Beets LST Review 2026: stS Liquid Staking on Sonic

Beets LST is the liquid staking hub on Sonic, built around the stS token and Balancer v3 liquidity pools. It is a niche, small-TVL protocol aimed at users who want to stake S and keep it usable in DeFi.

Good

Our verdict on Beets LST

6.5/10

Beets LST suits Sonic users who want to stake S, keep it liquid as stS and use it in LST-focused Balancer v3 pools. Its main strengths are a clear product focus, open-source code, listed audits and a maturity-based governance design. The main caveat is size: TVL is a few million dollars and falling, volume is low and the BEETS token is small, so liquidity and smart-contract risk deserve careful attention.

What is Beets LST?

Beets is a DeFi protocol that describes itself as the flagship liquid staking hub on Sonic. Its core product is stS, a liquid staking token for Sonic's S, alongside liquidity pools focused on liquid staking tokens. It also lists sFTMx, a liquid staked token for Fantom, which reflects its earlier history on that chain.

The app covers Pools, Swap, Portfolio, staking of S and the maBEETS governance position. Pools run on Balancer v3. The BEETS token is used for governance through maBEETS, and third-party pages note it has a small market cap and has been listed on Binance Alpha.

Scale is modest. DeFiLlama tracks about $4.3m in TVL, down 10.8% over seven days, while the homepage shows $5.55m. Daily volume and fees are small. The protocol has been tracked since February 2024 and DeFiLlama lists two audits.

How Beets LST works

When you stake S through Beets, you receive stS, a liquid staking token. The underlying S helps secure Sonic by distributing consensus power, and stS reflects staking rewards while remaining transferable, so it can go into lending markets or liquidity pools.

Beets also runs an exchange built on Balancer v3. Pools hold LSTs and related tokens, and liquidity providers earn a share of swap fees plus any incentives. Balancer v3 adds custom pools, hooks for extra logic, and boosted pools that connect to lending for extra yield.

For governance, users add liquidity to the Fresh Beets pool, an 80/20 BEETS/stS pool, and receive fBEETS. Depositing fBEETS creates a maBEETS position linked to a relic NFT. Voting power and rewards increase with the position's maturity and size, without locking the assets.

Pros and cons

What we like

  • Dedicated liquid staking token (stS) for Sonic, with yield while keeping capital liquid.
  • Pools built on Balancer v3, with custom pools, hooks and boosted pools.
  • maBEETS gives governance power based on maturity rather than a hard lock.
  • Code is described as open source and audited; DeFiLlama lists two audits.
  • Supports the Fantom sFTMx token as well as Sonic's stS.

Watch out for

  • TVL is small (about $4.3m on the tracked figure) and fell 10.8% over seven days, so liquidity is thin.
  • 24h volume and fees shown on the homepage are low, which limits fee income for liquidity providers.
  • The BEETS token has a small market cap and low trading volume, per third-party price pages.
  • Depends on Balancer v3 code and on Sonic network security, adding layers of smart-contract risk.
  • The audit firms and reports are not named in its homepage, so readers must open the audit page to check them.
  • Some older pools have been retired, and one user thread describes confusion about finding old positions.

Beets LST fees

Fee levels for staking and pools are not stated on its homepage. The homepage shows 24h fees of about $838.72 against $100.52k of 24h volume, which indicates a low average swap fee tier, but this is an aggregate, not a rate.

Pool swap fees vary by pool and are shown in the Pools section of the app. Any staking fee on stS and network gas costs on Sonic should be checked in the app and docs before depositing.

Is Beets LST safe?

The homepage says contracts are audited, the code is open source and security is monitored continuously, and DeFiLlama lists two audits. The auditors, scope and dates are not in its homepage, so check the audits page. Staking and pools are non-custodial in design, but funds sit in smart contracts, so bugs or exploits are a real risk.

Additional risks come from reliance on Balancer v3 components and the Sonic network, plus stS depegging from S in stressed markets. The protocol has a dedicated Risks page and Terms of Use. No team names or incident history are given in the material reviewed. This is not financial advice.

6 steps

How to get started with Beets LST

  1. 1

Set up a wallet that supports Sonic and fund it with S.

  2. 2

Open the Beets app and connect the wallet.

  3. 3

Use the Stake S page to convert S to stS and review the displayed yield.

  4. 4

Browse the Pools page to compare LST pools, their fees and rewards before adding liquidity.

  5. 5

Optionally join the Fresh Beets pool (80/20 BEETS/stS) and deposit fBEETS to create a maBEETS position.

  6. 6

Read the audits page, docs and risk page, and monitor positions in the Portfolio view.

Who Beets LST is for

Beets suits DeFi users on Sonic who hold S and want staking yield without giving up liquidity, and liquidity providers comfortable with Balancer-style pools. It is less suitable for beginners who want a large, battle-tested protocol or anyone who cannot accept smart-contract and token-price risk.

Beets LST FAQs

What is stS on Beets?

stS is the liquid staking token for Sonic's S token. You convert S to stS on Beets, earn staking yield, and can use stS in lending markets and liquidity pools while it keeps accruing rewards.

Does Beets support Fantom as well as Sonic?

Beets originated as Beethoven X on Fantom and still lists the sFTMx liquid staking token for Fantom. Its current focus is Sonic, where it positions itself as the flagship LST hub.

What is maBEETS?

maBEETS is a governance and rewards position. You add liquidity to the Fresh Beets pool (80/20 BEETS/stS) to receive fBEETS, then deposit it to mint a maBEETS position tied to a relic NFT. Voting power and rewards grow as the position matures rather than through a lock-up.

Is Beets audited?

The homepage says the code is audited and open source, and DeFiLlama lists two audits. The protocol does not name the auditors in its homepage, so check its audits page. Audits reduce risk but do not remove it.

How does Balancer v3 relate to Beets?

Beets runs liquidity pools on Balancer v3, which supports custom pools, a hooks framework for added pool logic, and boosted pools that integrate lending. This is the technology behind its LST-focused pools and swaps.

Can I lose money using Beets?

Yes. Smart-contract bugs, validator or network problems on Sonic, stS price deviating from S, and impermanent loss in liquidity pools are all possible. Only use funds you can afford to lose.
