## What is Elastos (ELA)?

Elastos is a blockchain project aimed at supporting a more decentralized internet, with tools for identity, data storage and peer-to-peer communication. Its broader vision, called the SmartWeb, combines blockchain with other software components so applications and digital assets can operate with more user control over data. ELA is the project’s token and is described as the basic token of the Elastos platform. It is used for transactions and fees, and may also be transferred or traded like other crypto assets.

The project was founded by software engineer Rong Chen and launched in December 2017. Its flagship software product is called elastOS, which is intended to bring parts of the ecosystem together in one application. These are project goals and design aims, not a guarantee that every feature is widely used or available. ELA’s practical usefulness depends on the services, applications and network activity that develop around Elastos.

## Network design and chains

Elastos describes its consensus approach as hybrid: it combines Bitcoin’s SHA-256 hash power with Delegated Proof of Stake (DPoS). In broad terms, SHA-256 mining contributes computational security, while DPoS uses token-holder voting to select or support network participants. The project’s description presents this combination as a way to secure its blockchain while supporting a wider software ecosystem. The exact mechanics and current operating status of network components should be checked in current Elastos documentation before you rely on them.

The project’s architecture also refers to sidechains, peer-to-peer communication, decentralized storage and decentralized identifiers (DIDs). These components are intended to support applications and digital ownership beyond simple payments. ELA is associated with the Elastos ecosystem, but public sources identify issued versions on Ethereum and Heco and does not list a native-token chain here. That distinction matters: an ELA token held on one network may not be interchangeable with a version on another without a supported transfer method.

## ELA uses and supply

ELA’s stated uses include paying transaction fees, making transfers and participating in the Elastos platform. Its role in practice depends on which Elastos services are active and whether an application accepts ELA. The project has described decentralized identity, data services and sidechains as parts of its broader platform, but those goals should not be mistaken for a guarantee of demand for the token. Check the requirements of a specific application before sending ELA or connecting a wallet.

As of 2026-11-05, the reported circulating supply was about 23.1 million ELA, with total supply around 26.2 million and a stated maximum of about 28.2 million. These figures are a dated snapshot and can change as tokens enter circulation. On that same date, ELA traded at about $0.52, with a market capitalization near $12 million. Those market figures move constantly and can differ between exchanges; they are context, not a valuation or forecast.

## Risks and storage

ELA carries the risks common to smaller crypto assets: its price can move sharply, trading may be limited, and a quoted price may not reflect the amount available at that price. The token’s value also depends on whether Elastos can maintain its network, attract developers and users, and deliver useful applications. Technical changes, bugs, governance decisions and changes in support for the Ethereum or Heco versions can affect access and usability. A token’s presence on a chain does not by itself establish that every bridge or exchange route is safe.

For storage, use a wallet that explicitly supports ELA on the exact network where your tokens are held. Confirm the network and recipient address before a transfer; sending tokens to an incompatible address or chain can make them difficult or impossible to recover. Keep recovery phrases private and offline, and never share them with someone claiming to provide support. A hardware wallet may reduce exposure to online account compromises, but it does not remove risks such as user error, faulty software or loss of recovery information.

By the numbers

Elastos in numbers

Elastos (ELA) is ranked #1,203 by market capitalisation, with a market cap of about $10.6M and a price of $0.4573 as of Nov 6, 2026. Its fully diluted valuation is $12.0M, so roughly 88% of the eventual supply is in circulation today; tokens still to be released could add selling pressure.

The price was up 46.6% over 7 days, up 17.0% over 30 days, down 64.5% over the past year. It trades about 99% below its all-time high of $89.14, set on Feb 23, 2018.

About 23.09M ELA are in circulation out of a maximum supply of 28.22M (82% issued).

24-hour trading volume was about $1.14M, or 11% of its market cap: high turnover.

ELA has token contracts on 2 chains we track, including Ethereum, HECO. Always check the contract address before buying or bridging: copycat tokens often reuse a well-known name and ticker.

CoinGecko groups ELA under Layer 1 tokens.

ELA FAQs

What is ELA used for?

ELA is the basic token associated with the Elastos platform. Its stated uses include transaction fees and transfers, while its practical role depends on the services and applications that support it.

What is the maximum supply of ELA?

The reported supply snapshot as of 2026-11-05 was about 23.1 million circulating, 26.2 million total and a maximum of about 28.2 million ELA. Supply figures can change, so treat these as dated values.

Which blockchains support ELA?

Public sources list ELA issued on Ethereum and Heco. Check the network shown in your wallet or exchange before depositing or transferring, because tokens on different networks may need different addresses and transfer routes.

How does Elastos work?

Elastos describes its consensus as a hybrid of Bitcoin’s SHA-256 hash power and Delegated Proof of Stake. The project also describes sidechains and tools for identity, storage and peer-to-peer communication as parts of its wider design.

How can I store ELA safely?

Use a wallet that explicitly supports ELA on the network holding your tokens. Verify the network and address before sending, and protect your recovery phrase; a transfer to an incompatible chain may not be recoverable.

What is the market cap of Elastos?

As of Nov 6, 2026, Elastos had a market cap of about $10.6M, ranking #1,203 among cryptocurrencies by market capitalisation. Market cap is price multiplied by circulating supply, so it moves with the price.

What is the all-time high of ELA?

Elastos's all-time high is $89.14, reached on Feb 23, 2018. Its all-time low is $0.2262 (Jul 20, 2026). Past prices say nothing about future returns.

What is the circulating supply of ELA?

As of Nov 6, 2026, about 23.09M ELA were in circulation, against a maximum supply of 28.22M.

Which blockchains is ELA on?

It has token contracts on Ethereum, HECO.
