## What is Scroll (SCR)?
Scroll is an Ethereum layer 2 network built for compatibility with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM). It uses zero-knowledge rollup technology to handle activity away from Ethereum’s main network, with the aim of scaling transactions while retaining a connection to Ethereum. EVM compatibility means developers can use familiar smart-contract languages such as Solidity or Vyper, and many Ethereum applications and tools can work with Scroll with little or no modification.
SCR is Scroll’s associated token, not the network itself. The network can host smart contracts and decentralized applications; SCR is a separate crypto asset that may have governance functions. The distinction matters: using an app on Scroll does not necessarily require holding SCR, and an application’s activity does not by itself establish demand for the token. Check each app’s requirements and the network selected in your wallet before sending assets or signing transactions.
## What is SCR used for?
Public descriptions identify SCR primarily as a governance token for the Scroll ecosystem. They describe it as a token intended to support governance of the network and, eventually, the Scroll DAO and its treasury. That points to a role in community decision-making, but it does not mean every holder can automatically vote on every issue: voting rules, eligibility and the proposals open for a vote depend on the governance process in effect.
Some descriptions also discuss a possible role for SCR in coordinating network participants. The information available here does not establish that SCR is required to pay transaction fees, or that every described function is already active. Do not assume that holding the token provides a share of revenue, a guaranteed vote, or a claim on Scroll’s assets. For a particular proposed use, check whether Scroll has announced it as live and review the relevant governance rules before relying on it.
## SCR supply and market figures
SCR has a maximum and total supply of 1 billion tokens. About 190 million were circulating as of 2026-11-05, or roughly 19% of the maximum supply. The difference between the circulating and total figures means a substantial amount was not counted as circulating at that time. The exact timing and effect of future releases can matter to holders, but the figures here do not establish a release schedule or explain the terms for every allocation.
As of 2026-11-05, SCR traded at about $0.0197, with a market capitalization of about $3.7 million and a fully diluted valuation of about $19.7 million. These are time-sensitive estimates, not fixed values. The market capitalization uses circulating supply, while fully diluted valuation estimates the value if the full supply were counted at the same price. Neither figure predicts future prices or tells you whether SCR is suitable for you.
## Chains and storage
Scroll is listed as both the native-token network and the only chain on which SCR is issued available here. That does not rule out later changes or third-party representations of the token, so check the asset’s network and contract details before making a transfer. Sending a token on the wrong network can make it difficult or impossible to recover.
To store SCR, use a wallet that supports the Scroll network and the relevant token. Keep your recovery phrase private and offline; anyone who obtains it may be able to control the wallet. Confirm the network and token contract using Scroll’s official information before adding an asset or signing a transaction. Be cautious of unsolicited messages, fake support accounts and unexpected approval requests. A wallet connection does not mean an application is trustworthy, and a wallet cannot reverse a transaction confirmed on-chain.
## Risks to consider
SCR can lose value quickly. As of 2026-11-05, its reported price was about 86% lower than a year earlier; past movement does not indicate what it will do next. Crypto markets can also have low liquidity, and a quoted market price may not be the price available for a particular trade. Unreleased supply, if and when it enters circulation, may affect the balance between available tokens and demand.
There are also project and technical risks. Scroll competes with other scaling networks, and EVM compatibility does not guarantee that developers or users will choose it. Rollups, bridges, smart contracts and wallets can have software or security failures. SCR’s governance role and any other proposed uses may change, and the token does not represent a guaranteed claim on network revenue. Research the network, token rules and your local requirements; do not commit money you cannot afford to lose.
By the numbers
Scroll in numbers
Scroll (SCR) is ranked #1,915 by market capitalisation, with a market cap of about $3.60M and a price of $0.0189 as of Nov 6, 2026. Its fully diluted valuation is $18.9M, so roughly 19% of the eventual supply is in circulation today; tokens still to be released could add selling pressure.
The price was down 2.7% over 7 days, down 27.2% over 30 days, down 88.0% over the past year. It trades about 99% below its all-time high of $1.43, set on Dec 12, 2024.
About 190M SCR are in circulation out of a maximum supply of 1B (19% issued).
24-hour trading volume was about $1.37M, or 38% of its market cap: very high turnover.
SCR is the native token of Scroll. Always check the contract address before buying or bridging: copycat tokens often reuse a well-known name and ticker.
CoinGecko groups SCR under Layer 2 tokens, Zero-knowledge (ZK) tokens.

SCR FAQs
What is SCR used for?
SCR is described primarily as a governance token for the Scroll ecosystem. Public descriptions also discuss possible roles in network coordination, but the information here does not confirm that every proposed function is active.
Is Scroll an Ethereum layer 2?
Scroll is an Ethereum layer 2 network designed for EVM compatibility and built using zero-knowledge rollup technology. SCR is the associated token, rather than the network itself.
What is the supply of SCR?
SCR has a maximum supply of 1 billion tokens. About 190 million were circulating as of 2026-11-05; supply and market figures can change over time.
Which network is SCR on?
Public sources list Scroll as the only chain on which SCR is issued. Use a wallet that supports Scroll, and verify the network and token details before transferring funds.
What are the risks of holding SCR?
SCR carries market, governance and technical risks, and its price can change sharply. Review the token’s current rules and consider that you could lose some or all of the money you put into it.
What is the market cap of Scroll?
As of Nov 6, 2026, Scroll had a market cap of about $3.60M, ranking #1,915 among cryptocurrencies by market capitalisation. Market cap is price multiplied by circulating supply, so it moves with the price.
What is the all-time high of SCR?
Scroll's all-time high is $1.43, reached on Dec 12, 2024. Its all-time low is $0.0177 (Nov 5, 2026). Past prices say nothing about future returns.
What is the circulating supply of SCR?
As of Nov 6, 2026, about 190M SCR were in circulation, against a maximum supply of 1B.
Which blockchains is SCR on?
SCR is the native token of Scroll.
