Games dApps are blockchain-based games where a wallet replaces the usual login and some in-game assets, like characters, land, cards or currency, are recorded on-chain. Players can often trade or sell these assets outside the game itself. Genres range from collectible card games and virtual worlds to arcade titles and casino-style games.

Most of these games make money in a few ways: selling starter items or passes, taking a cut of marketplace trades, charging network or in-game fees, and issuing a native token that ties the economy together. Play-to-earn designs pay players in tokens, but those rewards only hold value if new players and demand keep coming. That makes the economy as important as the gameplay.

We have no games dApps listed on our site yet, so there are no leaders to name here. Once entries are added, compare the blockchain the game runs on and its fees, how much of the game really sits on-chain, the token and marketplace design, how active the player base is, and whether the team is public and has had its smart contracts audited. If a game includes betting or other gambling features, you must be 18+ (21+ where required) and check that online gambling is legal where you live.

Frequently asked questions

What is a blockchain game or gaming dApp?

A blockchain game is a game where some part of the experience, such as items, characters, currency or rewards, is recorded on a blockchain. Players usually connect a crypto wallet instead of creating a classic account. The depth of blockchain use varies a lot, from a few collectible items to a full on-chain economy.

Can you really earn money playing blockchain games?

Some games let you earn tokens or NFTs through play, but earnings depend on the game's economy, token demand and how many other players are active. Rewards can fall sharply or vanish, and you may need to spend money up front. Treat any income as uncertain and never rely on it.

Do I actually own my in-game items?

In many games, yes. Items minted as NFTs can often be sold on a marketplace, which is the main difference from traditional games. Real ownership still depends on the game continuing to operate and on there being buyers, so an item can lose most of its value if the game loses players.

Are blockchain games free to play?

Costs vary. Some games are free to try, while others require you to buy a character, a pass or tokens before you can play properly. You will also pay network fees on most chains whenever you move assets or sign a transaction. Check the total entry cost before you commit.

Are gaming dApps safe to use?

Connecting a wallet and approving transactions carries real risk, including fake game sites, malicious approvals and token price swings. Use a separate wallet with limited funds, read what you are signing, and only use links from the official team. No game is risk-free.

Are there age or legal limits for games with gambling features?

Some games in this space include gambling features such as betting, loot boxes or casino-style mechanics. You must be 18 or older, or 21 or older where local law requires, and you should check that online gambling is legal where you live before playing. Never use tools to get around location, age or identity checks.

What is the largest game by TVL?

LazyFi is the largest game by total value locked, with $56. It is followed by Thrive On Mars ($1). TVL figures come from DefiLlama and change daily.

Which game has the highest DappsAtlas score?

Match Fighters has the highest score at 6.0/10. Scores weigh security, ease of use, fees and features, and are based only on facts we could verify.

How many games does DappsAtlas track?

DappsAtlas tracks 28 games. Of these, 28 have a full review and 2 report value locked, $57 in total.

What chains do most games run on?

Ethereum is the most common, with 3 of 28 games, followed by BNB Chain (2) and Tron (2). 0% are deployed on more than one chain.
