Our verdict on Hypha

Hypha is not a protocol to start using. The homepage says it is shutting down on August 15, 2026, and tells users to withdraw minipool funds and redeem stAVAX for AVAX. Existing node operators and stAVAX holders should follow those steps from the official site well before the deadline. Its liquid staking design on Avalanche was straightforward, but its small TVL and the closure mean new users have no reason to deposit.

What is Hypha?

Hypha, formerly GoGoPool, is a liquid staking protocol on Avalanche. It was described as the first permissionless staking protocol built for Avalanche Subnets and node operators, serving node operators and liquid stakers with the GGP token. DefiLlama has tracked it since June 2023.

The homepage now carries an end-of-life notice. It states that GoGoPool / Hypha is shutting down on August 15, 2026, and tells users to withdraw minipool funds and redeem stAVAX for AVAX.

DefiLlama shows about $370,000 in TVL, down 1.2% over seven days, and two listed audits. Treat the project as winding down rather than as an active opportunity. Its status is listed as active only because the site is still online ahead of the shutdown date.

How Hypha works

Liquid staking protocols let users stake a token and receive a receipt token in return. On Hypha, depositing AVAX gave stAVAX, which could be redeemed for AVAX. The protocol used the deposited AVAX to back validators on Avalanche.

Node operators ran validators through minipools. By the project's description, this was meant to make launching Avalanche nodes and Subnets cheaper and faster, with the GGP token part of the system.

The homepage now carries an end-of-life notice. Users are told to withdraw minipool funds and redeem stAVAX for AVAX before the August 15, 2026 shutdown.

5 features

Key features

01

Liquid staking via stAVAX

Hypha allowed stakers to receive stAVAX, a liquid token redeemable for AVAX, instead of locking AVAX directly.

02

Minipool node operation

Node operators could launch Avalanche validators through minipools, which the homepage notice says must now be withdrawn.

03

Subnet-focused staking

The project described itself as permissionless staking infrastructure for Avalanche Subnets and node operators.

04

GGP token

GGP was the protocol token associated with the project, according to DefiLlama and the project description.

05

Listed audits

DefiLlama lists two audits for the protocol. The project does not name the auditors.

Pros and cons

What we like

  • Clear end-of-life notice on the homepage with instructions to withdraw and redeem
  • Two audits are listed on DefiLlama
  • Redemption of stAVAX for AVAX is an explicit part of the wind-down
  • Operated on Avalanche, so withdrawals use a familiar network
  • Tracked on DefiLlama since 2023, giving some public history

Watch out for

  • The protocol is shutting down on August 15, 2026, so it is not a place to start new positions
  • Users must act before the deadline to withdraw minipool funds and redeem stAVAX
  • TVL is small, at about $370,000, which points to limited liquidity and adoption
  • Its homepage gives no detail on the shutdown process beyond the headline instructions
  • The GGP token's future is not addressed

Hypha fees

Fee details are not. Past staking and node-operator fees would have been shown on the protocol's app and documentation, which are not covered here.

Because the protocol is winding down, the main cost to consider now is the Avalanche network gas needed to withdraw or redeem.

Is Hypha safe?

DefiLlama lists two audits for Hypha, but the project does not name the auditors or the scope. Liquid staking carries smart-contract risk, and the stAVAX token depends on the protocol's contracts working until redemption is done.

The key risk now is timing. Funds left in minipools or stAVAX not redeemed by the shutdown date could become harder to recover, so users should act early and rely only on the official site. No incident history is stated publicly.

6 steps

How to get started with Hypha

  1. 1

Do not open new positions, since the protocol is closing on August 15, 2026.

  2. 2

Open the official site and read the end-of-life notice for current instructions.

  3. 3

If you run a minipool, withdraw your minipool funds before the deadline.

  4. 4

If you hold stAVAX, redeem it for AVAX through the official process.

  5. 5

Keep a little AVAX in your wallet to pay Avalanche gas fees.

  6. 6

Check the official channels for the GGP token's status and any further announcements.

Who Hypha is for

This page is mainly for existing Hypha or GoGoPool users, including node operators with minipools and stAVAX holders, who need to know the shutdown date. It is not aimed at anyone looking for a new Avalanche staking option.
