Our verdict on Typus DOV
6.0/10Typus DOV suits experienced DeFi users who understand options payoffs and want derivatives exposure on Sui. Its strengths are the range of products, from automated vaults to ten-minute options and perps, and capped downside for option buyers. The main caveat is that the original vault line is being sunset and TVL is under $1 million, so liquidity and long-term focus are uncertain. Fees and audit details are not clearly published. Treat it as a high-risk venue and size positions accordingly.

What is Typus DOV?
Typus DOV is the DeFi Options Vault line of Typus Finance, a derivatives protocol on the Sui blockchain. It was listed in May 2023 and lets users deposit assets into automated options strategies, or buy short-dated options with high leverage.
The product has changed. The homepage now leads with a perps relaunch and the Typus Liquidity Pool, while the SAFU vaults are closed and a search result says Typus V1 is being sunset. The homepage still links to options vaults, described as a place to review current terms and risks or manage an existing position.
On-chain value locked is about $926,000, with a small weekly change. That is modest, so users should treat Typus as a niche, higher-risk venue. The protocol has its own TYPUS token.
How Typus DOV works
An options vault pools user deposits and runs a fixed strategy, such as selling covered calls or cash-secured puts, or a call spread. The vault sells options to traders and collects the premium. That premium is the yield for depositors, and it can be offset by losses if the market moves against the strategy.
On the other side, traders buy options with short expiries, from 10 minutes up to a month. Because the buyer's maximum loss is the premium, Typus says positions carry no liquidation risk even at very high leverage. A buyer can still lose the entire premium if the option expires out of the money.
Typus has since added a perpetuals exchange and the Typus Liquidity Pool (TLP), which supplies liquidity for trading. The V1 products are being sunset, and the older SAFU vaults are closed but redeemable.

Key features
01
Automated options vaults
Vaults run automated call, put and call spread option strategies. Depositors supply assets and are paid from option premiums.
02
Short-dated options bidding
Traders can buy options with expiries ranging from 10 minutes to hourly, daily, weekly or monthly, with the stated aim of high leverage and no liquidation.
03

Typus Perps was relaunched on mainnet. The homepage describes high leverage, low fees and fast execution for perpetual contracts.
04
Typus Liquidity Pool
Users can supply assets to the Typus Liquidity Pool (TLP), which the homepage presents as a source of steady long-term rewards.
05
OTC options on Typus Pro
A separate Typus Pro interface supports OTC options, where users connect a wallet to settle or exercise positions.
06

Pros and cons
What we like
- Combines options vaults, short-dated options, perps and a liquidity pool in one Sui-based app.
- Buying options has capped downside, since the premium is the maximum loss.
- Existing SAFU vault positions can be redeemed at any time with no exit fee, per the homepage.
- Two audits are listed for the protocol.
- Offers expiries from 10 minutes to monthly, plus an OTC options interface.
Watch out for
- Total value locked is under $1 million, which is small for a derivatives protocol and can mean thin liquidity.
- The V1 products are being sunset and the SAFU vaults are closed, so the original vault product is no longer the main focus.
- Advertised returns such as triple-digit APRs and 1000x leverage are marketing figures, and options buyers can lose the whole premium.
- Runs only on Sui, so users need a Sui wallet and exposure to that single chain's smart-contract risk.
- Audit firm names, team details and fee schedules are not published on the homepage.
- The homepage shows blank totals for value locked, volume and users, so users cannot verify activity from the front page.
Typus DOV fees
Typus does not publish a detailed fee schedule in the material reviewed. The homepage describes fees as low for perps, and states that redemption from the closed SAFU vaults carries no exit fee.
Option premiums, perp trading fees, vault performance fees and Sui network gas costs would appear in the app before a user confirms a transaction. Check these on the vault or trading screen, and read the terms linked on the site.
Is Typus DOV safe?
Typus lists two audits, and the homepage has Audited By and Backed By sections, but the audit firms are not named. Like all DeFi derivatives, it carries smart-contract, oracle and market risk, and vault depositors can lose principal if a strategy performs badly. Users keep custody through their own wallet, so wallet security is the user's responsibility.
The V1 sunset and closed SAFU vaults mean users with older positions should redeem them rather than leave funds idle. No licence or regulatory status is published in the material reviewed. Check that derivatives trading is permitted where you live. High-leverage products are risky and unsuitable for money you cannot afford to lose.

Who Typus DOV is for
Typus is aimed at traders already comfortable with options, perpetuals and Sui wallets who want short-dated, high-leverage exposure or option-premium yield. It is a poor fit for newcomers looking for simple, low-risk passive income, and for holders of old V1 positions who should focus on redeeming them.
