## What Is Index Cooperative (INDEX)?
Index Cooperative, also called Index Coop, is a decentralized autonomous organization that develops onchain financial products. INDEX is its governance token: holders can vote on proposals that shape the DAO and its products. The project’s products include sector indexes, automated leverage and inverse products, and yield strategies. These are separate from the INDEX token itself; holding INDEX does not mean you hold the assets in an index product or receive a guaranteed return. Index Coop’s products use Set Protocol technology, and the project describes them as self-custodial. Product availability and operation can depend on the networks and contracts involved, so check the details of a specific product before using it.
## What Is INDEX Used For?
INDEX’s stated role is governance rather than payment for a service or a claim on company revenue. Token holders can participate in decisions about Index Coop, such as proposals concerning its products and direction. The project describes voting power on a one-token, one-vote basis, meaning each INDEX token counts as one vote under that model. This gives holders a way to take part in DAO decisions, but it does not guarantee that a proposal will pass or be implemented exactly as submitted. Participation also requires access to the relevant governance process and the ability to use the token on a supported network. Governance tokens may have limited influence if voting participation is low or voting power is concentrated among a small number of holders.
## INDEX Supply and Supported Networks
As of 2026-11-05, the reported circulating supply was about 7.07 million INDEX, with a total supply of about 9 million and a maximum supply of 10 million. The supply figures can change as tokens move between categories or are distributed, so check current information before relying on them. On that date, INDEX traded at about $0.28, with a market capitalization of about $2 million; these are time-sensitive figures, not a valuation or forecast. INDEX is issued on Ethereum and Polygon. It is not listed as the native token of either chain. Index Coop products may operate on Ethereum, Arbitrum, or Base, but that does not mean INDEX is issued on all of those networks. Confirm the network and token details before transferring funds.
## Risks and Storage
INDEX can be affected by crypto-market volatility, and its price may change substantially. Its governance role does not guarantee demand, liquidity, or a financial return. The DAO also depends on token-holder participation, and concentrated voting power or low turnout can affect decisions. Separately, Index Coop products involve smart-contract and operational risks; leveraged or yield strategies can lose value, and product risks should not be confused with the risks of holding INDEX. For storage, use a wallet that supports the relevant network, such as Ethereum or Polygon, and protect its recovery phrase offline. Never share that phrase or sign a transaction you do not understand. Before sending tokens, verify that the wallet, network, and token contract match the intended asset. A transfer on the wrong network may be difficult or impossible to recover.
By the numbers
Index Cooperative in numbers
Index Cooperative (INDEX) is ranked #2,477 by market capitalisation, with a market cap of about $1.81M and a price of $0.2563 as of Nov 7, 2026. Its fully diluted valuation is $2.31M, so roughly 79% of the eventual supply is in circulation today; tokens still to be released could add selling pressure.
The price was down 7.7% over 7 days, down 1.7% over 30 days, down 68.5% over the past year. It trades about 100% below its all-time high of $67.08, set on May 8, 2021.
About 7.07M INDEX are in circulation out of a maximum supply of 10M (71% issued).
24-hour trading volume was about $30.2K, or 1.7% of its market cap: low turnover, so large orders can move the price.
INDEX has token contracts on 2 chains we track, including Ethereum, Polygon. Always check the contract address before buying or bridging: copycat tokens often reuse a well-known name and ticker.
INDEX is linked to Index Coop, which we cover in our Indexes rankings. See our Index Coop page for how the protocol works and how we score it.
