What VeThor (VTHO) is

VeThor Token (VTHO) is the gas token of VeChainThor, the EVM-compatible Layer-1 blockchain behind the VeChain ecosystem. Gas is the fee a network charges for work such as sending tokens or running a smart contract, and on VeChainThor that fee is paid in VTHO rather than in the network's main asset.

VeChainThor uses a dual-token model. VET is the native asset and the one people stake. VTHO is the fuel used to operate on the chain. The stated aim of the split is to keep the cost of using the network separate from the market price of VET, so that a rise or fall in VET does not automatically change what a transaction costs in practical terms.

Because VTHO is a utility token, most holders are people or applications that need to pay fees, not people looking for a store of value. It ranked around 404th by market capitalization as of 2026-11-05, which places it in the mid-to-small range of listed assets.

What VTHO is used for

VTHO has one main job: paying for activity on VeChainThor. That covers ordinary token transfers, interactions with smart contracts, and the deployment and execution of contracts themselves. Any wallet or application that wants to move value on the chain needs a balance of VTHO to cover the fee.

Applications built on VeChainThor can also arrange things so their users do not handle gas directly. A developer or business may hold VTHO and pay fees on behalf of users, which keeps the experience simpler for people who are new to crypto. How any given app does this depends on its own design, so check the app's documentation.

VTHO is not described as a governance token, and the public project description does not present it as a payment coin for everyday shopping. Its role is operational. Demand for it follows how much activity happens on the network and how much of that activity consumes gas, which is one reason its value can behave differently from VET's.

Supply and tokenomics

The data shows about 104.3 billion VTHO in circulation and a total supply of roughly 104.30 billion, so nearly all existing tokens are already circulating. No maximum supply is listed, which means the supply is not capped in the figures we have. Fully diluted valuation and market cap are therefore about the same, near $57.3M as of 2026-11-05.

What matters more than the headline supply is how new VTHO is created and how it leaves circulation. The project says that since the Hayabusa upgrade in December 2025, new VTHO is generated only through actively staked VET. Before that change, generation was tied more broadly to holding VET, so the upgrade shifted the incentive toward staking.

We do not have verified figures here for the current generation rate, the share of fees that is burned, or the staking reward schedule, so we do not state them. Anyone wanting exact numbers should read the official VeChain documentation, since these parameters can change through network upgrades.

Chains, holding and trading

VTHO is issued on the VeChain network, and the data does not list it as the native token of any other chain. It is not the chain's main asset; that role belongs to VET. In practice, VTHO sits inside the VeChainThor ecosystem and is used mainly by the wallets and applications that operate there.

Holding it is straightforward in principle. A VeChainThor-compatible wallet can store both VET and VTHO, and because the chain is EVM-compatible, some familiar tooling works with it. The official VeWorld wallet is one common option, and some hardware wallets support the network as well, though support varies by device and software version.

On the trading side, VTHO is listed on a number of centralized exchanges, typically against USDT and similar pairs. At the time of writing, about $941,923 changed hands over 24 hours, which is modest against a market cap of roughly $57.3M. Lower volume can mean wider spreads and larger price moves on bigger orders. The price was about $0.00055 as of 2026-11-05.

History and notable events

VTHO's price history shows a long drawdown from its early peak. The all-time high was about $0.0467 on 2018-08-28, while the all-time low was roughly $0.00015 on 2020-03-16. As of 2026-11-05, the price was down about 3.5 percent over seven days and about 43 percent over one year.

The most notable recent event for the token is the Hayabusa upgrade in December 2025. According to the project description, it changed how new VTHO is produced, tying generation to actively staked VET. That makes staking participation more closely linked to the supply of gas than it was before.

We do not have a verified launch date for the token in our data, so we do not give one. Past price moves are described here only as history. They say nothing about what comes next, and this page does not offer predictions or trading advice. Readers interested in the project's timeline should check official VeChain announcements.

Risks to understand

The first risk is dependence. VTHO's usefulness rests on the activity of one network, VeChainThor. If fewer people or businesses build on it or transact there, demand for gas can fall, and the token has no other core role to fall back on.

The second is tokenomics change. The Hayabusa upgrade showed that the rules for generating VTHO can be altered. Further upgrades could change supply, fees or incentives, and an uncapped supply means dilution is possible depending on how generation and burning balance out.

Third is market risk. The token has fallen sharply from its 2018 high and was down roughly 43 percent over the year to 2026-11-05. Daily volume is relatively thin, so prices can move quickly and exiting a large position may be costly.

Finally, there are the usual crypto risks: exchange failures, scams that imitate VeChain-related tokens or airdrops, and smart-contract bugs in applications that spend or hold VTHO. Treat commentary that calls price moves good or bad for VTHO with caution, since it is opinion and not evidence.

How to store VTHO safely

Start with a wallet that explicitly supports VeChainThor, and download it only from the official source listed on the project's own channels. Fake wallet apps and lookalike websites are a common route for theft.

Write your recovery phrase on paper or another offline medium and keep it somewhere private and protected from fire and water. Never type it into a website, share it in a chat, or store it in a photo or cloud note. Anyone who has the phrase controls the funds, and support staff will never need it.

For larger balances, consider a hardware wallet that supports VeChain, and check its current compatibility before moving funds. Test with a small transfer first. Remember that moving VTHO requires gas, which is paid in VTHO itself, so keep a small balance available for fees.

Leaving tokens on an exchange is convenient for trading but means you rely on the exchange's security and solvency. Enable two-factor authentication on any account, and be wary of unsolicited messages offering free tokens or asking you to connect your wallet to unknown sites.

By the numbers

VeThor in numbers

VeThor (VTHO) is ranked #402 by market capitalisation, with a market cap of about $56.7M and a price of $0.0005431 as of Nov 6, 2026. Its fully diluted valuation ($56.7M) is close to its market cap, so little new supply is still to come.

The price was down 2.9% over 7 days, down 24.6% over 30 days, down 49.2% over the past year. It trades about 99% below its all-time high of $0.0467, set on Aug 28, 2018.

About 104.31B VTHO are in circulation. No hard maximum supply is listed, so new tokens can still be issued.

24-hour trading volume was about $1.41M, or 2.5% of its market cap: moderate turnover.

VTHO has token contracts on Vechain. Always check the contract address before buying or bridging: copycat tokens often reuse a well-known name and ticker.
