Our verdict on Sharky
5.2/10Sharky suits experienced Solana users who hold NFTs and want SOL without selling, or who understand NFT collateral and accept receiving an NFT on default. Its main strength is the escrowless model, where borrowers keep their NFT during the loan. The main caveats are small TVL, no listed audits, unpublished fees, and NFT price risk. Treat it as a high-risk, small-scale product.

What is Sharky?
Sharky is an NFT lending and borrowing protocol on Solana. DefiLlama calls it the first escrowless NFT lending protocol on the network. Users borrow SOL against NFTs or lend SOL and earn interest.
The homepage says it was released on Solana in March 2022, with a public launch in April. DefiLlama has tracked it since April 2023.
Activity is small. TVL is about $88,784, down 14.9% over the past week, and DefiLlama lists no audits. The project has a token, SHARK.
How Sharky works
Sharky is a peer-to-peer market. Lenders post offers to lend SOL against NFTs from a collection. Borrowers pick an offer and receive SOL.
The protocol calls itself escrowless, so the borrower keeps the NFT while the loan runs. If the borrower repays, the loan closes. If not, the lender gets the NFT instead of the SOL back.
The lender's risk is the NFT's value at default. The borrower's risk is losing the NFT if they cannot repay in time.

Pros and cons
What we like
- Lets NFT holders get SOL without selling the NFT
- Escrowless design means the borrower keeps the NFT during the loan
- Lenders can earn interest in SOL and receive an NFT on default
- Runs on Solana, with generally low transaction costs
- Has been listed on DefiLlama since April 2023
Watch out for
- TVL is only about $88,784, which points to thin liquidity and limited lender depth
- TVL fell 14.9% over the past 7 days
- DefiLlama lists no audits for the protocol
- NFT collateral can lose value fast, so borrowers may lose their NFT on default
- Fees, interest rates and loan terms are not published publicly reviewed
- Solana-only, so users on other chains cannot use it
Sharky fees
Fees, interest rates and loan durations are not published publicly reviewed. DefiLlama's description mentions lenders can earn a high APY, but gives no figure.
Users should check the offers shown in the Sharky app and the Bitepaper before committing funds. Normal Solana network fees also apply to each transaction.
Is Sharky safe?
DefiLlama lists no audits for Sharky, and public sources reviewed mention no security reviews or incident history. Smart-contract risk should be treated as unquantified.
There is also market risk. NFT prices can drop quickly and may be hard to sell, so a defaulted loan may leave a lender with an NFT worth less than the SOL lent. Check the legal status of such activity where you live, and only use funds you can afford to lose.
6 steps
How to get started with Sharky
- 1
Set up a Solana wallet and fund it with some SOL for transaction fees.
- 2
Open the official Sharky site and read the Bitepaper to understand the loan model.
- 3
Browse the Lend Offers or Borrow Loans sections to see current terms.
- 4
As a borrower, pick an NFT and an offer, and check the interest and loan duration.
- 5
As a lender, choose a collection and terms you are comfortable with, knowing you may receive the NFT on default.
- 6
Start with a small amount and track the repayment deadline.
Who Sharky is for
Sharky is for Solana NFT holders who want short-term SOL liquidity, and for lenders who can value NFT collections and accept taking ownership of an NFT on default. It is not suited to beginners or anyone who wants predictable, audited, deep-liquidity lending.
Sharky FAQs
What is Sharky?
Sharky is an NFT lending and borrowing protocol on Solana. Borrowers take SOL against an NFT, and lenders supply SOL and earn interest.
Does Sharky take custody of my NFT?
Sharky describes itself as escrowless, meaning the borrower keeps the NFT while the loan is open. If the loan is not repaid, the lender gets the NFT.
Which blockchain does Sharky use?
Public sources reviewed list only Solana. Users need a Solana wallet and SOL to take part.
Is Sharky audited?
DefiLlama lists no audits for Sharky. It also shows a small TVL of about $88,784, so users should treat the protocol as higher risk and only commit what they can afford to lose.
Does Sharky have a token?
Public sources name a token with the ticker SHARK. They do not explain its utility, so check the official documentation before relying on it.
What happens if a loan is not repaid?
Lenders receive the NFT collateral instead of repayment. Whether that covers the loan depends on the NFT's market value at that time, which can be volatile and illiquid.
