Our verdict on Hakutora

6.0/10

Hakutora suits experienced DeFi users who want stablecoin yield from a managed set of arbitrage and carry strategies, particularly through its Morpho vaults on Ethereum. Its strength is a clearly explained strategy set with risk monitoring and optional emergency withdrawals. The main caveat is trust: it lists no audits, publishes no fees or team details, and some strategies rely on off-chain venues. Only deposit amounts you can afford to lose.

What is Hakutora?

Hakutora is an on-chain asset management and risk curation project. It says it uncovers on-chain opportunities, manages risk and offers a one-stop platform for on-chain asset management. It is tracked on Ethereum and has been listed since May 2025.

The team says it launched publicly on February 1, 2025. Its X account says it grew from $0 to $36M and that its USDC vault was whitelisted on Morpho. Third-party data pages also list Hakutora USDT on Morpho and a staked Falcon USD share token with 115 holders. The homepage cites $40M accumulated TVL, while tracked TVL is about $15.9M, down roughly 19% in a week.

The homepage targets three groups: DeFi earn users, apps and communities, and DeFi protocols. It does not name the team, a legal entity or any audit.

How Hakutora works

Hakutora acts as a curator and manager. Users deposit assets, mostly stablecoins, into vaults or strategies. Hakutora decides where the funds go, aiming to earn yield from low-risk opportunities while monitoring the protocols involved.

The strategies it describes are arbitrage-style. Spread arbitrage exploits price gaps between exchanges. Carry trade earns the difference between borrowing and lending rates. Depeg arbitrage buys stablecoins or liquid staking tokens that trade below their expected value. Liquidation arbitrage buys discounted collateral when lending positions are liquidated.

On Morpho, a curator picks which markets a vault lends into and sets risk limits. Depositors receive vault shares and the yield comes from borrowers and strategy returns. Some of Hakutora's strategies also use off-chain venues, so part of the process cannot be verified on-chain.

7 features

Key features

01

Function-level protocol analysis

Hakutora says it analyses DeFi protocols at function level and applies risk control before allocating funds.

02

Automatic emergency withdrawal

With user permission, it offers automatic withdrawal in extreme situations to protect deposited funds.

03

Spread arbitrage

Buys and sells across CEX or DEX in a short window to capture price differences, described as market-neutral.

04

Carry trade strategies

Earns interest-rate spreads by borrowing low and lending high across on-chain and off-chain lending, rate products, perpetuals and options hedges.

05

Depeg arbitrage

Buys stablecoins or liquid staking tokens at a discount during panic selling and profits when safety is confirmed or via mint/redeem access.

06

Liquidation arbitrage

Buys collateral at a discount from bad-debt liquidations on lending platforms, using off-chain pricing to widen volume.

07

Tools for apps and communities

Offers documentation, strategy recommendations and risk tools for apps and communities, with some customization.

Pros and cons

What we like

  • Clear description of four strategy types, each with its mechanism explained
  • Vaults appear on Morpho, a widely used lending protocol, via third-party listings
  • Offers optional automatic withdrawal in extreme market events, with user permission
  • Stablecoin-focused approach aims at lower-volatility yield
  • No native token to buy, so no token price exposure

Watch out for

  • No audits are listed, and the project publishes no security reviews of its strategies or vault setup
  • Strategies rely on off-chain and CEX activity, which adds counterparty and operational risk that on-chain users cannot easily verify
  • Team, legal entity and track record are not published on the homepage
  • TVL fell about 19% over the last seven days, and the homepage cites a larger TVL figure than current tracked data
  • The automatic withdrawal service needs user permission, which adds a trust and permission layer
  • Fees are not published, so net returns are hard to estimate

Hakutora fees

Hakutora does not publish fees on its homepage. There is no stated management fee, performance fee or withdrawal charge.

For vault products, fee settings are typically visible on the vault page of the lending protocol hosting it, and users should read them there before depositing. Standard Ethereum gas costs apply to deposits and withdrawals.

Is Hakutora safe?

No audits are listed for Hakutora. The homepage does not describe custody arrangements, multisig controls, insurance or a bug bounty. Users should review vault contracts and the protocols the vaults allocate into.

Risk comes from several layers: smart-contract risk in underlying protocols, curator allocation decisions, stablecoin and liquid staking depeg events, and counterparty risk where strategies use CEXs or off-chain pricing. The permissioned auto-withdrawal feature also needs careful reading before granting access.

Hakutora does not state its regulatory status or team identities. No incidents are reported.

  3. 3

Confirm you are using the official site and vault addresses from the project's verified X account.

  4. 4

Prepare a wallet with the stablecoin you want to deposit and ETH for gas on Ethereum.

  5. 5

  6. 6

Decide whether to grant permission for the automatic withdrawal service, and understand what you are authorizing first.

  7. 7

Monitor the vault's allocations and APY over time.

Who Hakutora is for

Hakutora fits stablecoin holders comfortable with DeFi vaults who want a curator to handle allocation and risk monitoring. It also suits apps and communities looking for strategy and risk tooling. Beginners and anyone who needs audited, fully transparent custody should be cautious.
