Our verdict on Lantern Staked SOL
6.3/10Lantern Staked SOL suits Solana holders who want a liquid staking token from an independent Jito-client validator and like the idea of routing yield into USDC, BTC or other tokens through Wick. The Stake Manager is a useful extra even for native stakers. The main caveat is trust: no audits are listed, TVL is small, the product is new, and the team and exact fee figures are not described. Check the in-app commission and APY first.

What is Lantern Staked SOL?
Lantern Staked SOL is a liquid staking protocol on Solana. Users deposit SOL, receive lanternSOL, and earn staking rewards without locking their funds in a single validator account. It comes from Lantern, which describes itself as an independent Solana validator running the Jito client.
Beyond the token, Lantern offers two tools. Wick reallocates staking yield into other assets each epoch, and the Stake Manager lets users split, merge, send and lock native stake accounts.
DefiLlama lists the protocol on Solana with about $2.4 million in TVL, down about 16% over the past week, and it has been tracked since late January 2026. No audits are listed and the protocol has no governance token. The team and legal entity are not named.
How Lantern Staked SOL works
Staking SOL means delegating it to a validator that helps secure Solana and earns rewards. Normally the stake is locked and unstaking takes at least an epoch. Liquid staking issues a receipt token, here lanternSOL, so you can hold something that tracks your stake while it keeps earning.
When you deposit SOL into Lantern, the app stakes it through a stake pool and mints lanternSOL in the same transaction. Lantern's validator runs the Jito client, which can add MEV rewards to normal staking income. Rewards accrue to the pool, which is reflected in the token's value against SOL.
Wick is an optional layer. Instead of letting yield compound, you pick a target token and the yield is converted each epoch through Jupiter swaps. Your principal remains staked. Separately, the Stake Manager handles native stake accounts directly, including locking an account until a chosen date.
7 features
Key features
01
lanternSOL liquid staking
Deposit SOL and receive lanternSOL in the same transaction, so your stake stays liquid while it earns rewards.
02
Jito MEV validator
Lantern runs an independent Solana validator on the Jito client to earn MEV rewards on top of base staking yield.
03
Wick yield reallocation
Automatically converts staking yield each epoch into USDC, USDT, WBTC, HYPE, ZEC, xStocks or PreStocks while your principal stays staked.
04
Stake Manager
Split, merge, send, time-lock and batch-manage native stake accounts, with a dashboard showing status, validator, balance and lockup.
05
Jupiter-routed swaps
Wick conversions are routed through Jupiter to look for the best swap price on each reallocation.
06
No unstaking wait for Wick
Wick works through Lantern's stake pool, so there is no cooldown or deactivation wait for reallocation.
07
Native delegation option
Users can also delegate native SOL directly to the Lantern validator instead of using the liquid token.
Pros and cons
What we like
- Liquid token that keeps SOL usable while staked
- Jito-client validator aims to add MEV rewards to staking yield
- Wick lets users take yield in assets such as USDC, USDT or WBTC without unstaking principal
- Stake Manager offers split, merge, send, lock and batch actions for native stake accounts
- Stake Manager reportedly works with any Solana validator
- No governance token to buy or speculate on
Watch out for
- No third-party audit is listed for the liquid staking contracts
- TVL is small at roughly $2.4 million and fell about 16% over seven days
- Validator commission and APY are not given as fixed figures in the page text, so users must read them in the app
- Smart-contract, validator and stake-pool risk apply on top of normal SOL price risk
- Wick relies on external swap routing and tokens such as xStocks and PreStocks, which carry their own risks
- The team, legal entity and governance are not described
Lantern Staked SOL fees
Lantern says it has a competitive, transparent fee structure, and the homepage shows a validator commission figure and an APY figure that load inside the app. The text available here does not state the percentages, so check them on the staking page before depositing.
Standard Solana network fees and the small rent-exempt minimum for stake accounts (about 0.01 SOL) apply. Wick swaps go through Jupiter and may carry slippage or routing costs that are not itemised in the page text.
Is Lantern Staked SOL safe?
DefiLlama lists no audits for Lantern Staked SOL, and public sources do not name any security review of the stake pool or Wick contracts. The homepage describes secure data centres, a dual-server setup and protected validator keys, but these are self-reported claims with no independent verification.
Risks include smart-contract bugs, validator downtime or slashing-style penalties, depeg of lanternSOL against SOL in thin markets, and swap risk in Wick. The project is new and small by TVL. The team, legal entity and any insurance are not published. Only stake an amount you can afford to lose.

How to get started with Lantern Staked SOL
- 1
Get a Solana wallet and fund it with SOL, keeping a small amount for transaction fees.
- 2
Open the Lantern site and connect your wallet.
- 3
Check the displayed lanternSOL APY, native APY and commission on the Stake page.
- 4
Choose between depositing SOL for lanternSOL or delegating native SOL to the validator.
- 5
Confirm the transaction and check that lanternSOL appears in your wallet.
- 6
Optionally open Wick to set a target token for your yield, or the Stake Manager to organise stake accounts.
Who Lantern Staked SOL is for
Solana holders who want liquid staking with MEV-boosted yield, and who value yield-routing or stake-account tools. It is less suited to users who require audited contracts, a long track record or large liquidity depth.
Lantern Staked SOL FAQs
What is lanternSOL?
lanternSOL is the liquid staking token you receive when you deposit SOL into Lantern's stake pool. The app mints it in the same transaction as the deposit, and it represents your staked SOL plus the rewards it earns.
How does Lantern earn staking rewards?
Lantern describes itself as an independent Solana validator running the Jito client, which is built to capture MEV rewards. Rewards come from normal staking plus those MEV payouts, minus the validator's commission.
What is the APY and fee?
The homepage shows live APY and fee figures that load in the app, and the page text here does not give fixed numbers. Check the displayed lanternSOL APY, native APY and commission before staking.
What is Wick?
Wick is a tool that converts only your staking yield into a target token such as USDC, USDT, WBTC, HYPE, ZEC, xStocks or PreStocks each epoch. Your principal stays staked. Swaps are routed through Jupiter.
Is Lantern Staked SOL audited?
DefiLlama lists no audits for the protocol, and public sources do not name any. It has been listed only since January 2026, so its track record is short. Consider the risk before depositing more than you can afford to lose.
Can I use the Stake Manager without lanternSOL?
Lantern's Stake Manager is described as working with any validator on Solana. You can split, merge, send, lock and batch-manage native stake accounts, even if you do not use lanternSOL.
