What Populous is
Populous is a peer-to-peer invoice platform founded in 2017, during the peak of the blockchain boom of that period. Its aim is to help businesses turn unpaid sales invoices into cash sooner. A seller offers an invoice to an invoice buyer at a discount, the buyer pays the seller upfront, and when the debtor pays the full invoice, the buyer receives the agreed amount. The project describes invoice finance as a way to release cash tied up in outstanding sales. Populous uses blockchain distributed ledger technology to run this marketplace, and it says the platform covers many industries that traditional lenders often avoid. The project is a finance product first, and the PPT token is one part of its design rather than a standalone product.
What PPT is used for
According to the project's own description, PPT is used alongside a liquidity pool that funds invoice trades. An investor makes an initial purchase of PPT, and those tokens are then held in escrow as collateral while the investor takes part in the process. In return, the investor receives Pokens, the units used to buy and sell invoices. The number of Pokens depends on a percentage of the token's market value, which the description gives as the lesser of 50 percent or a 30-day market average. Trades draw from or add to the pool as invoices are bought and sold. The project says the built-in liquidity means no regular transaction fees apply, and the only fees are linked to late payments. Some search listings suggest wider uses such as arbitrage, but those are not confirmed in the project material reviewed here, so demand for PPT depends largely on activity on the Populous platform.
Supply and market data as of 2026-11-05
As of 2026-11-05, the data showed PPT at about $0.189 per token, with a market capitalization of about $9.9 million and a fully diluted valuation of about $10.1 million. The token ranked 1257 by market capitalization. About 52.35 million tokens were circulating, out of a total supply of about 53.25 million. The data did not list a fixed maximum supply, although some search listings give a figure equal to the total supply and describe the token as deflationary; this page has not verified that description. Trading volume over 24 hours was very small, about $3,265, so prices can move sharply on few trades. Over seven days the price was down about 10 percent, and over one year it was up about 612 percent. The all-time high was $75.19 on 2018-01-27, and the all-time low was about $0.0066 on 2024-07-12. These figures change constantly and are not a guide to future prices.
Chains, risks and storage
PPT is issued on Ethereum, and the data lists no separate native chain for it. Holders therefore need a wallet that supports Ethereum tokens, and the token contract must be the official one. Storage is the main practical point: in a self-custody wallet you control the private keys, and losing them means losing access to the tokens. Tokens held on an exchange are controlled by that exchange, which adds counterparty risk. Other risks to weigh include very low trading volume and a small market value, which can make it hard to sell near a quoted price; a sharp one-year gain followed by recent weakness; dependence on one platform's invoice activity; the fact that the team kept tokens that were not released in the initial sale, which can affect supply; and the added legal and operational complexity of collateral arrangements. Scam tokens often copy project names, so check any address against official project sources. This page is information only and not financial advice.
By the numbers
Populous in numbers
Populous (PPT) is ranked #1,191 by market capitalisation, with a market cap of about $10.7M and a price of $0.2039 as of Nov 6, 2026. Its fully diluted valuation ($10.9M) is close to its market cap, so little new supply is still to come.
The price was down 4.6% over 7 days, up 71.5% over 30 days, up 577% over the past year. It trades about 100% below its all-time high of $75.19, set on Jan 27, 2018.
About 52.35M PPT are in circulation, from a total supply of 53.25M. No hard maximum supply is listed.
24-hour trading volume was about $4.40K, or 0.0% of its market cap: low turnover, so large orders can move the price.
PPT has token contracts on Ethereum. Always check the contract address before buying or bridging: copycat tokens often reuse a well-known name and ticker.
