RARI Chain Review 2026: An Arbitrum L3 That Enforces NFT Royalties

RARI Chain is an Ethereum layer 3 network built on Arbitrum that aims to enforce creator royalties on NFT trades at the node level. It is aimed at NFT creators and their collectors, and it is still early in its ecosystem.

Our verdict on Rari Chain

5.5/10

RARI Chain is worth a look for NFT creators and collectors who care about royalties being paid on-chain and who want Ethereum tooling. Its main strength is the node-level royalty check, which is unusual among chains. Its main caveat is that the project publishes no fee schedule and no audit report in the material reviewed, and activity on the chain is still small. Treat it as an early, specialised network and check current fees and security documents before committing funds.

What is Rari Chain?

RARI Chain is an Ethereum layer 3 network built on Arbitrum and run by the RARI Foundation. Its stated purpose is to support NFT creators by making royalty payments hard to avoid. The project launched a testnet on Arbitrum in late 2023 and announced mainnet availability in early 2024.

The chain is EVM-equivalent, which the project says lets developers use Ethereum tooling and smart contracts. It also offers an NFT-focused experience, with a Rarible marketplace integration and a homepage that promotes minting and trading without gas concerns.

The ecosystem is still early. Data aggregators record no total value locked and no listed audits at the time of review, and the project's own news page points to DeFi Days incentives, quests and an integration with Espresso Systems announced in January 2025. Use of the chain is therefore best read as an early-stage bet on creator royalties rather than an established DeFi venue.

How Rari Chain works

RARI Chain is a network that sits above Arbitrum, which is itself a scaling network built on Ethereum. Transactions on RARI Chain are batched and posted back to Arbitrum, and Arbitrum posts its data to Ethereum, so security is inherited from those layers. This structure is what the project means by an Ethereum layer 3.

What sets RARI Chain apart is where royalties are enforced. On most networks, a royalty is a contract-level setting that a marketplace can choose to honour or skip. The project says it moved the check into the node software, so that each NFT transfer on ERC-721 and ERC-1155 contracts is tested for a royalty payment before it executes. A transfer that fails the test is reverted and does not complete.

For a newcomer, the practical effect is that a sale on the chain should carry the creator's preset royalty as long as it runs through the chain's rules. The project says payments in ETH and ERC-20 tokens are covered. Whether this works as described in every situation is something the project's own documentation would need to show in detail.

5 features

Key features

01

Node-level royalty enforcement

The network checks royalty payments before NFT transfers execute, and a failed check reverts the transaction, according to the project.

02

EVM-equivalent layer 3

The chain is described as EVM-equivalent, so Ethereum-style smart contracts and tools are intended to run without rewriting.

03

Inherited Ethereum security

The project says it inherits Ethereum security through Arbitrum and offers fast block confirmation times.

04

Rarible marketplace integration

The homepage says the chain is integrated with the Rarible marketplace, which gives NFT trading a built-in venue.

05

Rewards and quests

The project has run DeFi Days, a six-week program with extra yield, and Galxe quests that reward users for on-chain activity.

Pros and cons

What we like

  • Royalty enforcement is built into the node software rather than left to each marketplace.
  • Built on Arbitrum, so it inherits Ethereum security according to the project.
  • EVM-equivalent design means existing Ethereum tooling is intended to work.
  • Integration with the Rarible marketplace gives NFT creators a ready venue.
  • The project publishes a clear description of its royalty check, which makes the mechanism easier to test.

Watch out for

  • The project does not publish a fee schedule, so the low-cost claims cannot be checked against exact numbers.
  • Its own materials list no security audits, and the data aggregators show none listed.
  • Royalty enforcement lives in modified node software, so it depends on the RARI Foundation maintaining that code and on users running it.
  • Rust, C and C++ smart contract support is marked as coming soon, so Solidity is the main development path for now.
  • Total value locked is recorded as zero, so there is little on-chain DeFi activity to judge the chain by.
  • Its governance runs through the RARI DAO community, and the project does not publish details of how decisions are made.

Rari Chain fees

RARI Chain's homepage describes transaction costs as low and says gas is not a consideration for creating, minting or trading NFTs on the chain. It does not publish a fee table, gas price figures or any fee discounts in the material available.

For current costs, users would need to check the chain details and block explorer linked from the official site, since fees on an Arbitrum-based network can change with demand and with the costs of posting data to Ethereum.

Is Rari Chain safe?

RARI Chain's materials describe inherited Ethereum security through Arbitrum, but the project does not publish a security audit report in the material reviewed, and data aggregators show no audits listed. Users should ask for audit reports before depositing significant funds.

Counterparty and bridge risk are the main concerns for any user moving funds onto the chain. Funds that cross a bridge depend on the bridge's code and on the chain's own rules for handling deposits. Smart contracts on the chain carry the usual risk of bugs and exploits, and a new network has less history of incidents to judge.

The chain is a blockchain rather than a gambling or custody service, so no licensing regime applies to it as described. Anyone using crypto-based services should be 18 or over and treat any holdings as at risk of loss.

6 steps

How to get started with Rari Chain

  1. 1

Read the chain details page on the official site to find the network settings for your wallet.

  2. 2

Add RARI Chain to a wallet that supports custom EVM networks, using the published settings.

  3. 3

Move a small amount of ETH or USDC across using the bridge linked from the official homepage.

  4. 4

Confirm the balance arrived on RARI Chain in the block explorer before sending larger amounts.

  5. 5

Connect to an NFT marketplace on the chain, such as the Rarible integration the project describes.

  6. 6

Check the Status and Governance pages on the official site before trading, to see network health and current decisions.

Who Rari Chain is for

RARI Chain is aimed at NFT creators who want royalties enforced on the network itself, at collectors who trade NFTs and want to avoid royalty-skipping, and at developers who want an EVM-equivalent layer 3 for NFT or creator applications. It is less suited to users looking for a mature DeFi venue, since its on-chain activity is still limited.

Rari Chain FAQs

What is RARI Chain?

RARI Chain is a blockchain that settles on top of Arbitrum, which itself settles to Ethereum. Each layer adds a separate network that batches activity down to the layer beneath it. The project describes RARI Chain as an EVM-equivalent layer 3, so Ethereum developer tools are meant to work with little change.

How does RARI Chain enforce NFT royalties?

The project says that NFT transactions for ERC-721 and ERC-1155 contracts pass a royalty check before they run. If the payment for the royalty is missing, the transaction reverts. The check covers payments made in ETH and ERC-20 tokens, according to the project's own description.

What does it cost to use RARI Chain?

The project does not publish a fee schedule on its homepage. Its marketing describes gas costs for NFT actions as very low, and one review site reports fast confirmations. Actual costs depend on network conditions, so check the block explorer or the chain details page before you rely on any figure.

How do I get funds onto RARI Chain?

The official site says funds can be moved over from Ethereum through its bridge, and that paying with ETH, USDC or a credit card avoids a separate bridging step. Bridged funds carry bridge risk, so only move amounts you can afford to have delayed or lost while you check each step.
