What USDu is

USDu is a stablecoin that aims to hold the value of one U.S. dollar. According to the project description, it is issued by Unitas Labs and is described as yield bearing. On Solana it follows the SPL token standard.

The stated backing is cash and short-duration U.S. Treasury instruments, held with regulated custodians. The project also says it publishes on-chain proof-of-reserves data so anyone can check collateral levels. These are the issuer's own claims. This page has not verified them, and a reader should check the reserve data directly before relying on them.

One point of confusion is worth flagging. Several stablecoins use a similar name or the ticker USDU. Some web results describe a separate product called Universal USD, aimed at institutional settlement in the UAE. This page is about the Unitas Labs token tracked under the name USDu. Before you buy or send anything, confirm the exact contract address or mint address from the issuer's official channels, because look-alike tokens are common in crypto.

What the token is used for

The project description says USDu works as a dollar-denominated settlement asset. Once minted, tokens can move between wallets, exchanges and DeFi applications on Solana.

Minting and redemption directly with the issuer are described as compliant and limited to KYC-verified counterparties. In practice, most ordinary holders would not mint or redeem with the issuer. They would get USDu on the secondary market, from a exchange or a decentralized exchange, and sell it there as well.

The yield-bearing label suggests the token is meant to pass on some return from its reserve assets. the public information available here do not explain how that return reaches holders, whether through the token price, a separate staked version, or something else. Check the issuer's documentation for the mechanism, any fees, and who is eligible.

In short, USDu is mainly a way to hold or move dollar value on-chain, with a yield feature layered on top. It is not a governance token and public sources name no other utility.

Supply and market snapshot

At the time of writing (as of 2026-11-05), about 51.2 million USDu were in circulation, and the total supply is the same figure. No maximum supply is listed. That fits how stablecoins usually work: the supply expands when new tokens are minted against reserves and shrinks when tokens are redeemed.

The market capitalization was about $51.1 million, which put it around rank 437 by that measure. The fully diluted value matches the market cap because circulating and total supply are equal.

The price was about $0.999, close to the one-dollar target. Over the past 7 days it moved by roughly 0.003 percent, and over the past year it was down about 0.05 percent. The recorded all-time high was about $1.028 on 2026-11-02, and the all-time low was about $0.957 on 2026-02-05. Those swings are small in dollar terms but show that the peg has not been perfectly fixed.

There is no conventional tokenomics schedule such as team allocations or vesting, since the token is a reserve-backed stablecoin rather than a fundraising token. Fee and yield terms are not given.

Chains and how it is held and traded

USDu is listed as issued on Solana and BNB Chain. The project description focuses on Solana, where it uses the SPL standard. It is not the native token of any chain.

You can hold it in any wallet that supports the relevant network and token. On Solana that means a wallet able to display SPL tokens. On BNB Chain it means one that supports that network. The same ticker on two chains means two separate token contracts. Sending to the wrong network, or to an address that does not support the token, can result in lost funds.

For trading, USDu is described as moving across exchanges and DeFi applications. Reported trading volume was thin: about $10,753 over 24 hours as of 2026-11-05, against a market cap of roughly $51 million. Low volume means there may be little liquidity at a given moment. Larger orders can face slippage, and the price on a small venue can drift from one dollar more easily. Check the order book or pool depth before trading any meaningful amount.

History and notable events

The launch date is not given, so this page does not state one. What the price history shows is that the token has traded for most of 2026 at least, with a low near $0.957 on 2026-02-05 and a high near $1.028 on 2026-11-02.

The token sits in the Unitas ecosystem and is categorized as a yield-bearing stablecoin on both the Solana and BNB Chain lists. No hacks, depegs of note, regulatory actions or audits are recorded supplied, and this page makes no claims about them.

Some public reporting describes a different token, Universal USD, being brought to Solana in October 2026 and being listed on Crypto.com, with a UAE and institutional focus. Those results use the same ticker and a similar description, but public sources do not link them to Unitas Labs. Treat them as a separate project unless the issuers state otherwise. Readers who want the history of USDu should read the issuer's announcements and any published attestation reports.

Risks

Stablecoins carry risks that differ from ordinary crypto price risk.

Reserve and custody risk. The peg depends on the reserves being real, liquid and properly held. Proof-of-reserves data helps, but it is only as reliable as its scope and who produces it.

Redemption access risk. Direct redemption is limited to KYC-verified counterparties. Ordinary holders must sell on the market, so in a stress event the market price can fall below one dollar even if reserves are intact.

Liquidity risk. Daily volume was very small compared with the market cap as of 2026-11-05, so exiting a large position could be difficult.

Yield risk. A yield-bearing design can add complexity and risk beyond a plain dollar token. The source of the yield and any conditions on it should be understood first.

Smart contract and bridge risk. Bugs, upgrade permissions or issuer freezes could affect balances. Issuers of regulated stablecoins often retain the ability to freeze tokens.

Name confusion. Similar tickers exist, which raises the chance of buying the wrong asset.

This is not financial advice, and nothing here predicts how the price will behave.

How to store it safely

Because USDu is an on-chain token, the main choice is where it sits. Exchange accounts are convenient but you rely on the exchange. A self-custody wallet gives you control of the keys and with them full responsibility.

If you self-custody, use a reputable wallet for Solana or BNB Chain, depending on the version you hold. Write your recovery phrase on paper or metal, store it offline, and never type it into a website or share it with anyone claiming to offer support. For larger amounts, a hardware wallet adds protection against malware.

Before every transfer, check that the network matches on both sides and send a small test amount first. Verify the token's mint or contract address against the issuer's official channels, since fake tokens with the same name appear in wallets and can be airdropped to you. Do not interact with unexpected tokens or approve unfamiliar requests.

Finally, keep in mind that an issuer may be able to freeze tokens held at specific addresses. Keep records of where your tokens came from in case of questions.

By the numbers

USDu in numbers

USDu (USDU) is ranked #444 by market capitalisation, with a market cap of about $48.8M and a price of $0.9982 as of Nov 6, 2026. Its fully diluted valuation ($48.8M) is close to its market cap, so little new supply is still to come.

The price was down 0.0% over 7 days, down 0.1% over 30 days, down 0.1% over the past year. It trades about 3% below its all-time high of $1.03, set on Nov 2, 2026.

About 48.88M USDU are in circulation. No hard maximum supply is listed, so new tokens can still be issued.

24-hour trading volume was about $226K, or 0.5% of its market cap: low turnover, so large orders can move the price.

USDU has token contracts on 2 chains we track, including Solana, BNB Chain. Always check the contract address before buying or bridging: copycat tokens often reuse a well-known name and ticker.
