## What is Serum (SRM)?

Serum (SRM) is the token associated with Serum, a decentralized exchange protocol built on Solana. The protocol was designed around a fully on-chain order book, intended to support trading with the speed and cost profile of Solana. Serum’s mainnet program is now reported defunct following the collapse of Alameda Research and FTX. That means old descriptions of Serum as an active exchange may not reflect its current status, and you should not assume its original trading functions are available.

SRM still exists as a crypto token, but a token’s continued existence does not mean the project’s original services are operating. Serum was not the native token of a blockchain; it was associated with an application built on Solana. Other tokens with the SRM name are reported on Ethereum and Viction, so the network and token representation matter when identifying or transferring it.

## What was SRM used for?

SRM was designed as a utility token for the Serum ecosystem. Historically, it was associated with trading fee discounts on the Serum exchange. The project’s broader plans also connected SRM with participation in the ecosystem, but the reported defunct status of Serum’s mainnet program makes it important to distinguish intended or historical functions from services that are usable now.

There is no basis to assume SRM currently provides a working fee discount, governance right, staking return, or other benefit. Check whether a specific application still supports SRM and what that support actually does before relying on it. A wallet displaying SRM only confirms that it can show a token balance; it does not establish that the token has active utility or that the original exchange is functioning. Treat claims about current Serum services cautiously, especially if they rely on older project descriptions.

## Supply and supported chains

As of Nov. 5, 2026, the reported circulating supply of SRM was about 372.8 million tokens. Its reported total supply was about 9.99 billion, close to a stated maximum supply of 10 billion. These figures describe different measures: circulating supply estimates tokens available in the market, while total supply includes tokens that may not be circulating. Supply figures can change, so check a current source if the exact amount matters.

SRM is reported on Solana, Ethereum, and Viction, but it is not native to any of those chains. Tokens sharing a name or ticker across networks may be separate contract-based or bridged representations, rather than interchangeable assets. Before receiving or sending SRM, confirm that the wallet, exchange, or application supports the specific network and token contract you intend to use. Sending a token through an unsupported network can make recovery difficult or impossible.

## Risks and storage

SRM carries substantial project and market risk. The reported shutdown of Serum’s mainnet program means its original exchange functions should not be treated as available. The token’s association with the FTX and Alameda collapse may also affect confidence, access to services, and market liquidity. A token can continue trading even when its original project is inactive, and that trading alone does not show that it has practical use.

For storage, use a wallet or custodian that explicitly supports SRM on the network where your tokens are held. Verify the network and token contract before depositing or transferring, and be cautious of unofficial tokens using the same name or ticker. Protect your recovery phrase and private keys; anyone who obtains them may control the wallet. If SRM is held through a bridge or wrapped-token arrangement, there may be additional issuer, bridge, and redemption risks. Do not rely on an old Serum interface or token listing as proof that deposits, withdrawals, or trading remain available.

By the numbers

Serum in numbers

Serum (SRM) is ranked #2,432 by market capitalisation, with a market cap of about $1.88M and a price of $0.005034 as of Nov 6, 2026. Its fully diluted valuation is $50.3M, so roughly 4% of the eventual supply is in circulation today; tokens still to be released could add selling pressure.

The price was up 5.8% over 7 days, down 22.1% over 30 days, down 40.5% over the past year. It trades about 100% below its all-time high of $13.78, set on Sep 10, 2021.

About 372.78M SRM are in circulation out of a maximum supply of 10B (4% issued).

24-hour trading volume was about $10.2K, or 0.5% of its market cap: low turnover, so large orders can move the price.

SRM has token contracts on 3 chains we track, including Ethereum, Viction, Solana. Always check the contract address before buying or bridging: copycat tokens often reuse a well-known name and ticker.

SRM FAQs

What is Serum (SRM)?

SRM is the token associated with Serum, a decentralized exchange protocol built on Solana. Serum’s mainnet program is reported defunct, so SRM’s existence does not mean the original exchange is active.

What was the SRM token used for?

SRM was historically associated with trading fee discounts on Serum. Because the mainnet program is reported defunct, do not assume that this or any other original token function is currently usable.

Which chains support SRM?

SRM is reported on Solana, Ethereum, and Viction, but it is not native to those blockchains. Confirm the network and token contract supported by your wallet or exchange before transferring it.

What is the supply of SRM?

As of Nov. 5, 2026, the reported circulating supply was about 372.8 million SRM, with a total supply near 9.99 billion and a stated maximum of 10 billion. Supply figures can change and may be reported differently by different services.

What are the main risks of holding SRM?

The mainnet program is reported defunct, and SRM may have limited utility or liquidity. There are also risks from confusing tokens on different networks and from bridged or wrapped representations.

What is the market cap of Serum?

As of Nov 6, 2026, Serum had a market cap of about $1.88M, ranking #2,432 among cryptocurrencies by market capitalisation. Market cap is price multiplied by circulating supply, so it moves with the price.

What is the all-time high of SRM?

Serum's all-time high is $13.78, reached on Sep 10, 2021. Its all-time low is $0.0001671 (Jul 16, 2026). Past prices say nothing about future returns.

What is the circulating supply of SRM?

As of Nov 6, 2026, about 372.78M SRM were in circulation, against a maximum supply of 10B.

Which blockchains is SRM on?

It has token contracts on Ethereum, Viction, Solana.
