What Purr is

Purr (PURR) is a cat-themed meme token issued on Hyperliquid L1, the high-performance trading-focused blockchain behind the Hyperliquid exchange. It is described as the first spot token launched on that chain. Other projects later issued spot tokens using the same native token standard, known as HIP-1, and PURR is often called the test case that came before them.

The project's own description is blunt: there was no sale and there is no planned utility. PURR is a community-held token with a cat theme, not a product with a roadmap. On market data pages it is grouped under meme coins, cat-themed tokens, and the Hyperliquid and HyperEVM ecosystems.

It helps to watch for ticker confusion. The symbol PURR is also used elsewhere. One result in our research is a listed company that holds HYPE, the Hyperliquid native token, as a treasury asset, and its shares trade under a similar ticker. Another is a different memecoin on Base, an Ethereum layer 2. Neither is the Hyperliquid L1 token covered here, so check the chain and contract details before interacting with anything labeled PURR.

What the token is used for

Publicly, PURR has no defined use. The team behind the launch states that it was released with no planned utility, so it does not grant governance rights, fee discounts, or access to a service as far as public sources show.

In practice, people hold and trade PURR for the same reasons they trade other meme tokens: community identity, speculation, and its place in Hyperliquid's history as the first spot asset. It is also traded on Hyperliquid's own spot market, where it can be paired with other assets.

Because there is no utility to anchor demand, the token's value rests on attention and market sentiment. That is a defining feature of meme coins generally and not specific to PURR. Anyone reading about a supposed use case for PURR should confirm it against the project's own statements, especially given that other assets share the ticker.

Supply and tokenomics

The maximum supply was set at 1 billion PURR. According to the project description, 500 million were distributed to holders of points in proportion to their points, and 400 million were initially deployed as Hyperliquidity, a built-in on-chain liquidity mechanism called HIP-2. Those 400 million were then burned.

The design is described as deflationary: trading fees paid in PURR are burned, which reduces supply over time. Data as of 2026-11-05 shows about 594.7 million PURR in circulation, with total supply at the same figure. That is a little under the roughly 600 million left after the initial burn, which fits with ongoing fee burns, though the exact burn history is not laid out in the data we have.

Because circulating and total supply match, the fully diluted valuation equals the market cap, at about $68.4 million at the time of writing. The remaining details of the distribution, such as vesting schedules, are not given, and the description mentions no team or investor allocation.

Chains and how it is traded

PURR is issued on Hyperliquid L1 and is not the native gas token of any chain. It is also tagged as part of the HyperEVM ecosystem, the EVM-compatible environment connected to Hyperliquid, so you may see it represented in wallets and apps there.

The most direct way to trade it is through Hyperliquid's spot market, using a wallet connected to the platform. Some centralized exchanges and aggregators may also list a PURR market, but listings change and you should verify which asset and network a listing refers to.

As of 2026-11-05 the token ranked around 354 by market cap, with about $1.4 million in 24-hour trading volume. That volume is small relative to its market cap, which can mean wider spreads and noticeable price moves on larger orders. Always check the token's identifier on the platform you use, since a lookalike token on another chain, such as the Base memecoin with a similar name, is a different asset.

History and notable events

PURR's place in crypto history comes from timing. It was the first spot launch on Hyperliquid L1, acting as a stress test for the token standard and the on-chain liquidity system before other projects deployed their own tokens. The launch date is not given in the data we have, so it is left out here.

Price history shows how volatile it has been. Its all-time high was about $0.69 on 2024-12-16, and its all-time low was about $0.042 on 2025-12-18. As of 2026-11-05 the price was around $0.115, up about 8.2 percent over seven days and about 12.4 percent over one year, according to public data. Those moves are historical and say nothing about what comes next.

Coverage in 2026 also frequently mixes up the token with the similarly ticketed listed company that holds HYPE. Articles about share-price moves for that company do not describe the PURR token.

Risks to understand

The main risk is that PURR has no stated utility, so its price depends on sentiment. The range between its all-time high and low shows how sharply that can swing, and a drop of the kind seen since late 2024 can happen again.

Liquidity is a second concern. With daily volume in the low millions of dollars, large orders can move the price, and exiting a position may cost more than expected in slippage.

There is also platform risk. The token lives on Hyperliquid L1, so it depends on that chain's technology, validators, and the health of the exchange built on it. Smart-contract and bridge issues can matter if the token moves into HyperEVM or other environments.

Finally, impersonation risk is real. The ticker is shared with a Base memecoin and a listed company, and scam tokens often copy popular names. Verify the network and contract or asset ID before buying. Nothing here is investment advice, and you should only risk money you can afford to lose.

How to store it safely

Self-custody gives you the most control. Use a wallet that supports Hyperliquid and HyperEVM, and write down the recovery phrase on paper or metal, stored offline in a private place. Never type it into a website, share it in a chat, or save it in cloud notes.

A hardware wallet adds protection for larger holdings, because transaction approvals happen on a separate device. If you trade on Hyperliquid, remember that assets deposited to the exchange are subject to the platform's own risks, so consider moving what you are not actively trading to a wallet you control.

Before sending any funds, do a small test transfer and confirm the network and address. Be careful with unsolicited messages, fake airdrop claims, and approval requests from unfamiliar sites, since revoking permissions later can be hard to do in time. Keep your device software updated, and use a dedicated wallet for experimenting with meme tokens rather than your main savings.

By the numbers

Purr in numbers

Purr (PURR) is ranked #380 by market capitalisation, with a market cap of about $60.5M and a price of $0.1017 as of Nov 6, 2026. Its fully diluted valuation ($60.5M) is close to its market cap, so little new supply is still to come.

The price was down 17.9% over 7 days, down 27.9% over 30 days, down 7.2% over the past year. It trades about 85% below its all-time high of $0.6900, set on Dec 16, 2024.

About 594.66M PURR are in circulation out of a maximum supply of 1B (59% issued).

24-hour trading volume was about $2.45M, or 4.0% of its market cap: moderate turnover.

PURR has token contracts on Hyperliquid L1. Always check the contract address before buying or bridging: copycat tokens often reuse a well-known name and ticker.

PURR FAQs

What is Purr (PURR)?

PURR is a cat-themed meme token issued on Hyperliquid L1. It was the first spot token launched on the chain and is mainly known for that role and for its community following.

Does PURR have any utility?

The project states there was no sale and there is no planned utility. People hold it mainly as a meme asset and as a piece of Hyperliquid history.

What is the supply of PURR?

Maximum supply was 1 billion. Half was distributed to points holders and 400 million deployed as Hyperliquidity were burned. As of 2026-11-05 about 594.7 million were in circulation, with trading fees paid in PURR also burned.

Is PURR the same as Hyperliquid Strategies or the Base memecoin?

No. The Hyperliquid L1 token is separate from a listed company that holds HYPE and uses a similar ticker, and from a different memecoin on Base. Always check the network and asset details before trading.

Where can PURR be traded?

It trades on Hyperliquid's spot market, and other venues may list it too. Confirm that any listing refers to the Hyperliquid L1 token, and check local rules before trading.
