Premia V3 Review 2026: Arbitrum Options, Low TVL
Premia V3 is a peer-to-pool options protocol on Arbitrum that offered vanilla options and strategy vaults. Its liquidity is now tiny and the team's attention has moved to Kyan, so treat it as a legacy product.

Our verdict on Premia V3
5.0/10Premia V3 suits experienced DeFi users who want to study a documented peer-to-pool options design on Arbitrum, or who already hold PREMIA or vxPREMIA positions. Its strengths are a clear mechanism, Chainlink oracle support and a listed audit by Arbitrary Execution. The main caveat is liquidity: TVL is only about $67,500 after a steep weekly drop, and Premia Labs now promotes Kyan instead. Check pool depth and the docs before depositing, and treat Kyan as a separate product.

What is Premia V3?
Premia V3 is a decentralized options protocol on Arbitrum. It was built around peer-to-pool trading, where traders buy and sell options against liquidity pools with prices set by real-time supply and demand. It listed on DefiLlama in September 2023 and has its own token, PREMIA.
The current picture is different from the launch. Total value locked is about $67,563 and fell roughly 88% in seven days. The Premia Labs homepage now features Kyan, for options, perpetual futures and combo strategies, and Archetype, for cross-chain swaps. A December 2024 post describes V3 as the product that provided vanilla options and strategy vaults, with Kyan extending that range.
For a reader, that makes V3 more of a legacy protocol worth understanding than a venue with deep liquidity. The design, the Chainlink oracle support and the vote-escrow token model are documented, but whether markets are active enough to trade is something to check in the app.
How Premia V3 works
An option gives its buyer the right, but not the obligation, to buy (call) or sell (put) an asset at a set price. The buyer pays a premium up front. Options are a common way to express a view on volatility as well as on direction.
Premia V3 uses a peer-to-pool model. Liquidity providers deposit assets into pools, and traders buy or sell options against those pools at prices that move with real-time supply and demand. Because the pool is the counterparty, a trader does not need a matching order from another person. Chainlink oracles supply price data, and the docs say the protocol needs no maintenance.
Premia also uses vxPREMIA, a vote-escrowed form of the PREMIA token, to steer on-chain governance of liquidity mining emissions. Premia has been described as offering American-style options, which can be exercised before expiry.
6 features
Key features
01
Peer-to-pool options trading
Traders trade options against liquidity pools whose pricing responds to real-time supply and demand, rather than waiting for a counterparty order.
02
American-style options
Premia has said it offers American-style options, which can be exercised before expiry, in contrast to European-style options that settle only at expiry.
03
Chainlink oracle support
The docs say V3 has out-of-the-box support for any Chainlink oracle, which widens the range of assets that can have option markets.
04
Strategy vaults
V3 offered vanilla options plus strategy vaults, so liquidity providers could take part without managing individual option positions.
05
vxPREMIA governance
vxPREMIA is a voting-escrow token built from PREMIA balances. Governance of liquidity mining emissions is described as fully on-chain.
06
Low-maintenance design
The docs state that the V3 protocol requires no maintenance, so it does not rely on a team to keep it running day to day.
Pros and cons
What we like
- Clear peer-to-pool model that does not depend on matching individual orders
- Documented audit of V3 by Arbitrary Execution, plus earlier audits of V1
- Chainlink oracle support allows a range of underlying assets
- On-chain governance of emissions through vxPREMIA
- Premia Labs says its team has been building derivatives infrastructure since 2021 and states it has experienced researchers and financial engineers
Watch out for
- TVL is only about $67,500 and fell roughly 88% in a week, so liquidity is very thin
- The team's homepage now promotes Kyan and Archetype rather than V3, which suggests V3 is a legacy product
- Available only on Arbitrum, with no multichain option
- DefiLlama lists no audits, so the audit record has to be checked in the project's own docs
- Options are complex and can lose the full premium; the pool side carries the risk of selling options
- Exact fee levels are not stated on the pages reviewed
Premia V3 fees
The docs state that transaction fees are paid by traders who take liquidity from the pools. Percentages and any liquidity-provider or protocol revenue split are not stated in the pages reviewed, so users should check the fees page in the docs and the quote shown before they confirm a trade.
On top of protocol fees, users pay Arbitrum gas for each transaction. The newer Kyan platform is advertised with zero fees during its beta, but that applies to Kyan, not to V3.
Is Premia V3 safe?
The project's docs list an audit of Premia V3 by Arbitrary Execution and earlier audits of V1 by Solidity Finance and Certik, and the docs navigation also refers to a bug bounty. DefiLlama shows no audits for this listing, so check the audits page directly. Audits reduce the chance of bugs but do not rule out exploits, oracle issues or economic attacks.
Premia V3 is non-custodial, so users keep control of funds in their own wallet except for assets deposited into pools or positions. The main risks are smart-contract risk, option losses, and thin liquidity after a steep TVL drop. Liquidity providers who sell options can lose money if markets move sharply. The project does not mention any hack or incident. Regulation of derivatives varies by country, so check that using such products is allowed where you live.
7 steps
How to get started with Premia V3
- 1
Read the options primer and quick start in the Premia V3 docs so you understand calls, puts, premiums and exercise.
- 2
Set up a wallet such as MetaMask and add the Arbitrum One network (chain ID 42161).
- 3
Bridge or withdraw a small amount of ETH and the needed collateral asset to Arbitrum.
- 4
Check the fees page and the audits page in the docs before depositing.
- 5
Open the V3 app, connect your wallet, and review pool liquidity and quoted prices for the market you want.
- 6
Start with a small position and note the expiry, strike and maximum loss before confirming.
- 7
If you want the team's current products, review Kyan separately, since it is a different platform with its own risks.
Who Premia V3 is for
Premia V3 is for experienced DeFi users who already understand options and want to examine or use a peer-to-pool options market on Arbitrum. It also suits existing PREMIA holders who follow governance. Beginners and anyone who needs deep liquidity should look first at the project's newer products or other venues.
Premia V3 FAQs
What is Premia V3?
Premia V3 is a decentralized options protocol that runs only on Arbitrum. Traders buy and sell options against liquidity pools instead of matching with another trader order by order. It has its own token, PREMIA, and a vote-escrowed version called vxPREMIA.
Which blockchain does Premia V3 run on?
Premia V3 is documented as available only on Arbitrum One. Users need a wallet connected to that network, such as MetaMask set to chain ID 42161.
Is Premia V3 still the main product?
Premia Labs now promotes Kyan, a platform for options, perpetual futures and combo strategies with portfolio margin. A Dec 2024 post describes V3 as having provided vanilla options and strategy vaults, with Kyan expanding that range. New users will probably be pointed to Kyan.
Has Premia V3 been audited?
The project's docs list an audit of Premia V3 by Arbitrary Execution, along with earlier audits of V1 by other firms. DefiLlama shows no audits for this listing, so check the audits page in the docs yourself. An audit lowers risk but does not remove it.
What fees does Premia V3 charge?
The docs say transaction fees are paid by traders who take liquidity. Specific percentages are not shown in the pages reviewed, so check the fees page in the docs and the trade screen before trading.
Is trading options on Premia V3 risky?
Yes. Options can expire worthless, so a buyer can lose the whole premium. Pool liquidity is very low, which can mean wide pricing, and smart-contract risk applies to any DeFi protocol. Only use money you can afford to lose.
