Sceptre Liquid Review 2026: sFLR Liquid Staking on Flare

Sceptre Liquid is a liquid staking protocol on Flare that gives users sFLR in return for staked FLR. It holds roughly $12.8 million in TVL, and its fees and audit reports should be checked before use.

By the DappsAtlas editorial team · Updated

Our verdict on Sceptre Liquid

7.0/10

Sceptre Liquid suits Flare holders who want staking rewards while keeping a liquid sFLR token they can use elsewhere in DeFi. Its main strengths are a straightforward receipt-token model, two listed audits and a meaningful amount of staked value. The main caveat is that fees, validator choices and audit details are not published, and as with any liquid staking product there is smart-contract and price-peg risk. Read the audits and fee terms first.

What is Sceptre Liquid?

Sceptre Liquid is a liquid staking protocol built by Rome Blockchain Labs. Its main product is Sceptre Liquid Staking for Flare, where users stake FLR or wrapped FLR and receive sFLR in return. It describes itself as a multi-network liquid staking solution.

On a DeFi tracking listing, Sceptre has around $12.8 million in total value locked on Flare, down about 2.2% over seven days. It has been listed since June 2024 and shows two audits. The project's own announcement says over 2 billion FLR tokens had been staked with it at one point.

The protocol has no native token listed. The only token tied to the product is the sFLR receipt token, which is quoted on market data sites at around a cent.

How Sceptre Liquid works

Liquid staking lets users earn staking rewards without locking tokens in a form they cannot use. With Sceptre on Flare, you deposit FLR or wrapped FLR and receive sFLR. The sFLR token is a receipt for your deposit plus accruing rewards.

The protocol pools deposits and puts them to work to earn network rewards. Those rewards raise the value of sFLR relative to FLR over time, so the exchange rate moves up rather than the token balance changing. Public reporting for the related MPC deployment show a stat of 1.0000 exchange rate, which shows the same receipt-token model.

Because sFLR is a normal token, it can be moved, traded or used in other DeFi applications. The trade-off is the added smart-contract layer and the chance that its market price moves away from its redemption value.

6 features

Key features

01

sFLR receipt token

Stake FLR or wrapped FLR and receive sFLR, a receipt token that represents your position.

02

Accruing rewards

Staking rewards accrue to the position while you hold the token, instead of requiring manual claiming from a validator.

03

DeFi composability

sFLR can be used in other DeFi applications, so staked capital need not sit idle.

04

Multi-network design

The protocol describes a multi-network approach, with Flare as its main listed chain and a separate MPC deployment also appearing.

05

Audits listed

The protocol lists two audits, which is a positive sign for a contract-based staking product.

06

Market visibility

The sFLR price can be tracked on market data sites and on a cross-chain price tracker.

Pros and cons

What we like

  • Clear, simple model: stake FLR, receive a tradeable sFLR receipt token
  • Two audits are listed for the protocol
  • Rewards accrue to the position without manual claiming
  • Sizeable TVL of roughly $12.8 million on Flare
  • Operated by a named development company, Rome Blockchain Labs
  • sFLR is tracked on market data sites and can be used across DeFi

Watch out for

  • Smart-contract risk: staked FLR is held in contracts, and audit details are not summarised
  • Concentrated on Flare, so the product depends on that single network's health and adoption
  • sFLR carries market and liquidity risk and can trade differently from its underlying value
  • No fee schedule or validator-selection details
  • The team behind it is described only as Rome Blockchain Labs, with little further detail published here
  • No native governance token is listed, so there is no direct way to take part in protocol decisions

Sceptre Liquid fees

Sceptre's fee structure is not published in the material available for this review. Liquid staking protocols commonly take a share of staking rewards as a protocol fee, but the actual percentage here is not confirmed.

Expect to pay Flare network transaction fees when staking or unstaking, plus any DEX fees if you swap sFLR instead of redeeming it. Check the staking interface for current fee and withdrawal terms before depositing.

Is Sceptre Liquid safe?

Two audits are listed for Sceptre, which is a positive sign, but the auditors and reports are not detailed in the material reviewed. Readers should open the audit reports and check the scope, severity findings and whether issues were fixed.

Staked funds sit in smart contracts, so a bug or exploit could put deposits at risk. There is also the risk that sFLR trades below the value of the FLR it represents. The project's own regulatory status is not published. No security incidents appear, but that is not a guarantee of safety.

6 steps

How to get started with Sceptre Liquid

  1. 1

Set up a Flare-compatible wallet and fund it with FLR for staking and gas.

  2. 2

Open the Sceptre staking interface through the project's official channels and connect the wallet.

  3. 3

Check the current fee, exchange rate and unstaking terms shown in the interface.

  4. 4

Deposit FLR or wrapped FLR and approve the transaction.

  5. 5

Receive sFLR in your wallet and keep it, or use it in other Flare DeFi apps if you choose.

  6. 6

When ready, redeem sFLR through the protocol or swap it on a DEX, noting any waiting period or slippage.

Who Sceptre Liquid is for

Sceptre suits FLR holders who want staking yield without giving up liquidity, and DeFi users on Flare who want a staking token to use in other applications. It is less suitable for people who want a protocol with a governance token, or who are unwilling to accept smart-contract risk.

Sceptre Liquid FAQs

What is sFLR?

sFLR is the receipt token issued by Sceptre when you stake FLR or wrapped FLR. It represents your staked position, and rewards accrue to it over time. You can hold it or use it in other DeFi applications that support it.

Who built Sceptre Liquid?

Sceptre is built by Rome Blockchain Labs, according to the protocol's listing description. Further details about the team are not published in the material reviewed.

Which networks does Sceptre support?

The protocol is listed on Flare. A separate Sceptre deployment for another network also appears in public reporting, which fits the description of a multi-network liquid staking solution.

Has Sceptre been audited?

Two audits are listed for the protocol. The reports themselves and their scope were not available for review, so read them directly before depositing.

Is staking with Sceptre safe?

Liquid staking carries smart-contract risk, receipt-token price risk and dependence on the underlying chain. Rewards are not guaranteed to be constant. Only stake what you can afford to have locked in a contract.

How much is staked on Sceptre?

The protocol's own announcement says over 2 billion FLR had been staked with Sceptre at one point. Current TVL on a tracking listing is about $12.8 million, and the two figures differ by timing and measurement.
