What Stronghold (SHX) is

Stronghold is a US-based financial services company, and SHX (written SHx in some of its own material) is the token tied to its ecosystem. The project describes itself as a platform for payments, trading and USD reserves, built around products such as Stronghold USD and a set of platform APIs. In other words, the company's focus is payment infrastructure for businesses, and the token is meant to sit alongside that.

SHX began as a token on the Stellar network, a blockchain designed for fast, low-cost value transfer. It has since also been issued on Ethereum, so there are now two versions of the asset on separate chains. CoinGecko groups it under the Ethereum Ecosystem, Stellar Ecosystem and Made in USA categories.

SHX is not the native coin of any blockchain. It is an issued token, which means it depends on the Stellar and Ethereum networks for security and transaction processing. As of 2026-11-05 it ranked around 291 by market capitalization, so it is a small-to-mid-sized asset in the wider market.

What the token is used for

Public descriptions of SHX come mostly from the project and from exchange and aggregator pages, so treat them as stated intentions rather than independently verified usage. The uses commonly listed are:

  • Real-time settlement: using the token to move value between parties in payment flows.
  • Fee discounts: reduced transaction costs on Stronghold services for people who pay with or hold SHX.
  • Merchant rewards: a rewards program aimed at businesses and users of the platform.
  • Merchant cash advances: financing for merchants, mentioned in coverage of the cross-chain launch.
  • Governance: a say in decisions about the Stronghold ecosystem.
  • DeFi liquidity: some sources mention providing liquidity, staking, lending or yield farming with the token.

The details of each feature, such as how discounts are calculated or how governance votes work, are not set out available here, so check the project's current documentation before assuming any of them are live. Some of these uses may depend on the chain you hold the token on, or on whether you use Stronghold's own products. A listed use case does not guarantee demand for the token.

Supply and tokenomics

The maximum supply is 100 billion SHX. About 99.75 billion tokens were counted as total supply at the time of writing, which is close to that cap. Circulating supply was around 18.7 billion, or roughly 19% of the total.

That gap matters for reading the valuation figures. As of 2026-11-05 the price was about $0.0047, giving a market cap of roughly $88.0M on circulating supply. Fully diluted valuation, which assumes every issued token is in play, was about $468.9M, more than five times higher.

the public information available here do not explain why so much of the supply is outside circulation or on what schedule it might be released. It could be held in reserve, locked, or controlled by the project or related parties. Anyone researching the token should look for the project's own supply disclosures and check on-chain balances of large holders, because a release of locked tokens into the market could change supply dynamics. This page does not predict how that would affect price.

Chains, holding and trading

SHX exists on two blockchains: Stellar and Ethereum. They are separate versions of the token, and moving between them requires a bridge or a supported transfer path, not a normal wallet send.

On Stellar, holding an issued asset generally means your wallet must first add a trustline to that asset. Exchanges that support Stellar deposits often also require a memo, a short tag that tells the exchange which customer account to credit. Leaving out the memo is a common way to lose track of a deposit.

On Ethereum, SHX works like other ERC-20 tokens. It sits in a standard Ethereum address and you pay gas fees in ETH to move it.

In terms of trading, centralized exchanges list SHX, and one search result describes a Kraken listing dated 22 October 2025. Liquidity is thin compared with the market cap: 24-hour volume was only about $676K as of 2026-11-05. Prices on smaller venues can differ, and large orders can move the market. Always confirm which chain a given exchange supports before depositing or withdrawing.

History and notable events

SHX started life in the Stellar ecosystem, tied to Stronghold's work on payments and USD-denominated services. The data available here does not give a precise launch date, so this page does not state one.

The token's price history is dramatic. Its all-time high of about $0.0557 was recorded on 2021-05-16, during the broader crypto rally of that spring. The recorded all-time low, about $0.00000013 on 2021-04-07, comes from aggregator data and looks far below normal trading levels, so it should be read with caution. As of 2026-11-05 the price was more than 90% below the 2021 peak, and it had fallen about 55% over the previous year, though it was up about 2.4% over the previous week.

