What ONyc is

ONyc, the token from OnRe, is a yield-bearing asset on Solana that gives holders exposure to reinsurance returns. Reinsurance is the insurance that insurers buy to offload part of their own risk, and it has historically been hard for ordinary crypto users to reach. OnRe says it is licensed to deploy digital assets as insurance collateral, and it describes ONyc as its first product.

According to the project, ONyc is a multi-collateral token backed by stablecoins. The capital is used to underwrite real-world private placements, and premiums from the reinsurance activity feed the yield. One search result describes the token as exposure to a tokenized fund issued through On Re SAC Ltd., which is a useful reminder that the token represents an off-chain structure and not a simple on-chain vault.

The project's description says ONyc is currently collateralized in sUSDe, so some yield comes from crypto-native sources on top of the insurance premiums. The token is categorized as a real-world asset token and also appears in yield-bearing stablecoin lists, though its price is not pegged to a dollar in a strict sense. It trades around the dollar level but has drifted upward over time.

What the token is used for

ONyc is designed to work as a yield-bearing dollar-style asset within DeFi. The project's documentation says it can be held, traded and used across supported Solana protocols. Rather than paying out interest as separate tokens, the value of each ONyc is meant to rise as yield accrues. The documentation says the net asset value used for minting and redemption is calculated from parameters stored in the smart contract: a base price, an annual rate and a time component.

The project also says ONyc can be used as collateral. A Kamino integration lets users borrow against it or loop it for leveraged yield, and the project cited base yields above 14% at the time of that announcement, split between insurance premiums and stablecoin yield. A later post from OnRe describes a maturity-based setup with three options: farming for leveraged yield, providing liquidity for swap fees, or locking a fixed rate until maturity.

The project's own description targets a base yield above 16%. Treat all such figures as targets or announcement-time numbers, not guarantees.

Supply and tokenomics

ONyc has no stated maximum supply. As of 2026-11-05, about 102.7 million tokens were circulating out of roughly 264.6 million in total supply. Market capitalization was about $119.2 million, and fully diluted value was about $307.3 million, a gap that reflects the difference between circulating and total supply.

The price was about $1.16, with an all-time high of about $1.17 on 2026-07-25 and an all-time low of about $1.005 on 2025-07-24. The token gained about 11% over one year and roughly 0.4% over seven days. That slow, steady climb fits a token whose value is meant to accrue yield, and it looks very different from a typical volatile crypto chart. Daily trading volume was about $1.7 million, which is modest next to its market cap.

Because ONyc is minted and redeemed against a contract-calculated NAV, supply can change as people deposit and redeem. The circulating-versus-total gap is worth understanding before relying on any single supply figure. The data does not describe a conventional emission schedule or team allocation, so none is assumed here.

Chains and how it is held or traded

ONyc is issued on Solana and is not the native token of any chain. Holders typically keep it in a Solana wallet that supports SPL tokens, and it can be traded on Solana markets. OnRe has said it built dedicated liquidity infrastructure around the token, including routing through Titan, which aggregates liquidity from multiple sources to improve access.

Minting and redemption go through OnRe's own contract and process, and that route may have eligibility rules, so check the project's current documentation before assuming it is open to everyone. Secondary-market trading through decentralized exchanges is another way to hold exposure, and the price there can differ slightly from the NAV.

In DeFi, ONyc has been integrated with Kamino, where it can be used as collateral. Separately, a news item reported that Forward planned to deploy up to $25 million into ONyc, and that OnRe raised $5 million. Those are reported plans and funding news, not endorsements, and they do not change the risk profile.

History and notable events

The launch date is not given in the data, but the price history shows trading from at least July 2025. One article in the results describes growth from about $11 million to $167 million in under a year, though that figure is a snapshot from the source and differs from the market capitalization at the time of writing.

Notable events in the results include the Kamino integration, the Titan-powered liquidity engine announced in September 2026, a newer maturity feature for fixed-rate and leveraged strategies, and the reported $5 million raise alongside Forward's planned allocation of up to $25 million. The project positions itself as a way to connect digital asset allocators to what it calls a $750 billion reinsurance market.

The data shows no major depeg or exploit, but the absence of such events is not proof that none occurred. Check the project's own channels and independent audits for the full record.

Risks

The main risks are different from those of an ordinary crypto token. First, the yield depends on real-world reinsurance performance. Large catastrophe losses could reduce returns or hurt principal, and the claim that returns are uncorrelated with markets is a project claim, not a guarantee. Second, structure and legal risk: the token represents exposure to an off-chain fund issued through a Cayman-style segregated company structure, so holders rely on the issuer, its managers and its legal setup.

Third, collateral risk. With sUSDe as current collateral, ONyc inherits risks from that asset and its issuer. Fourth, smart contract risk applies to both OnRe and integrated protocols like Kamino, and leveraged looping can lead to liquidation. Fifth, liquidity: daily volume is small relative to market cap, so large exits may be hard or costly, and redemptions may have their own timing or limits.

Finally, targeted yields such as 14% or 16% are not promises. Anything described as a floor or fixed rate is only as reliable as the structure behind it. This page is not financial advice.

How to store it safely

Because ONyc is an SPL token on Solana, any wallet that supports Solana tokens can hold it. A hardware wallet paired with a reputable Solana wallet app is the safer choice for larger amounts, since it keeps the private keys offline. Write the recovery phrase on paper, store it somewhere secure and never type it into a website or share it.

Check the token's mint address from OnRe's official documentation before buying or swapping, since lookalike tokens are common on Solana. Be careful with wallet connection prompts and signature requests, and revoke approvals you no longer need. If you use ONyc as collateral on Kamino or similar platforms, keep a safe buffer against liquidation and monitor positions.

If you mint or redeem directly, use only the official OnRe interface and confirm any eligibility or identity requirements there. Keep records of transactions, because tax treatment of yield-bearing tokens varies by country.

By the numbers

OnRe Tokenized Reinsurance in numbers

OnRe Tokenized Reinsurance (ONYC) is ranked #237 by market capitalisation, with a market cap of about $119M and a price of $1.16 as of Nov 6, 2026. Its fully diluted valuation is $308M, so roughly 39% of the eventual supply is in circulation today; tokens still to be released could add selling pressure.

The price was up 0.3% over 7 days, up 0.8% over 30 days, up 11.1% over the past year. It is trading at or near its all-time high of $1.17.

About 102.86M ONYC are in circulation, from a total supply of 265.31M. No hard maximum supply is listed.

24-hour trading volume was about $1.72M, or 1.4% of its market cap: low turnover, so large orders can move the price.

ONYC has token contracts on Solana. Always check the contract address before buying or bridging: copycat tokens often reuse a well-known name and ticker.

CoinGecko groups ONYC under Real-world asset (RWA) tokens.
