Aarna Review 2026: Tokenized Indian Credit

Aarna is building a permissioned token platform for accessing Indian credit through an investment token settled in USD or USDC. Its first product is still in development, and regulatory review, investment risk and a high minimum are important caveats.

Our verdict on Aarna

5.5/10

Aarna may suit accredited investors seeking a planned, wallet-based route to Indian performing credit, particularly those who want USD or USDC settlement and are comfortable with a permissioned token. Its clearest strength is the described structure: a GIFT City vehicle, underlying Category II credit funds, identity-gated transfers and a stated subscription process. The main caveat is timing: ICT has not launched, and Stage 2 sandbox review is ongoing. The 8–9% figure is a target, not a guaranteed return, and the minimum investment is $25,000.

What is Aarna?

Aarna is developing the India Yield Platform, a tokenization and distribution platform for Indian financial products. Its first planned product, India Credit Token (ICT), is intended to provide eligible investors with exposure to Category II performing credit funds through a GIFT City vehicle.

ICT is not yet launched. Aarna says Stage 1 of the IFSCA FinTech Regulatory Sandbox was approved and its Stage 2 application is in review, with Q4 2026 as the target launch. This is a sandbox status, not confirmation that the product has received all approvals needed to launch.

The planned token is permissioned and identity-gated, with a stated $25,000 minimum investment. Aarna describes periodic USD or USDC distributions and an 8–9% target net USD yield, while warning that returns are not guaranteed. India Bond Token, India Sovereign Token and India Index Token are also in development or planned, rather than currently available products.

How Aarna works

Aarna's first planned product, India Credit Token, is intended to pool investor subscriptions through a GIFT City vehicle. The vehicle would invest as a single institutional investor in Category II performing credit alternative investment funds. ICT is described as a permissioned digital token, with ERC-3643 transfer controls tied to verified identity and eligibility claims.

Investors are expected to connect a wallet, complete KYC and accredited-investor checks, and receive an ONCHAINID claim before subscribing. Aarna says subscriptions and redemptions will use an ERC-7540 asynchronous vault built on ERC-4626, with ICT minted at the NAV for the relevant cycle. The planned settlement options are USD bank wire or USDC, and distributions are described as periodic payments in USD or USDC.

Aarna presents an 8–9% net USD yield as a target based on historical underlying-fund performance after FX hedging and expenses. It is not guaranteed. The product also depends on the performance of its underlying credit investments and on the vehicle, its service providers and the token infrastructure operating as intended.

Pros and cons

What we like

  • The proposed investment structure and underlying asset type are described in concrete terms.
  • Transfer eligibility is designed to be enforced at the token level through identity claims.
  • The planned product supports both USD bank-wire and USDC subscription and distribution routes.
  • Aarna identifies the target minimum, yield range and periodic distribution approach.

Watch out for

  • India Credit Token (ICT) is not yet launched; the stated target is Q4 2026, subject to regulatory review.
  • The 8–9% net USD yield is a target based on historical fund performance, not a guaranteed return.
  • Investors face credit risk from the underlying Category II performing credit funds and currency-hedging risk.
  • The $25,000 minimum investment and accredited-investor checks limit access.
  • Aarna does not publish specific platform fees or audit details on its site.

Aarna fees

Aarna does not publish specific platform or transaction fee amounts. Its stated target yield is net of FX-hedging costs, platform fees and vehicle expenses, but this does not show the individual charges. Investors should check the product documents and subscription materials for the applicable costs before committing funds.

Is Aarna safe?

Aarna says it is non-custodial, with investors holding tokens in their own wallets, and describes identity and eligibility checks through Sumsub and ONCHAINID. This does not remove risks tied to the smart contracts, wallet security, issuer and vehicle operations, underlying credit funds, or the FX hedging used to target USD returns.

Aarna states that Stage 1 of the IFSCA FinTech Regulatory Sandbox was approved and Stage 2 is in review. Its site does not establish that ICT has launched or that the offering has received final authorization. Aarna does not publish audit details or a smart-contract audit report on its site. The target yield is not guaranteed, and investors could lose money. Review the final legal and product documents before investing.

Who Aarna is for

Aarna is aimed at accredited investors who can meet the planned $25,000 minimum and want exposure to Indian performing credit through a wallet-held, permissioned token. It is not suited to investors seeking an already-live product, unrestricted token transfers or guaranteed income.
