Quantoz EURQ (EURQ): Uses, Reserves and Risks

Quantoz EURQ (EURQ) is a euro-pegged stablecoin: its stated aim is for one token to represent one euro. Unlike a cryptocurrency whose value is intended to float freely, EURQ is designed to track the euro. Its market price can still move above or below that target, and its value in US dollars changes with the EUR/USD exchange rate.

Quantoz Payments BV issues EURQ. The company is described as an Electronic Money Institution supervised by the Dutch Central Bank (DNB). EURQ is designed to meet MiCA requirements as an electronic money token, and its whitepaper has been submitted to the Dutch Financial Authorities (AFM). These details are not a guarantee that a holder can redeem tokens in every circumstance. EURQ’s stated purpose is to support euro-denominated trading and liquidity in European crypto markets. It may also be used for transfers where the relevant platform and network support it. It is not a bank deposit, and holding it does not mean its market value or redemption access is risk-free.

Quantoz says EURQ tokens in circulation are backed at 102% by euros. The reserve is held by Stichting Quantoz, described as a bankruptcy-remote foundation, in accounts with systemically important banks and in highly liquid euro bonds. The foundation is also described as being under prudential supervision by the DNB. Reserve backing is intended to support the token’s euro value, but it cannot eliminate issuer, custodian, banking, legal or market risks.

The figures available for 2026-11-05 put circulating supply at about 3.74 million EURQ and total supply at 5 million. No maximum supply is specified. Approximate market capitalization on that date was $4.1 million, while the reported price was about $1.10 in US dollars. These are snapshots, not fixed terms: supply and market prices can change, and dollar value is affected by exchange rates as well as trading conditions.

EURQ is an electronic money token, not a token that automatically earns interest. The available transparency information says holders do not receive yield from reserve investments. EURQ is issued as an ERC-20 token on Ethereum. It is also listed as issued on the XRP Ledger (XRPL), Algorand and Polygon. These are separate networks, and a token on one chain is not automatically interchangeable with a token on another. the public information available do not specify the exact issuance or transfer mechanism for every network, so check the issuer’s current documentation and the receiving platform’s supported networks before sending EURQ.

When storing EURQ, use a wallet that supports both the token and the specific network you intend to use. Verify the network and destination address carefully; sending a token through an unsupported chain can make it difficult or impossible to recover. For a hosted exchange account, confirm that EURQ deposits and withdrawals are enabled on the chosen network. For a self-custody wallet, protect the recovery phrase offline and never share it with anyone claiming to offer support.

Stablecoin status does not remove smart-contract, network, wallet, exchange or cyber-security risks. A temporary loss of the euro peg, limited liquidity, changes to issuer services or difficulties accessing reserves could also affect holders.

EURQ’s value depends on the issuer’s ability to maintain its reserve and meet applicable obligations, as well as on access to banking and reserve assets. Supervision and a stated reserve structure may provide safeguards, but they do not make EURQ equivalent to cash in a personal bank account or guarantee immediate redemption. The token may trade at a discount if confidence or liquidity falls, and platforms may suspend deposits, withdrawals or trading.

There are also operational risks. A mistake in choosing a network or address can result in a lost transfer; smart-contract or blockchain problems may interrupt access; and an exchange or wallet provider can fail or impose its own restrictions. Rules and access can differ by country and by service. Read the current issuer terms and check that the platform you use supports the specific EURQ network and transaction you need.
