## What is Mountain Protocol USD?
Mountain Protocol USD (USDM) is a dollar-pegged stablecoin issued by Mountain Protocol. It is described as a fully backed, rebasing ERC-20 token. Its reserves are held with regulated financial institutions in segregated, bankruptcy-remote accounts for the benefit of users, according to the project description. The stated reserve backing includes U.S. Treasuries, whose interest generates USDM rewards.
USDM is designed to track one U.S. dollar, but a peg is a target, not a guarantee that every token can always be sold for exactly one dollar. The issuer says primary users can redeem USDM at a 1:1 USD value; access and conditions may depend on the issuer’s terms. That distinction matters if you are buying USDM on a secondary market rather than redeeming it through the issuer. USDM is not the native gas token of the networks where it is issued.
## How the rebase and rewards work
USDM’s defining feature is its daily rebase: the token balance in a holder’s wallet can increase as rewards are applied. The project says these rewards come from interest paid by U.S. Treasuries held in the USDM Reserves. This differs from a stablecoin that keeps the balance fixed while distributing yield through a separate token or claim. A growing balance does not mean each USDM is intended to become worth more than one dollar; the token’s stated peg remains one dollar.
Wallets, exchanges, and decentralized finance (DeFi) apps do not necessarily handle rebasing tokens in the same way. Some may display balance changes correctly, while others may not support rebase accounting or could show an outdated balance. Before depositing USDM into a lending market, exchange, or other app, check that the app explicitly supports the token’s rebasing behavior. Yield is not assured at a fixed rate: it depends on reserve income and the issuer’s distribution method, and the project description does not specify a guaranteed return.
## Chains, supply, and market data
USDM is issued on Ethereum, Base, Celo, Arbitrum, Avalanche, Optimism, Polygon, and zkSync Era. These are separate blockchain networks, so a token on one network is not automatically usable on another. Check the network selected in your wallet and in any app before sending USDM. A deposit to the wrong network or an unsupported address may be difficult or impossible to recover. Do not assume that tokens on different chains share the same contract address or that moving USDM between networks is risk-free.
The reported circulating supply was about 963,330 USDM and total supply about 1.40 million as of November 5, 2026. There is no stated maximum supply. Because USDM rebases, the number of tokens held by users can change, and supply figures may change as well. Its reported price was about $1.003 and market capitalization about $967,000 on that date; these figures are time-sensitive and do not establish that the peg will hold. USDM’s supply and market data should be checked again before relying on them.
## Risks to understand
USDM depends on more than blockchain code. Its backing involves U.S. Treasuries, financial institutions that hold the reserves, and Mountain Protocol’s ability to manage redemptions and the rebase. Custody, issuer, banking, legal, or operational problems could affect access to reserves or confidence in the peg. The token can also trade above or below one dollar, especially if liquidity is limited. Smart-contract faults, network outages, and weaknesses in third-party apps or bridges add separate technical risks. The project description does not remove these risks or guarantee a particular recovery outcome.
Rebasing behavior can create compatibility problems in DeFi and portfolio tools, even when the token balance updates correctly in a wallet. Check the issuer’s current redemption rules, reserve information, and contract details before relying on USDM. Consider whether you can tolerate a loss or delayed access, and do not treat the Treasury backing as a bank deposit or as a guarantee that you can redeem instantly.
## Holding and using USDM safely
To hold USDM, use a wallet that supports the network on which you receive it and can display rebasing tokens accurately. Confirm the network and token contract using the issuer’s official information before adding the asset or accepting a transfer. A familiar token name or ticker alone is not enough to identify the genuine token. Keep wallet recovery phrases and private keys offline and private; anyone who obtains them may be able to control the assets. A hardware wallet can help protect keys, but it does not remove market, issuer, or contract risks.
If you use USDM in a DeFi app, verify that the app supports rebasing tokens and review its deposit, withdrawal, and liquidation rules. Avoid sending a small balance to an unverified contract or relying on a bridge without understanding its risks. For redemption, consult Mountain Protocol’s current eligibility and procedures: the stated 1:1 redemption applies to primary users, and should not be assumed to be available to every holder on every chain.
By the numbers
Mountain Protocol USD in numbers
Mountain Protocol USD (USDM) is ranked #3,073 by market capitalisation, with a market cap of about $966K and a price of $1.00 as of Nov 6, 2026. Its fully diluted valuation is $1.41M, so roughly 69% of the eventual supply is in circulation today; tokens still to be released could add selling pressure.
The price was down 0.3% over 7 days, up 0.3% over 30 days, up 0.5% over the past year. It trades about 32% below its all-time high of $1.47, set on May 1, 2026.
About 963.33K USDM are in circulation, from a total supply of 1.4M. No hard maximum supply is listed.
24-hour trading volume was about $34, or 0.0% of its market cap: low turnover, so large orders can move the price.
USDM has token contracts on 8 chains we track, including Ethereum, Base, Celo, Arbitrum. Always check the contract address before buying or bridging: copycat tokens often reuse a well-known name and ticker.

USDM FAQs
Is USDM always worth one dollar?
USDM is designed to maintain a value of one U.S. dollar, but its market price can move above or below that target. The issuer says primary users can redeem at 1:1 USD value, subject to the issuer’s terms.
How does USDM generate rewards?
USDM rebases daily, so a holder’s token balance can increase as rewards are applied. The project says those rewards come from interest on U.S. Treasuries held in its reserves; a fixed reward rate is not stated.
Which networks support USDM?
USDM is issued on Ethereum, Base, Celo, Arbitrum, Avalanche, Optimism, Polygon, and zkSync Era. Confirm the network and token contract before sending or receiving it.
What backs Mountain Protocol USD?
The project describes USDM as fully backed, with reserves held in segregated, bankruptcy-remote accounts at regulated financial institutions. Reserve custody, the issuer, market liquidity, smart contracts, and DeFi integrations can still pose risks.
How can I store USDM?
Use a wallet that supports the relevant network and rebasing tokens, and verify the contract using the issuer’s official information. Protect your recovery phrase and private keys, and check that any DeFi app supports rebasing behavior before depositing.
