Volo Vault Review 2026: Sui Yield Vaults and the April Exploit

Volo Vault is the yield-vault arm of Volo on Sui, alongside its vSUI liquid staking. An April 2026 exploit and vault freeze are the main thing to weigh before depositing.

Our verdict on Volo Vault

5.4/10

Volo Vault suits Sui users who want yield on SUI or BTC-related assets without managing strategies themselves, and who accept smart-contract and curator risk. Its main strength is a simple, no-lockup product that pairs liquid staking with vaults. The main caveat is the April 2026 exploit and vault freeze reported in public reporting, which raises doubts about vault security. Recovery updates are encouraging, but read the full post-mortem and start small.

What is Volo Vault?

Volo is an earn hub on Sui. It started with vSUI, a liquid staking token for SUI, and now offers vaults for other major Sui assets, including BTCFi-related tokens, with one-click deposits.

DefiLlama lists Volo under Risk Curators on Sui only, with about $546K in TVL, two listed audits and the token NAVX. The listing dates from October 2023. The site footer credits NAVI, and public reporting mentions a partnership between NAVI Protocol and Volo.

The most important recent event is the security incident. Public reporting from April 2026 report that Volo froze its vaults after about $3.5 million was drained, with a post-mortem planned. A later recovery update says the remaining funds the attacker acquired were recovered and that net loss was down to roughly $60K. Those details come from search snippets, so read the official post-mortem.

How Volo Vault works

Volo has two main products on Sui. In liquid staking, you stake SUI and receive vSUI. The staked SUI earns validator rewards, which are reflected in the token, and you can hold or use vSUI while the underlying SUI stays staked.

Volo Vaults work differently. You choose a vault for a supported asset, deposit it, and the vault runs a curated strategy intended to earn yield. The homepage describes three steps: choose a vault, stake your assets, and earn automatically as rewards compound. Because strategies are chosen and managed by the team and its partners, DefiLlama classes the project as a risk curator.

A veModel handles governance. Users lock the Volo token for voting power, share in protocol revenue and vote on where assets are allocated. The homepage marks the governance forum and proposal pages as coming soon.

Key features

01

vSUI liquid staking

Stake SUI and receive vSUI, a liquid token that keeps accruing staking rewards and can be held while staked.

02

One-click yield vaults

Deposit assets into curated strategies with one click. The homepage says supported assets include major Sui assets and BTCFi-related tokens.

03

No lockups

The homepage says users can enter new positions or unstake anytime, with no lockups.

04

Performance tracking

APRs, activity and overall strategy results are tracked on the site so users can follow how each vault performs.

05

veModel governance

Users lock the Volo token to gain voting power, share protocol revenue and vote on how assets are allocated.

06

Stable vault products

Public reporting mentions a Dowsure stable vault with additional incentives, which points to stable-yield products alongside the staking vault.

Pros and cons

What we like

  • Combines liquid staking and yield vaults in one app on Sui
  • Homepage states there are no lockups and that users can unstake anytime
  • Three audit reports from OtterSec, Movebit and Hacken are listed for voloSUI liquid staking
  • Published recovery updates report that the remaining attacker funds were recovered and net loss reduced to about $60K
  • Performance, APRs and activity are tracked for transparency

Watch out for

  • Public reporting report a roughly $3.5 million drain from Volo vaults in April 2026, followed by a freeze and a planned post-mortem
  • The audits shown on the homepage are dated July 2023 and are described as covering voloSUI liquid staking, not the newer vault strategies
  • TVL is small, about $546K on DefiLlama, and fell 4.5% over seven days
  • Vault strategies are curated by the team, so users depend on strategy design and off-chain decisions they cannot fully verify
  • Homepage governance forum and proposal sections are marked 'Soon', so governance tooling looks unfinished
  • Branding is mixed: the site footer credits NAVI and the DefiLlama token is NAVX, while the page text refers to a $Volo governance token

Volo Vault fees

Fee details are not published publicly available for this review. The homepage shows APR figures for vaults and staking, but the page text captured here displays placeholder zeros, so no usable rate is established.

Before depositing, check each vault's page in the app and the project documentation for management, performance and withdrawal fees, plus the normal Sui network gas costs.

Is Volo Vault safe?

Volo's homepage lists audit reports from OtterSec, Movebit and Hacken, all dated July 2023, for voloSUI liquid staking. DefiLlama lists two audits. These predate the vault products and the 2026 incident, and the project does not show audits for each current vault.

Public reporting from April 2026 report a drain of about $3.5 million from Volo vaults, a freeze and a planned post-mortem. A later recovery update says remaining funds were recovered and net loss fell to roughly $60K. Vault deposits carry smart-contract risk, strategy risk and reliance on the team's curation, so only deposit what you can afford to lose. Custody is non-custodial in the sense that you use your own wallet, but vaults can be paused. Check the official post-mortem and the current status of each vault before depositing.

6 steps

How to get started with Volo Vault

  1. 1

Check that you are on the official Volo site and read the latest incident and recovery updates.

  2. 2

Install a Sui wallet and fund it with the asset you want to deposit, plus a little SUI for gas.

  3. 3

Open the app and pick either liquid staking for SUI or one of the vaults.

  4. 4

Read the vault's strategy, current APR and any pause or withdrawal notices before depositing.

  5. 5

Start with a small amount you can afford to lose and confirm the deposit.

  6. 6

Track performance in the app and keep up with team announcements and governance posts.

Who Volo Vault is for

Volo Vault is for Sui users comfortable with DeFi risk who want hands-off yield on SUI, vSUI or BTC-related tokens. It is a poor fit for anyone who wants a long, audited track record on the vault products or cannot tolerate temporary pauses.
