens are distributed among holders or whether particular wallets have significant balances.

As of 2026-11-05, AFR’s reported price was about $0.000542, with a market capitalization and fully diluted valuation each around $4.3 million. Those values can change quickly and should be treated as a dated snapshot, not a forecast or valuation guarantee. Trading activity was limited in the reported snapshot, which can make it harder to trade at a desired price. Market capitalization and supply figures may also differ across services depending on their methodology.

## Stellar network and storage

AFR is issued on Stellar. Public sources identify Stellar as its issuance chain, but does not identify AFR as a native coin of Stellar or list it as issued on other chains. A token issued on a blockchain is different from that blockchain’s native asset. Before sending AFR, confirm that the wallet, exchange, or Afreum app supports the Stellar-issued asset and that the receiving address or account is correct.

For self-custody, use a wallet that supports Stellar assets and follow its instructions for account setup and backups. Keep recovery information private and offline, and never share a secret key or recovery phrase with someone claiming to provide support. Check the asset identity carefully: a token with the same name or symbol on another network may not be the same asset. Test unfamiliar transfers with a small amount when practical, while accounting for network and transaction requirements.

## Risks to understand

AFR carries the risks of a small, relatively low-activity crypto token. Its price can move sharply, and limited trading volume can increase spreads or make it difficult to sell without affecting the price. The token’s value may depend on whether Afreum apps attract and retain users, but app availability, adoption, and continued development are not guaranteed. The project’s stated goals are not assurances of financial outcomes.

There are also blockchain and custody risks. Transactions may be difficult or impossible to reverse, users can lose access through mistakes or compromised wallet credentials, and smart-contract or app problems may cause losses. Savings, time deposits, staking, and liquidity pools can have additional terms and risks; do not assume that a product is insured or that returns are guaranteed. Check local rules and each app’s conditions before use, and only commit funds you can afford to lose.

By the numbers

Afreum in numbers

Afreum (AFR) is ranked #1,811 by market capitalisation, with a market cap of about $4.11M and a price of $0.0005144 as of Nov 6, 2026. Its fully diluted valuation ($4.11M) is close to its market cap, so little new supply is still to come.

The price was down 13.8% over 7 days, down 15.1% over 30 days, down 40.5% over the past year. It trades about 81% below its all-time high of $0.002740, set on Aug 24, 2025.

About 8B AFR are in circulation out of a maximum supply of 8B (100% issued).

24-hour trading volume was about $1.36K, or 0.0% of its market cap: low turnover, so large orders can move the price.

AFR has token contracts on Stellar. Always check the contract address before buying or bridging: copycat tokens often reuse a well-known name and ticker.

AFR FAQs

What blockchain is AFR on?

AFR is issued on Stellar. Public sources do not identify it as a native Stellar coin or confirm issuance on other chains.

What is AFR used for?

Afreum describes AFR as its ecosystem token and as a bridge in swaps between Afreum tokens through Stellar path payments. Check the current app details, since not every service is necessarily dependent on AFR.

What is the maximum supply of AFR?

The stated maximum supply is 8 billion AFR. The reported circulating and total supplies are each about 7.997 billion, but supply figures can vary by source and time.

Is AFR the same as AFRX?

AFR is distinct from AFRX. Afreum describes AFRX as a rewards and future governance token, while AFR is the ecosystem token; do not assume the two have interchangeable functions.

How do I store AFR safely?

Use a wallet that supports Stellar assets, and verify the asset and destination before sending. Protect your recovery phrase and secret keys, because anyone who obtains them may be able to control the wallet.

What is the market cap of Afreum?

As of Nov 6, 2026, Afreum had a market cap of about $4.11M, ranking #1,811 among cryptocurrencies by market capitalisation. Market cap is price multiplied by circulating supply, so it moves with the price.

What is the all-time high of AFR?

Afreum's all-time high is $0.002740, reached on Aug 24, 2025. Its all-time low is $0.00007364 (Nov 9, 2022). Past prices say nothing about future returns.

What is the circulating supply of AFR?

As of Nov 6, 2026, about 8B AFR were in circulation, against a maximum supply of 8B.

Which blockchains is AFR on?

It has token contracts on Stellar.
