## What is Tangent USG?

Tangent USG (USG) is a stablecoin issued by Tangent Finance, a decentralized finance protocol on Ethereum. Tangent describes USG as an over-collateralized stablecoin: users deposit eligible collateral and borrow USG against it, rather than receiving a token that represents ownership in a company. The protocol says its collateral includes productive assets such as boosted Curve liquidity-pool tokens. These assets can generate yield, but their value and returns can change.

USG is designed to track the US dollar, not to increase in value like a typical investment token. Its target is not a guarantee that it will always trade at exactly one dollar. As of 2026-11-05, USG traded at about $1.00, with a market capitalization of about $3.9 million. Those are point-in-time figures and can change. USG is not a native blockchain gas token; it is issued on Ethereum.

## How USG and Tangent Finance work

USG’s main stated use is borrowing within Tangent Finance. A user can deposit accepted collateral, open a collateralized debt position, and mint or borrow USG while keeping exposure to the underlying yield-bearing asset. This may let users access stable-value funds without selling their collateral. The arrangement also creates obligations: borrowers need to maintain sufficient collateral and may face liquidation if its value falls too far relative to their debt.

Tangent also describes sUSG, a separate savings product that distributes protocol revenue. USG and sUSG are not interchangeable descriptions: USG is the stablecoin, while sUSG is associated with the savings product. Revenue distribution is not the same as a fixed or guaranteed return, and availability or terms can depend on the protocol. The project has described additional collateral types, including Pendle LP tokens and PTs, as planned; check current protocol information before assuming any asset is supported.

## Backing and the dollar target

Tangent says USG is fully backed by over-collateralized positions using productive collateral, including boosted Curve LP tokens. In an over-collateralized design, the collateral value is intended to exceed the amount of stablecoin debt issued against it. This buffer can help absorb price moves, but it does not remove risk: collateral can lose value quickly, become difficult to sell, or be valued differently by protocol systems during market stress.

A stablecoin’s market price can also move away from its target. USG’s dollar peg depends on the protocol’s collateral, borrowing and liquidation mechanisms, as well as sufficient market liquidity and confidence. Public sources do not establish independent audits, insurance, redemption rights, or a guarantee that holders can exchange every USG for one dollar on demand. Treat the dollar target as a design goal, not a promise. Before using USG, review the protocol’s current collateral rules, liquidation thresholds, and redemption or repayment processes.

## Supply, chain and market figures

USG is issued on Ethereum and is not listed as the native token of a blockchain. As of 2026-11-05, its circulating supply was about 3.87 million USG and its total supply was about 6.78 million. No maximum supply was specified. These amounts can change as users borrow or repay USG and as the protocol’s token accounting changes. A gap between circulating and total supply is not, by itself, evidence of when or whether additional tokens will enter circulation.

At the same date, the reported fully diluted valuation was about $6.7 million. Market capitalization and valuation figures are estimates based on token supply and market price; they do not measure the amount of collateral that can be withdrawn or guarantee liquidity. USG’s reported trading volume was relatively limited at that point, which can make it harder to trade larger amounts without affecting the price. Check current supply and market conditions rather than relying on a snapshot.

## Risks and storage

USG holders face several risks. Smart-contract errors, exploits, or failures in protocol operations could affect collateral or token access. Collateral prices and yields can fall, and a rapid decline may trigger liquidations. USG can lose its dollar peg, while thin trading or limited liquidity can make it difficult to sell near the target price. There may also be risks from the design of collateral assets, Ethereum transaction fees, and any changes to Tangent’s rules. The project description alone does not establish how these risks are mitigated.

USG is an Ethereum token, so use a wallet that supports Ethereum assets and verify the token’s official contract details through Tangent’s own channels before sending funds. Do not rely on a token name or ticker alone; unrelated tokens can use the same symbol. Keep your seed phrase or private keys private, and be cautious of unsolicited messages, fake support, and look-alike contracts. Storing USG in a wallet does not remove the risks of the stablecoin or its issuer protocol.

By the numbers

Tangent USG in numbers

Tangent USG (USG) is ranked #1,870 by market capitalisation, with a market cap of about $3.85M and a price of $0.9942 as of Nov 7, 2026. Its fully diluted valuation is $6.74M, so roughly 57% of the eventual supply is in circulation today; tokens still to be released could add selling pressure.

The price was down 0.0% over 7 days, down 0.2% over 30 days. It is trading at or near its all-time high of $0.9976.

About 3.87M USG are in circulation, from a total supply of 6.78M. No hard maximum supply is listed.

24-hour trading volume was about $894, or 0.0% of its market cap: low turnover, so large orders can move the price.

USG has token contracts on Ethereum. Always check the contract address before buying or bridging: copycat tokens often reuse a well-known name and ticker.

USG FAQs

Is Tangent USG backed by the US dollar?

USG is designed to track the US dollar, but that target is not guaranteed. Market demand, collateral conditions and protocol operation can cause its price to move away from one dollar.

What backs USG?

Tangent describes USG as over-collateralized by productive assets, including boosted Curve LP tokens. The collateral can still lose value, and its performance does not ensure that USG will remain at its target.

What is USG used for?

Tangent’s stated use for USG is borrowing against eligible collateral within its Ethereum DeFi protocol. The separate sUSG product is described as distributing protocol revenue; any distributions are not presented as guaranteed returns.

Which blockchain is USG on?

USG is issued on Ethereum. Use an Ethereum-compatible wallet and verify the official token contract details before transferring it, since other tokens may share the same ticker.

What are the risks of holding USG?

USG carries smart-contract, collateral, liquidation, liquidity and peg risks. Its value can move below one dollar, and holders may not be able to sell or redeem it at the target price when they want.

What is the market cap of Tangent USG?

As of Nov 7, 2026, Tangent USG had a market cap of about $3.85M, ranking #1,870 among cryptocurrencies by market capitalisation. Market cap is price multiplied by circulating supply, so it moves with the price.

What is the all-time high of USG?

Tangent USG's all-time high is $0.9976, reached on Oct 8, 2026. Its all-time low is $0.9654 (Oct 29, 2026). Past prices say nothing about future returns.

What is the circulating supply of USG?

As of Nov 7, 2026, about 3.87M USG were in circulation; no fixed maximum supply is listed.

Which blockchains is USG on?

It has token contracts on Ethereum.
