## What is Visa xStock (VX)?

Visa xStock (VX) is a tokenized representation of Visa stock. It is part of the xStocks product line, which offers tokens intended to track US stocks and ETFs. VX is not Visa’s own cryptocurrency, and it is not the same as holding Visa shares through a stockbroker. The token’s value is designed to reflect the value of the underlying stock, but its price can differ from the stock price because of trading conditions, fees or other factors.

The xStocks project describes its tokens as backed 1:1 by underlying assets and as giving holders a legal claim to the value of the stock. That describes the product’s stated structure; it does not by itself establish what rights a particular holder can exercise or how claims work in every jurisdiction. VX is not a native coin used to secure a blockchain. It is a token issued on several existing networks.

## What is VX used for?

The intended purpose of VX is to give eligible users on-chain exposure to the value of Visa stock. The xStocks materials say the tokens can be traded on centralized and decentralized exchanges and integrated with DeFi protocols. This may allow a token to be used in supported on-chain applications, but whether a particular exchange or protocol accepts VX depends on that service and the network involved.

Tokenized stock exposure is not identical to owning the stock directly. Public sources do not specify that VX holders receive shareholder voting rights, direct dividend payments, or the ability to redeem tokens for Visa shares. Before using VX, check the product’s current terms for the rights attached to the token, eligibility requirements, fees, redemption process and any limits on transfers. The project describes xStocks as compliant with EU regulations and accessible to non-US users, but access and legal treatment can vary by location. Check local rules and the product terms rather than assuming VX is available everywhere.

## VX supply

As of 2026-11-05, the reported circulating supply of VX was about 1,004 tokens, while total supply was about 306,908. No maximum supply was reported. These figures can change, and circulating supply is not necessarily the same as the number of tokens available for trading. The difference between the reported total and circulating amounts is substantial, so readers should not treat the circulating figure as a complete picture of future token availability.

Supply figures alone do not explain how new tokens are created, removed, or matched to underlying assets. Public sources do not set out those mechanics for VX. For a fuller picture, review the issuer’s current disclosures, including how backing is documented, whether tokens can be minted or redeemed, and what controls apply. Any market price or supply-based valuation can shift over time; historical or current figures do not establish what VX will be worth later.

## Supported chains and storage

VX is reported as issued on Arbitrum, BNB Chain, TON, Mantle, Ethereum and Solana. It is not listed as the native token of any of these networks. A token on one chain is a separate on-chain asset from a token representation on another, so do not assume balances move between networks automatically or that every version has the same liquidity and available services.

To hold VX, use a wallet that supports the specific network and token standard you need. Confirm the network and token contract through an official project source before receiving or transferring tokens; lookalike tokens can use the same name or symbol. A transfer sent on the wrong network may be difficult or impossible to recover. If using a centralized exchange, check its supported deposit and withdrawal networks and any restrictions. If using a self-custody wallet, protect the recovery phrase offline and never share it. Wallet compatibility does not guarantee that VX can be traded, redeemed or used in a DeFi app.

## Risks to understand

VX carries risks beyond the movement of Visa’s share price. Its value may not track the stock exactly, and trading can be thin or fragmented across exchanges and chains. The token also depends on the arrangements that support its backing and on the issuer’s ability to maintain those arrangements. Review the terms and disclosures to understand custody, redemption rights, fees, and what happens if an issuer or service provider fails.

There are also smart-contract, network, bridge and wallet risks. A technical failure, exploit, congestion or mistaken transfer could affect access to tokens. Regulatory rules may restrict who can buy or hold VX, and access can change by country. The xStocks description of backing and a legal claim is not a substitute for checking the applicable terms or getting qualified advice about your rights. Tokenized stock exposure does not make VX equivalent to a brokerage-held share, and using VX in DeFi can add risks from the separate protocol. Do not rely on price movements or supply figures as a prediction of future performance.
