## What is IBMX?
International Business Machines xStock (IBMX) is a token designed to represent exposure to IBM stock on supported crypto networks. The project describes xStocks as tokenized stocks backed 1:1 by underlying assets and says they provide a legal claim to the value of the related stock. That is different from holding IBM shares directly through a brokerage: the rights attached to IBMX depend on the product’s terms, issuer arrangements and the laws that apply to you. The token does not itself run a blockchain or provide computing services; it is an asset token. xStocks are presented as usable in decentralized finance, but whether IBMX can be used in a particular app depends on that app’s support and rules. Tokenization can make a stock-linked asset available through crypto infrastructure, but it does not remove the risks of the underlying stock or guarantee that the token will always trade at the same value as IBM shares.
## How IBMX is intended to work
The stated purpose of IBMX is to provide on-chain access to value linked to IBM stock. The xStocks project says its tokens are composable with DeFi protocols and can be accessed through supported centralized and decentralized exchanges. In practice, you would need to check whether a particular exchange or dApp supports IBMX on the specific network you intend to use. Token availability, trading pairs, transfers and any DeFi functions can differ by platform and jurisdiction. The project also describes xStocks as compliant with EU regulations and accessible to non-US users; these statements do not mean the product is available or suitable for every person in every country. Check the current product terms and local rules before using it. Public sources do not establish that IBMX holders receive voting rights, dividends, or the same protections and services as direct shareholders, so do not assume those rights are included.
## Supply and market figures
As of 2026-11-05, reported circulating supply was about 4,414 IBMX, with total supply about 349,796 and no maximum supply reported. These figures can change, and circulating supply is much smaller than total supply; the difference is worth keeping in mind when assessing the token. At that date, the reported price was about $256.67, market capitalization about $1.1 million, fully diluted valuation about $89.8 million, and 24-hour trading volume about $2,941. These are snapshots, not stable characteristics or forecasts. A low trading volume can make it harder to buy or sell a token at a preferred price, and the quoted market price may differ from the value of IBM shares. The reported figures do not explain the terms for issuing, redeeming or distributing IBMX. Review current issuer documentation and trading conditions rather than relying on a historical snapshot.
## Chains, storage and risks
IBMX is reported as issued on Arbitrum, Solana, Ethereum and BNB Chain. These are separate networks: a token on one chain is not automatically interchangeable with a token on another, and sending it to an unsupported network or address can result in loss. Use a wallet that supports the correct network and confirm the token contract through a trustworthy, current source before transferring or interacting with it. Key risks include changes in IBM’s share price, differences between IBMX’s market price and the underlying stock value, limited liquidity, issuer or backing arrangements, smart-contract vulnerabilities, and changes in regulation or platform access. The 1:1 backing description is a project claim, not a guarantee against operational or legal problems. Crypto assets can also be lost through compromised devices, mistaken transactions or poor key management. Keep recovery phrases private and offline, and do not share them with anyone claiming to provide support.
