## What GYEN is

GYEN is a fiat-backed stablecoin issued by GMO-Z.com Trust Company, Inc. It was designed to represent one Japanese yen, so its intended reference value is JPY rather than the US dollar. Like other stablecoins, GYEN is a token that can be held and transferred on supported blockchains; it is not a native coin used to secure a blockchain network. Its intended peg does not mean its market price will always match the value of one yen. Trading prices can move with supply and demand, liquidity, and the yen’s exchange rate against other currencies. GMO Trust has announced that new GYEN issuance has ceased as part of an orderly wind-down. That change is important: GYEN should not be treated as an actively expanding stablecoin, and its future availability may differ from that of a project continuing to issue tokens.

## Networks and how to use it

GYEN tokens have been issued on Ethereum, Arbitrum, Solana, and Stellar. These are separate blockchain networks, so a GYEN token on one network is not automatically usable on another. Transfers, wallet support, and any available trading or app integrations depend on the specific network and service. Public information identifies GYEN as a yen-backed stablecoin, but does not establish that every exchange, decentralized application, or wallet supports it. Check that a platform explicitly supports GYEN on the network you intend to use before sending tokens. The reported market price was about $0.0063 per GYEN as of 2026-11-05, but that is a market quote in US dollars, not a promise of a particular yen value or a direct redemption rate. The price and availability can vary across venues, especially when trading activity is limited.

## Supply, price, and liquidity

Reported circulating supply and total supply were both about 384.2 million GYEN as of 2026-11-05. No maximum supply is reported. The market capitalization was about $2.4 million, and 24-hour trading volume was about $313 at that time; these figures change and should be treated as a snapshot, not a guarantee of current market depth. Low trading activity can make it harder to buy or sell at a desired price, and a quoted price may not be available for a large order. A stablecoin’s intended peg also does not prevent a market price from diverging from its reference currency. GYEN’s market value in US dollars can change as the yen moves against the dollar, even if GYEN tracks the yen closely. The supply figures do not establish that every holder can redeem directly with the issuer.

## Wind-down and redemption

GMO Trust says new issuance has ceased as part of an orderly wind-down. Eligible holders who want to redeem directly with GMO Trust must apply through the GMO Trust Platform by November 11, 2026, subject to the issuer’s applicable requirements. The deadline is close as of 2026-11-05, so holders should check the issuer’s current redemption instructions promptly rather than assume that a token can be redeemed at any time. Eligibility, required steps, and accepted tokens are determined by GMO Trust; holding GYEN in a wallet or on a trading platform does not by itself establish eligibility. If your tokens are held through an exchange or another service, check its procedures as well as the issuer’s requirements. Redemption through the issuer is distinct from selling GYEN on a market, where price and liquidity may differ.

## Risks and storage

GYEN carries issuer and redemption risk because its intended yen backing depends on the issuer’s arrangements and the terms available to holders. The wind-down adds uncertainty about ongoing issuance, market support, and where tokens can be traded. There are also ordinary crypto risks, including blockchain outages, incorrect transfers, wallet compromise, and smart-contract or custody failures. To store GYEN, use a wallet that explicitly supports the relevant network and token; confirm the network before receiving or sending funds. A token sent to an incompatible network or address may be difficult or impossible to recover. Verify token details through a trustworthy source before adding an asset to a wallet, since similarly named tokens can be counterfeit. Keep recovery phrases and private keys offline and private, and never share them to obtain redemption help. Consider the redemption deadline and your own eligibility before relying on GYEN as cash or a yen substitute.
