What Storj is
Storj is an open-source project that offers end-to-end encrypted cloud storage. Rather than running its own data centres, it relies on a peer-to-peer network in which individuals and companies share spare storage space. The project says it aims to make file storage faster, cheaper and more secure than traditional cloud providers, and that it splits and spreads encrypted data across nodes in different locations. The Storj project is owned and developed by Storj Labs Inc, which was founded in 2014 and is headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia. The STORJ token is the payment unit of this network, so it connects the storage service to the people who supply capacity. The data lists the token's launch as 19 June 2017.
What the token is used for
According to the project description, users pay storage providers in STORJ for the space and bandwidth they use, and providers earn STORJ for supplying those resources. Search summaries describe STORJ as an ERC-20 utility token used as the method of payment on the network. The project also says people can obtain STORJ by becoming a farmer on the network, or by buying it on a crypto exchange. Storj Labs states that no new tokens can be created through mining, because the full supply was pre-mined at the start. Public material indicates that holding STORJ does not give a share in the company, but readers should confirm this in the project's own documents. An earlier token, SJCX, was exchanged 1:1 for STORJ in a conversion campaign that ran until October 2017.
Supply and market data
Data as of 2026-11-05 lists a price of about $0.0198, a market capitalisation of about $8.4 million and a 24-hour trading volume of about $2.4 million, with the token ranked 1365 by market capitalisation. Circulating and total supply are both about 425 million tokens, and no maximum supply is given. At that time the price was down about 6% over seven days and about 86% over one year. The all-time high in the data is $3.81 on 27 March 2021, and the all-time low is about $0.0197 on 4 November 2026. These figures change constantly and are included only as a snapshot, not as a forecast of where the price will go.
Chains
The data lists Ethereum and Harmony as the chains where STORJ is issued, and no native chain is recorded. Being issued on more than one chain means the same project name can appear as separate token versions, so the contract details matter. Before sending or receiving funds, check the contract address for each chain against the project's official information. Category listings in the data also include DePIN, storage, and the Harmony and Ethereum ecosystems. Tokens on a given chain are usually subject to that chain's fees and network conditions, which can affect the cost and speed of transfers.
Risks and holding safely
STORJ has fallen sharply over the past year, and its market size is small compared with the largest crypto assets, so its price can move quickly in either direction. Trading volume and liquidity can change, which can make large sales harder to complete at a fair price. The token's value depends on whether enough people and companies use the network, and the project itself competes with established cloud providers. Scam tokens and fake versions of well-known names are common, so verify contract addresses before trading. If you hold STORJ, use a wallet you control, keep your recovery phrase private and never share it. Only put in an amount you could afford to lose. Nothing here is financial advice.
By the numbers
Storj in numbers
Storj (STORJ) is ranked #1,368 by market capitalisation, with a market cap of about $8.12M and a price of $0.0191 as of Nov 6, 2026. Its fully diluted valuation ($8.12M) is close to its market cap, so little new supply is still to come.
The price was down 5.9% over 7 days, down 35.1% over 30 days, down 86.9% over the past year. It trades about 99% below its all-time high of $3.81, set on Mar 27, 2021.
About 425M STORJ are in circulation. No hard maximum supply is listed, so new tokens can still be issued.
24-hour trading volume was about $2.51M, or 31% of its market cap: very high turnover.
STORJ has token contracts on 2 chains we track, including Ethereum, Harmony. Always check the contract address before buying or bridging: copycat tokens often reuse a well-known name and ticker.
CoinGecko groups STORJ under DePIN tokens, Storage tokens.
