Lisk Bridge Review 2026: Canonical Bridge Winding Down

Lisk Bridge was the canonical bridge linking Ethereum to the Lisk L2. The chain is being wound down, so this is now an exit route rather than a place to build.

Our verdict on Lisk Bridge

3.5/10

Lisk Bridge matters now only as an exit route. If you still hold LSK, ETH or DeFi positions on the Lisk chain, the priority is to unstake, withdraw and bridge to Ethereum before the October 31 shutdown. Its main strength was being the official Ethereum link for the Lisk L2. The main caveat is that the chain it served is closing, no audits are listed, and fees are not published. New users have no reason to start using it.

What is Lisk Bridge?

Lisk Bridge was the canonical bridge between Ethereum and the Lisk network after Lisk moved to an Ethereum layer 2 in 2024. It let users bring ETH and tokens onto the Lisk L2 and withdraw them again.

That role is ending. Lisk has said it will shut down its blockchain on October 31 after 10 years, and its own site says the Chain and DAO wind down on a defined timeline. One report says the Lisk Portal and Bridge are closing in stages, with LSK to be burned after full shutdown.

Lisk itself is now a money operations platform for finance teams, offering accounts, payments and portfolios across bank and stablecoin rails. The bridge is a legacy product, and this page is mainly useful to people who still hold assets on the Lisk chain.

How Lisk Bridge works

A canonical bridge is the official link between a layer 1 chain and a layer 2 built on top of it. Users lock or send assets on one side, and the matching assets become available on the other. For an Ethereum L2 like Lisk, this is how ETH and tokens move between Ethereum and the L2.

DeFiLlama tracks this bridge on Ethereum, with about 2.6 million dollars in value locked and a 7-day drop of roughly 43 percent, consistent with users leaving as the chain closes.

As the chain winds down, the bridge's main job is to let users withdraw to Ethereum. Lisk has said Chain assets, including DeFi positions, must be bridged to Ethereum by October 31.

4 features

Key features

01

Canonical Ethereum bridge

It served as the official route for moving assets between Ethereum and the Lisk L2, which Lisk moved to in 2024.

02

Wallet-based bridging

Users could add the Lisk network to a wallet, claim LSK as an ERC-20 token and bridge ETH through the Lisk Portal.

03

Exit path to Ethereum

Lisk has told users to bridge Lisk Chain assets, including DeFi positions, back to Ethereum before the October 31 shutdown.

04

Staged closure

One report says the Portal and Bridge are closing in stages as the network is wound down.

Pros and cons

What we like

  • Was the official canonical route between Ethereum and the Lisk L2
  • Lisk has publicly told users to bridge to Ethereum before the shutdown
  • Ethereum is the destination for exits, a widely supported network
  • Lisk has a clear stated timeline and ongoing communication on social channels

Watch out for

  • The Lisk chain is being shut down, so the bridge has no long-term use
  • Assets not bridged to Ethereum before the deadline risk being stranded
  • Staked LSK needs about 3 days to unstake, which cuts into the exit window
  • DeFiLlama lists no audits for the bridge
  • Locked value dropped sharply over the past week as users left
  • Fees and bridge limits are not published

Lisk Bridge fees

The bridge's fees are not published. Bridging between Ethereum and an L2 normally involves Ethereum gas costs and sometimes a withdrawal delay. The bridge interface would show the exact amounts before a transaction is confirmed.

LSK staking has its own timing cost: unstaking takes 3 days, which matters when a shutdown deadline is close.

Is Lisk Bridge safe?

DeFiLlama lists no audits for the bridge, and the audit history is not described. Bridges concentrate risk in their contracts and their upgrade or multisig controls. Lisk's governance page says the project is governed by the Lisk DAO and Onchain Foundation, and mentions a 3-of-5 multi-signature wallet.

The main practical risk now is timing. Funds left on a chain that has closed may be hard or impossible to recover, so verify the deadline through official channels only and beware of phishing links posing as migration tools. This page does not describe the regulatory status of the bridge, which is not published.

6 steps

How to get started with Lisk Bridge

  1. 1

Check the official Lisk announcements and support pages for the current shutdown timeline and bridge status.

  2. 2

List everything you hold on the Lisk chain, including tokens and DeFi positions.

  3. 3

Unstake any staked LSK first, allowing the 3-day unstaking period.

  4. 4

Close or withdraw DeFi positions on Lisk where needed.

  5. 5

Bridge your assets to Ethereum well before the deadline, with at least seven days of margin.

  6. 6

Confirm the assets arrived in your Ethereum wallet and keep a record of the transactions.

Who Lisk Bridge is for

This page is for people who still hold LSK, ETH or DeFi positions on the Lisk chain and need to move them to Ethereum. It is not for anyone looking for a long-term bridge, since the chain it connects is closing.

Lisk Bridge FAQs

Is Lisk Bridge shutting down?

Lisk has said it will shut down its blockchain on October 31 after about 10 years. Users with assets on the Lisk chain, including DeFi positions, are told to bridge them to Ethereum before then, and at least seven days ahead according to one report.

How do I move my assets off Lisk?

Lisk has told users to move Lisk Chain assets, including DeFi positions, back to Ethereum before the deadline. Staked LSK takes 3 days to unstake, so users should start early. Follow the instructions in the official Lisk announcements and support pages.

What happens to the LSK token?

Reports say LSK will be burned after the full shutdown. Lisk also states that the LSK token is now available on Hyperliquid. The detailed token plan is in Lisk's own announcements, which holders should read.

Is Lisk still a blockchain project?

No. Lisk is repositioning as a money operations platform for finance teams, with accounts, payments and portfolios across fiat and stablecoin rails. The Chain and DAO are being wound down.

What does Lisk Bridge cost?

The bridge's own fees and limits are not published. Any transaction on Ethereum still costs network gas, and the bridge interface would show the exact amounts before you confirm.

Was Lisk Bridge audited?

DeFiLlama lists no audits for it. As a canonical bridge it was the official route between the L1 and L2, but with the chain closing, the safest course is to exit promptly and verify everything through official channels.
