## What is Aura Finance?
Aura Finance is a DeFi protocol built around Balancer. It focuses on coordinating incentives for Balancer liquidity providers and people who stake or vote with vote-escrowed BAL (veBAL). In this context, vote-escrowed tokens are tied to governance participation, and Aura’s system is designed to help direct incentives toward liquidity pools.
AURA is Aura Finance’s token. It is associated with the protocol’s incentive and governance activities, rather than being a general-purpose coin for payments or a token native to a blockchain. Aura describes its purpose as helping Balancer liquidity providers and BAL stakers improve their potential rewards and governance influence. These are protocol goals, not guaranteed outcomes: returns depend on factors such as pool performance, incentive levels, token prices and fees.
Aura is best understood as a project built on top of Balancer’s DeFi system. Using it means taking on the risks of both Aura’s contracts and the underlying Balancer-related activity.
## What is AURA used for?
AURA is used within Aura Finance’s incentive and governance framework. The project’s design centers on veBAL and aims to coordinate incentives around vote-escrowed tokens. This can matter to liquidity providers seeking rewards, and to BAL stakers and voters seeking a role in governance. The protocol describes the intended effect as boosting yield potential and governance power, but neither higher yields nor influence over a particular decision is assured.
The exact benefits of holding AURA can depend on the protocol’s current rules and available features. Holding the token alone should not be assumed to provide a fixed return, voting weight, or claim on protocol revenue. Check Aura’s current documentation and the details of any specific pool or staking option before interacting with it.
AURA is not the same as BAL or veBAL. BAL is associated with Balancer, while veBAL refers to a vote-escrowed form used in governance. Aura’s role is to coordinate activity around that system, with AURA serving as its own protocol token.
## Supply and supported chains
As of 2026-11-05, AURA’s reported circulating supply is about 72.1 million tokens, its total supply is about 86.4 million, and its maximum supply is 100 million. Circulating supply is the portion reported as circulating; total supply includes tokens not currently counted as circulating. Maximum supply is the stated cap, not a promise about when all tokens will be released. Supply figures and classifications can change, so treat these as a dated snapshot.
AURA issuance is listed on Ethereum, Base and xDai. Aura’s ecosystem is also described as spanning nine chains, but that does not mean every chain has the same AURA contract or supports the same features. Check the network and token contract carefully before sending funds or using a bridge. A token with the same name on another network may not be an official Aura deployment.
AURA is not listed as the native token of a blockchain. It is a token used in the Aura Finance ecosystem, deployed on supported networks.
## Risks and storage
AURA has the risks common to DeFi tokens. Its market price can move sharply, and there may be limited trading activity or liquidity when you want to trade. The token’s value can also be affected by changes to Aura or Balancer, shifts in incentives, governance decisions and broader crypto-market conditions. A stated supply cap does not protect a token’s price or guarantee demand.
Using Aura-related pools, staking features or bridges adds technical risks. Smart contracts can contain vulnerabilities, and an exploit, outage or configuration error could lead to losses. Cross-chain transfers add the risks of bridges and choosing the wrong network. Rewards, if offered, can change and may not cover fees or losses. Read the current terms and understand the transaction before approving it.
For storage, use a wallet that supports the specific network and token contract you intend to hold. Verify the network and contract through Aura’s official materials before transferring AURA, and consider a hardware wallet if it supports that network. Keep your recovery phrase offline and private; no legitimate support agent needs it. A wallet protects access credentials, but it does not remove token, contract or market risk.
By the numbers
Aura Finance in numbers
Aura Finance (AURA) is ranked #2,537 by market capitalisation, with a market cap of about $1.68M and a price of $0.0232 as of Nov 6, 2026. Its fully diluted valuation is $2.01M, so roughly 83% of the eventual supply is in circulation today; tokens still to be released could add selling pressure.
The price was up 4.0% over 7 days, down 3.9% over 30 days, down 70.2% over the past year. It trades about 99% below its all-time high of $4.05, set on Mar 14, 2023.
About 72.14M AURA are in circulation out of a maximum supply of 100M (72% issued).
24-hour trading volume was about $6, or 0.0% of its market cap: low turnover, so large orders can move the price.
AURA has token contracts on 3 chains we track, including Ethereum, Base, xDai. Always check the contract address before buying or bridging: copycat tokens often reuse a well-known name and ticker.
AURA is linked to Aura, which we cover in our Yield Aggregator rankings. See our Aura page for how the protocol works and how we score it.
