## What is Goldfinch (GFI)?

Goldfinch is an Ethereum-based credit protocol designed to connect crypto with real-world lending. Rather than requiring borrowers to provide crypto collateral equal to or greater than a loan, the protocol focused on assessing credit and lending through on-chain pools. Its Prime product offered on-chain exposure to private credit, a type of lending generally made outside public bond markets.

Goldfinch is now winding down, and it is not accepting new deposits. That changes how readers should understand the project: its original lending model and products explain the protocol’s purpose, but they should not be taken as a sign that new lending opportunities are available. The token is GFI. It is an Ethereum-issued token associated with the protocol, not a claim to a share of a company or a promise of income.

## What is GFI used for?

GFI was designed for protocol governance and for incentive-related functions in Goldfinch’s lending system. Historical uses included voting on protocol matters and staking-related roles for participants such as auditors and supporters. These functions were intended to help coordinate activity and align participants’ incentives; they did not remove the risk that loans could be delayed or default.

With Goldfinch winding down and no new deposits being accepted, the practical role of GFI may be narrower than its original design suggests. Do not assume that holding GFI currently provides access to private credit, creates a right to repayment, or guarantees voting rewards. The status and availability of particular token functions can depend on protocol changes and governance decisions. Check current official Goldfinch communications before relying on any claimed use, and distinguish an announced or historical function from one that is active today.

## Supply and blockchain

GFI was issued on Ethereum; public sources do not identify it as the native token of another blockchain. Ethereum-issued tokens are commonly held and transferred using Ethereum-compatible wallets, but transactions on Ethereum require ETH for network fees. Always confirm that a wallet or service supports the correct GFI token before sending assets, and be cautious of tokens with similar names or symbols.

As of 2026-11-05, the reported circulating supply was about 95.2 million GFI, with a total and maximum supply of about 114.3 million. These are supply figures, not a measure of demand or value. At the same date, GFI was reported at about $0.033 and its market capitalization at about $3.1 million; both figures can change quickly. They are a snapshot, not a forecast or an indication of what a holder can sell tokens for.

## Risks and storage

GFI carries both token-market risk and risks tied to the credit protocol. The wind-down and halt on new deposits may reduce the token’s practical uses, while governance activity or product changes could affect its role. Lending also involves borrower default, delayed repayment, and limitations on recovering funds. A token’s price can move sharply, and a small market capitalization or trading volume can make it harder to trade at a desired price. No token supply figure or past price establishes future value.

If you choose to hold GFI, use a wallet that supports Ethereum tokens and protect its recovery phrase offline. A hardware wallet can reduce exposure to some online threats, but it cannot prevent mistakes such as sending tokens to the wrong address. Never share your recovery phrase or approve an unfamiliar wallet transaction. Review current protocol announcements and wallet details, and do not treat GFI as a deposit, guaranteed yield product, or direct claim on Goldfinch borrowers’ repayments.

By the numbers

Goldfinch in numbers

Goldfinch (GFI) is ranked #2,032 by market capitalisation, with a market cap of about $3.01M and a price of $0.0316 as of Nov 6, 2026. Its fully diluted valuation is $3.61M, so roughly 83% of the eventual supply is in circulation today; tokens still to be released could add selling pressure.

The price was down 10.4% over 7 days, down 18.1% over 30 days, down 89.6% over the past year. It trades about 100% below its all-time high of $32.94, set on Jan 11, 2022.

About 95.24M GFI are in circulation out of a maximum supply of 114.29M (83% issued).

24-hour trading volume was about $12.4K, or 0.4% of its market cap: low turnover, so large orders can move the price.

GFI has token contracts on Ethereum. Always check the contract address before buying or bridging: copycat tokens often reuse a well-known name and ticker.

GFI FAQs

What is Goldfinch (GFI)?

GFI is an Ethereum-issued token associated with the Goldfinch credit protocol. It was designed for governance and incentive-related roles in the protocol.

What is the GFI token used for?

GFI was designed for protocol voting and staking-related functions for participants. Goldfinch is winding down, so check current official communications rather than assuming every historical function remains active.

Can I deposit into Goldfinch now?

Goldfinch is not accepting new deposits as it winds down. Its former lending products should not be treated as currently open investment opportunities.

Which blockchain is GFI on?

GFI was issued on Ethereum. Use a wallet that supports Ethereum tokens, verify the token and destination address before sending, and keep ETH available for network fees.

What is the supply of GFI?

As of 2026-11-05, circulating supply was about 95.2 million GFI, while total and maximum supply were about 114.3 million. Supply and market figures can change, so treat these as dated estimates.

What is the market cap of Goldfinch?

As of Nov 6, 2026, Goldfinch had a market cap of about $3.01M, ranking #2,032 among cryptocurrencies by market capitalisation. Market cap is price multiplied by circulating supply, so it moves with the price.

What is the all-time high of GFI?

Goldfinch's all-time high is $32.94, reached on Jan 11, 2022. Its all-time low is $0.0250 (Sep 16, 2026). Past prices say nothing about future returns.

What is the circulating supply of GFI?

As of Nov 6, 2026, about 95.24M GFI were in circulation, against a maximum supply of 114.29M.

Which blockchains is GFI on?

It has token contracts on Ethereum.
