## What is Swell (SWELL)?

Swell is an Ethereum-based liquid staking and restaking protocol for people who want to stake ETH while keeping a token they can use in decentralized finance. SWELL is the protocol’s governance token; it is different from the liquid staking or restaking tokens associated with depositing ETH. Holding SWELL does not, by itself, mean you have staked ETH or are earning staking rewards. The protocol’s liquid staking and restaking products are the services, while SWELL is used in the project’s governance and token-related mechanisms. Public information also describes SWELL as an asset used in a fee-flow auction mechanism for protocol revenue, though the precise operation and terms of that mechanism may change. Swell has also described using SWELL alongside other assets to help secure services associated with Swell L2. These functions do not guarantee that holders receive revenue or that the token has a fixed value. Check current Swell documentation before relying on a particular use.

## What is SWELL used for?

SWELL is primarily associated with governance of the Swell ecosystem. Governance can allow token holders to take part in decisions about a protocol, but the practical influence of a holder depends on the rules, proposals, and voting arrangements in force at the time. The project has also described SWELL as the exclusive asset used to purchase protocol revenue through fee-flow auctions. This is a token utility, not a promise of distributions: an auction mechanism does not establish that every holder receives revenue, or that the value of SWELL will rise. Swell has additionally described using SWELL, together with tokens such as rswETH and swBTC, to support services connected with Swell L2. That role should not be confused with ETH staking rewards or with a claim that SWELL itself represents staked ETH. Users should check the current protocol and governance materials to confirm which functions remain active, how participation works, and whether any requirements apply.

## SWELL supply and market information

The maximum supply is 10 billion SWELL. As of 2026-11-05, about 5.22 billion tokens were reported as circulating, out of a total supply of about 8.86 billion. Circulating supply is the amount counted as available in the market; total supply also includes tokens that are not currently counted as circulating. The difference can matter because tokens entering circulation may affect available supply, depending on how and when they are released. These figures can change, so check current token information before making decisions. On the same date, SWELL’s market capitalization was about $3.4 million and its fully diluted valuation was about $5.7 million. Those are snapshots, not stable measures of value. The reported price was about $0.00065, but price, trading activity, and valuation can move substantially. Past highs or lows do not establish what the token will be worth in the future.

## Chain and storage

SWELL is issued on Ethereum, and it is not listed here as the native token of a blockchain. Ethereum issuance means holders generally need an Ethereum-compatible wallet to hold or transfer it. Before sending or receiving tokens, confirm the correct SWELL asset and network using Swell’s official information; tokens with similar names or tickers may be unrelated. If a wallet or exchange supports SWELL on another network, confirm the network and any bridge arrangements before transferring, since sending assets to an incompatible address or chain can lead to loss. Use a reputable wallet, keep recovery phrases and private keys secret, and consider a hardware wallet for long-term self-custody. Never share a recovery phrase with someone claiming to provide support. Custodial platforms may offer different protections and withdrawal conditions from a wallet you control, so understand who holds the keys and what risks apply.

## Risks to understand

SWELL carries both token-market risks and risks tied to the Swell protocol. Its price can be volatile, and the token’s market capitalization or trading volume does not guarantee that you can sell at a particular price. Governance influence and proposed token utilities can change, while the fee-flow mechanism may not produce a direct benefit for every holder. The wider liquid staking and restaking ecosystem also depends on smart contracts, validators, integrations, and operational choices; failures or vulnerabilities can cause losses or disrupt services. Restaking adds additional technical and service-specific risks beyond simply holding a token. SWELL is not the same as ETH and does not automatically provide ETH staking yield. Review the current protocol documentation, token rules, and wallet or exchange terms, and only use products whose risks you understand. Do not treat historical performance or project descriptions as a guarantee of future outcomes.

By the numbers

Swell in numbers

Swell (SWELL) is ranked #1,985 by market capitalisation, with a market cap of about $3.23M and a price of $0.0006179 as of Nov 6, 2026. Its fully diluted valuation is $5.44M, so roughly 59% of the eventual supply is in circulation today; tokens still to be released could add selling pressure.

The price was down 11.9% over 7 days, down 25.9% over 30 days, down 87.4% over the past year. It trades about 99% below its all-time high of $0.0696, set on Nov 9, 2024.

What is SWELL used for?

SWELL is associated with governance in the Swell ecosystem and has been described as an asset used in fee-flow auctions. Its exact functions depend on the protocol’s current rules and do not guarantee revenue for holders.

Does holding SWELL earn ETH staking rewards?

No. SWELL is the protocol’s token, while liquid staking and restaking products represent separate services and assets. Holding SWELL does not by itself stake ETH or earn ETH staking rewards.

Which blockchain is SWELL on?

SWELL is issued on Ethereum. Use an Ethereum-compatible wallet and verify the correct token and network before transferring, since an incorrect asset or network can result in loss.

What is the maximum supply of SWELL?
