Our verdict on Midas
7.0/10Midas suits crypto-literate investors who want exposure to managed, institutional-style strategies in a token they can hold or use in DeFi. Its main strengths are onchain proof of reserve and NAV reporting, notable venture backing and reported TVL above $700M. The main caveat is that mTokens carry market and manager risk, and fees, audits, custody details and eligibility rules are not published in the material reviewed. Read the documentation for each product before committing capital.

What is Midas?
Midas is an asset tokenization platform that brings institutional-grade investment strategies onchain. Its main product is the mToken, a token representing a professionally managed portfolio. Holders get exposure to the portfolio's returns and can use the token across DeFi.
The project has grown quickly by its own reporting. In March 2026 it announced a $50M Series A led by RRE Ventures and Creandum, with mTokens having minted over $1.7B in assets and distributed more than $37M in yield. A post from the project's X account later reported TVL passing $700M, up from over $500M at the time of the funding news.
Midas is not a stablecoin or a standard DeFi vault. Its token values move with the underlying assets, which puts it closer to a fund share than a savings product. Note also that other projects have used the name Midas, including a custodial crypto-investment platform that closed in 2022, so check you are on the right one.
How Midas works
Midas acts as an issuance layer between asset managers and onchain investors. A manager brings a strategy, and Midas wraps it in a regulatory-compliant token called an mToken. Each mToken represents a professionally managed portfolio, so its value follows the performance of what it holds.
Transparency comes from the Midas Attestation Engine, which publishes proof of reserve, NAV and price data onchain for every mToken. Anyone can compare the token against its reported backing. Because mTokens are ERC-20 tokens, they can in principle be used in other DeFi protocols as well as held.
Liquidity is the harder part with tokenized funds. Midas Staked Liquidity, announced with the Series A, aims to let holders exit instantly across tokenized products using pooled capacity, initially $40M. How redemptions work in detail and any limits on them are not published in the material reviewed.

Key features
01
mToken investment products
Managers can turn institutional-grade strategies into tokens that investors hold in a wallet. Each mToken represents a professionally managed portfolio.
02
Composable ERC-20 tokens
mTokens are described as usable across DeFi platforms, so holders are not locked into one app. Bitget's guide describes a permissionless ERC-20 token.
03
Midas Attestation Engine
The Attestation Engine delivers continuous onchain proof of reserve, NAV and price updates for each mToken. This lets users check the state of the underlying allocations.
04
Midas Staked Liquidity
MSL is meant to provide instant liquidity across tokenized products and to remove counterparty and settlement risk. It launched with $40M in capacity.
05
Tools for asset managers
Midas lets strategy managers create regulatory-compliant tokens, which suits managers who want to offer strategies onchain.
06
Planned strategy expansion
Midas plans to add tokenized strategies covering stocks, reinsurance and asset receivables, and to deepen ties with Ledger Wallet and DeFi protocols.
Pros and cons
What we like
- Clear product: tokenized managed strategies with onchain proof of reserve, NAV and price updates
- Backed by a $50M Series A led by RRE Ventures and Creandum, with Coinbase Ventures among the investors
- Reported TVL above $700M and over $1.7B in assets minted, which points to real usage
- mTokens are ERC-20 tokens meant to be usable across DeFi
- Midas Staked Liquidity aims to give instant exits across products, starting with $40M in capacity
Watch out for
- mToken value moves with the underlying portfolio, so holders can lose money, unlike with a stablecoin
- Fees, minimums, redemption terms and eligibility rules are not published in the material reviewed
- Audit reports and custody arrangements for underlying assets are not detailed here
- Returns depend on third-party strategy managers whose performance and conduct Midas does not control
- Regulatory status and investor eligibility by jurisdiction are not stated
- TVL and minted-asset figures come from company announcements and press coverage, not an independent audit
Midas fees
Midas does not publish a fee schedule in the material reviewed. Management fees, performance fees, minimums and redemption costs are not stated, and they may vary by mToken and by strategy manager.
Users would normally find these terms in each product's documentation or offering terms. Onchain transactions also carry network gas fees, which depend on Ethereum conditions.
Is Midas safe?
The material reviewed does not name audits, custody providers or insurance for Midas, so readers should look for audit reports and custody details in the project's documentation. The Attestation Engine's onchain proof of reserve and NAV reporting is a transparency measure, but it is not an independent guarantee of the assets.
Main risks are market risk from the underlying portfolios, smart-contract risk, strategy-manager risk and liquidity risk if redemptions are stressed. Midas describes its tokens as regulatory-compliant, but the specific regulators, licences and eligible jurisdictions are not stated. Check that these products are available to you where you live.
6 steps
How to get started with Midas
- 1
Read the documentation for the specific mToken you are considering, including its strategy, underlying assets and manager.

Check whether you are eligible to access the product in your country, and complete any onboarding or verification Midas requires.
- 3
Set up a compatible Ethereum wallet and fund it with the asset the product accepts.
- 4
Review the published fees, minimums and redemption terms before you subscribe.
- 5
Subscribe, then track the proof of reserve, NAV and price updates for your mToken.
- 6
Decide whether to hold the mToken or use it in a DeFi protocol that supports it, keeping in mind the added smart-contract risk.
Who Midas is for
Midas is for investors who understand that tokenized portfolios can lose value and who want onchain exposure to professionally managed strategies. It also suits asset managers looking to distribute a strategy as a compliant token. It is not aimed at people seeking a fixed, stablecoin-like return.
Midas FAQs
What is Midas?
Midas is an onchain investment platform that lets asset managers turn institutional-grade strategies into regulatory-compliant tokens called mTokens. Investors hold these tokens to get exposure to the underlying portfolios.
What are mTokens?
mTokens are tokens that represent professionally managed portfolios. Unlike a stablecoin, their value rises and falls with the performance of the underlying assets. Midas also publishes proof of reserve, NAV and price updates onchain through its Attestation Engine.
Who backs Midas?
Midas raised a $50M Series A led by RRE Ventures and Creandum. Framework Ventures, HV Capital, Ledger Cathay, North Island Ventures, Coinbase Ventures and FJ Labs also took part, according to press coverage from March 2026.
Is Midas safe?
It can be, but there is no guarantee. mTokens track the value of their underlying portfolios, so they can fall as well as rise. The yield figures reported so far (over $37M distributed) reflect past performance only.
What is Midas Staked Liquidity?
Midas Staked Liquidity is a component of what Midas calls its Open Liquidity Architecture. It is meant to give instant liquidity across tokenized investment products and launched with $40M in capacity, according to the team.
Does Midas have a token I can buy?
Midas does not appear to have its own token in the material reviewed. A 2018 project called Midas Protocol and a custodial platform called Midas.Investments that closed in 2022 are separate older names, so check you are dealing with the current mToken platform.
