## What is Indigo Protocol (INDY)?

Indigo Protocol is a decentralized synthetic-assets protocol built on Cardano. It lets users create iAssets, which are designed to track the price movements of assets without requiring users to own those underlying assets. The project describes iUSD as a native stablecoin in the Cardano ecosystem; its synthetic assets include exposure to assets such as bitcoin. Creating iAssets involves collateral, with ADA and stablecoins described as possible collateral currencies.

INDY is Indigo’s governance token. It is used in Indigo DAO voting, through which token holders can participate in decisions about the protocol. INDY is not itself a synthetic asset, a stablecoin, or a share in an incorporated company. The DAO is described as controlling the protocol and related project property. The key distinction is that iAssets provide the intended price exposure, while INDY is for governance. Neither token guarantees a particular return or gives holders ownership of the assets that iAssets track.

## What is INDY used for?

INDY’s stated role is to support governance of Indigo Protocol through the Indigo DAO. Holders can use the token to take part in community decisions about the protocol. The project describes the DAO as community-led, with governance covering the protocol and its related application and intellectual property. Voting rights are a way to participate in decisions; they do not make INDY a claim on Indigo’s revenue, collateral, or assets.

Users generally interact with the protocol’s synthetic products rather than using INDY to represent an underlying asset. For example, Indigo describes iAssets as instruments that aim to reflect the price of other assets, while iUSD is presented as a Cardano stablecoin. The protocol’s ability to create those products and their market behavior are separate from INDY governance. Token holders should check current governance procedures and proposal rules before taking part, as the mechanics and available proposals may change. Do not assume that holding INDY automatically provides a yield or other benefit.

## INDY supply and market snapshot

Indigo’s stated total and maximum INDY supply is 35 million tokens, with six decimal places of precision. The project says the maximum supply is to be distributed to protocol users, stakers, and liquidity providers over four years, and that it did not plan a community pre-sale through an ICO, ISO, or ISPO. These are project distribution details, not a guarantee of future demand or token value.

As of 2026-11-05, reported circulating supply was about 20.45 million INDY. On that date, the token’s price was about $0.09, market capitalization about $1.8 million, fully diluted valuation about $3.2 million, and 24-hour trading volume about $3,300. These are time-sensitive snapshots and can change quickly; trading volume in particular was relatively low in this snapshot. Market capitalization and fully diluted valuation are calculated measures, not funds held by the protocol. They should not be treated as forecasts or as a measure of how easily a token can be sold.

## Cardano network and storage

INDY is issued on Cardano, according to the available project and token information. It is not identified here as the native token of a separate blockchain, and it does not secure a network through mining or consensus. Cardano is the chain to consider when checking a wallet, token address, or transaction. A token sent using the wrong network or to an incompatible address may be difficult or impossible to recover.

For self-custody, use a wallet that supports Cardano assets and verify that it can hold the correct INDY token before transferring funds. Confirm the token identity through reliable project information rather than relying on a name or ticker alone, since token symbols can be copied. Keep recovery phrases offline and private, and never share them with a person or site claiming to offer support. A custodial service may hold tokens on your behalf, but that adds service-provider and withdrawal risks. Check current network fees and wallet compatibility before sending a small test transfer if appropriate.

## Risks to understand

INDY carries governance and market risks. Token prices can fall sharply, and low trading volume can make it harder to buy or sell at a desired price. The dated market figures above are only a snapshot. A fixed maximum supply does not ensure that demand will rise or that INDY will retain value. Governance participation also depends on the DAO’s rules, voter turnout, and how decisions are implemented; holding the token does not guarantee influence over any particular outcome.

Indigo’s synthetic products have separate risks. Their intended exposure to another asset depends on the protocol, collateral, market liquidity, and mechanisms used to maintain or manage prices. A synthetic asset may not track its reference asset as expected, and a stablecoin may not remain at its target value. Smart-contract defects, operational failures, changes to Cardano, or governance decisions could affect the protocol or assets. Before using Indigo or holding INDY, understand which risks apply to each product and avoid committing funds you cannot afford to lose. This is general information, not individualized financial advice.

By the numbers

Indigo Protocol in numbers

Indigo Protocol (INDY) is ranked #2,540 by market capitalisation, with a market cap of about $1.68M and a price of $0.0820 as of Nov 7, 2026. Its fully diluted valuation is $2.87M, so roughly 58% of the eventual supply is in circulation today; tokens still to be released could add selling pressure.

The price was down 12.7% over 7 days, down 38.5% over 30 days, down 85.0% over the past year. It trades about 98% below its all-time high of $4.50, set on Jul 13, 2023.

About 20.45M INDY are in circulation out of a maximum supply of 35M (58% issued).

24-hour trading volume was about $4.33K, or 0.3% of its market cap: low turnover, so large orders can move the price.

INDY has token contracts on Cardano. Always check the contract address before buying or bridging: copycat tokens often reuse a well-known name and ticker.

INDY FAQs

What is INDY used for?

INDY is the governance token used in Indigo DAO voting. It is distinct from Indigo’s iAssets, which are designed to provide synthetic price exposure.

What blockchain is INDY on?

Indigo Protocol is built on Cardano, and INDY is issued on Cardano. Check that your wallet and the token address support the correct Cardano asset before transferring tokens.

What is the supply of INDY?

Indigo states a total and maximum supply of 35 million INDY. About 20.45 million were reported as circulating on 2026-11-05; circulating supply can change.

Is INDY a stablecoin?

INDY is not described as a stablecoin. It is a governance token, and its market price can fluctuate; a fixed maximum supply does not guarantee a stable value.

How do I store INDY?

A Cardano-compatible wallet can hold INDY if it supports the correct asset. Protect your recovery phrase, verify the token identity, and confirm compatibility before sending funds.

What is the market cap of Indigo Protocol?
