## What is GOOGLC?
Alphabet (Coinbase Tokenized Stock), ticker GOOGLC, is an onchain certificate designed to give holders economic exposure to shares of Alphabet. It is issued by Coinbase Onchain SPV Ltd in the Abu Dhabi Global Market. The token represents a beneficial interest in a pool of underlying shares and related property; it is not itself an Alphabet share or a direct holding in the company.
At issuance, each token initially represents a 1:1 beneficial interest in shares held in a segregated custody account with a regulated broker-dealer and custodian. That ratio can change to account for distributions, fees, taxes, corporate actions and other adjustments. Onchain Marketplace Ltd operates the tokenization infrastructure and maintains the definitive legal ownership register in its stated role as a Central Securities Depositary. The legal documents and eligibility rules matter: owning GOOGLC does not automatically mean you have the same rights or protections as a shareholder who holds Alphabet shares through a brokerage account.
## What can the token be used for?
GOOGLC is intended to provide economic exposure to Alphabet through a blockchain-based token. It can be held and transferred on supported networks and may be used in decentralized finance markets where it is accepted. That can make it possible to interact with a tokenized stock through compatible onchain services, but availability depends on the issuer’s rules, the holder’s eligibility and the services that support the token.
Distributions received on the underlying shares are generally reinvested after applicable taxes, fees and expenses. The resulting benefit is reflected through an adjustment to the share-to-token ratio, rather than necessarily being paid to holders as cash. Authorized Participants can create tokens by delivering underlying shares or subscription value. Holder access to creation, redemption or other services may be subject to identity checks, vesting conditions and other terms. Review the current issuer documentation before relying on any particular feature, and do not assume that every wallet or DeFi application can accept GOOGLC.
## Supply, chain and storage
The token is issued on Base, an Ethereum layer-2 network. It is not the native token of a blockchain. A compatible Base wallet may be used to hold or transfer GOOGLC where the token and the holder are supported. Some users may instead access it through a custodial service, if that service offers the token and permits the user to hold it.
The reported circulating and total supply were both about 33,493 GOOGLC as of 2026-11-05; no maximum supply was specified. Supply can change as authorized participants create or otherwise manage tokens, so this figure is a snapshot rather than a fixed limit. If you use a self-custody wallet, confirm that it supports Base and the correct GOOGLC token contract before transferring funds. Base transactions generally require the network’s gas token, and you should check wallet or network instructions for the exact requirements. Keep recovery phrases private and backed up securely; anyone who obtains them may be able to control your assets.
## Key risks to understand
GOOGLC carries risks beyond the price movements of Alphabet shares. Its value may not match the value of the underlying shares at every moment, and the share-to-token ratio can be affected by fees, taxes, distributions and corporate actions. Holders also depend on the issuer, custody arrangements, tokenization infrastructure and legal ownership register. Problems with any of these, or changes to applicable rules, could affect access to the token or its economic value.
This is a tokenized security, so access and transfer may be limited by eligibility, identity checks, vesting requirements or local law. Availability on Base does not mean every person can legally acquire or transfer it. DeFi use can add smart-contract, liquidity and counterparty risks, and a supported market may not always have enough buyers or sellers for a timely trade. Read the offering and custody terms, understand how any redemption process works, and check the rules that apply where you live. GOOGLC does not remove the risks of investing in equities or digital assets.
## How it differs from owning Alphabet stock
GOOGLC is not the same as Alphabet shares held in a conventional brokerage account. A token holder has a proportional beneficial interest under the token’s legal structure, not direct registration as an Alphabet shareholder. Do not assume that holding it gives you voting rights, a direct claim against Alphabet or the same ability to transfer or sell as an ordinary share. The governing documents determine the rights and restrictions.
If you are comparing GOOGLC with a brokerage-held stock, look at custody, legal claims, fees, tax treatment, trading hours and the process for selling or redeeming the token. The onchain format may offer transfer or DeFi functionality, but those features depend on platform support and can involve additional technical and market risks. Supply, market value and trading activity change over time; any figures should be treated as dated snapshots, not guarantees of liquidity or value. This explainer is general information, not financial, legal or tax advice.