Two developments stand out in the coverage. First, SHX was extended to Ethereum, described in project material as going cross-chain. Second, a search result reports a Kraken listing in October 2025. Beyond those, public sources provided do not document partnerships, audits or major incidents, and this page does not claim any.

Risks to understand

SHX carries several risks worth weighing before anyone holds it.

  • Volatility and drawdown: the price sits far below its 2021 high and fell by roughly half in the past year.
  • Thin liquidity: daily volume is small relative to market cap, so selling a large position may be hard without moving the price.
  • Supply overhang: only about 19% of total supply was circulating, and the fully diluted valuation is much higher than market cap.
  • Utility uncertainty: the listed uses come from the project and promotional pages. Real demand depends on Stronghold's business actually using the token.
  • Company risk: SHX is tied to a single company's products. Changes in its strategy, regulation of payment services or financial difficulties could affect the token.
  • Cross-chain risk: two versions on two networks add room for mistakes, and bridges can have technical flaws.
  • Fraud: fake tokens with similar names exist on both chains, so verify issuers and contract addresses.

This page is educational and is not advice to buy or sell.

How to store SHX safely

How you store SHX depends on the chain. For the Stellar version, use a wallet that supports Stellar assets and trustlines, and keep a small XLM balance, since Stellar accounts need a minimum reserve. For the Ethereum version, any wallet that supports ERC-20 tokens will do, and you need ETH to pay for transfers.

A hardware wallet is the usual choice for amounts you are not trading actively, because the private keys stay offline. Write your recovery phrase on paper or metal, store it away from your devices, and never type it into a website or share it with anyone, including anyone claiming to be support staff.

Before a transfer, check three things: that you are on the right network, that the token contract or issuer matches the one published by the project, and, for exchange deposits on Stellar, that the memo is entered exactly. Send a small test amount first. Leaving tokens on an exchange is convenient for trading, but you then rely on the exchange's security and withdrawal policies.

By the numbers

Stronghold in numbers

Stronghold (SHX) is ranked #290 by market capitalisation, with a market cap of about $86.7M and a price of $0.004606 as of Nov 7, 2026. Its fully diluted valuation is $459M, so roughly 19% of the eventual supply is in circulation today; tokens still to be released could add selling pressure.

The price was down 5.0% over 7 days, down 32.3% over 30 days, down 56.0% over the past year. It trades about 92% below its all-time high of $0.0557, set on May 16, 2021.

About 18.82B SHX are in circulation out of a maximum supply of 100B (19% issued).

24-hour trading volume was about $568K, or 0.7% of its market cap: low turnover, so large orders can move the price.

SHX has token contracts on 2 chains we track, including Stellar, Ethereum. Always check the contract address before buying or bridging: copycat tokens often reuse a well-known name and ticker.

SHX FAQs

What is Stronghold (SHX)?

SHX is the token of the Stronghold ecosystem, a US financial services company focused on payments, trading and USD reserves. The project lists uses such as settlement, fee discounts, rewards and governance. It is an issued token and not the native coin of its own blockchain.

Which blockchains does SHX run on?

SHX is issued on Stellar and Ethereum. They are separate versions of the token, so you must use the correct network when depositing, withdrawing or storing it. Moving between the two needs a supported bridge or transfer route.

What is the total supply of SHX?

The maximum supply is 100 billion SHX, and about 99.75 billion tokens were counted as total supply at the time of writing. Around 18.7 billion were circulating as of 2026-11-05, roughly 19% of the total.

What is the SHX price and how far is it from its all-time high?

The price was about $0.0047 as of 2026-11-05, with a market cap of roughly $88.0M. The all-time high was about $0.0557 in May 2021, so the current price is more than 90% below it. Prices change constantly, so check a live source.

Is SHX a safe investment?

Not necessarily. Sources describe a range of intended uses, but public information here do not show how much of that is live or how much demand it creates. Volume is also low compared with market cap, so research the project's current products and make your own decision.

Where can SHX be traded?

A search result reports that Kraken listed SHX in October 2025, and other exchanges also carry it. Listings change, so check that your chosen venue supports the right network before you deposit.
