What VBILL is
The VanEck Treasury Fund, which trades under the symbol VBILL, is a tokenized money-market-style fund from asset manager VanEck. Each token represents a share in the fund, and the fund aims to hold a stable value of $1 per token. It is not a typical crypto coin with its own network or governance. It is a regulated-style investment product whose share register is kept on blockchains.
According to the fund description, it invests mainly in cash, U.S. Treasury bills and repurchase agreements backed by U.S. Treasury obligations. It targets securities with maturities of 397 days or less, a dollar-weighted average portfolio maturity of 60 days or less, and an average portfolio life of 120 days or less. Those limits keep the portfolio short-term and low in interest-rate sensitivity.
The fund may also hold other pooled investment vehicles that invest in similar assets, including funds registered under the U.S. Investment Company Act of 1940. It can hold stablecoins and similar yield-bearing digital instruments too, mainly in connection with in-kind subscriptions and redemptions.
In short, VBILL is a way to hold exposure to short-term U.S. government debt in a wallet-based format rather than through a traditional brokerage account.
What the token is used for
The main purpose of VBILL is to let investors earn Treasury-bill yield while holding a token on a blockchain. The fund says it pays daily accrued dividends straight to investors' wallets as newly issued tokens. That means the price is meant to stay near $1 while the number of tokens in a wallet grows over time, rather than the price rising.
A second use has emerged in decentralized finance. Reports at the time of writing say VBILL can be used as collateral on Euler, a lending protocol, where Securitize launched a curated market for it. Holders can borrow other crypto assets against their fund tokens while the underlying Treasury yield keeps accruing. Treat this as a feature of a specific market, not a general guarantee that VBILL is accepted everywhere.
The fund also supports subscriptions made in stablecoins rather than U.S. dollars, including through a mechanism the fund documents call Atomic Swaps. That gives crypto-native investors a path to move between stablecoins and fund shares without relying only on bank transfers.
Access is aimed at qualified investors, so many ordinary retail users will not be able to buy the token directly from the issuer.
Supply and tokenomics
VBILL does not follow a typical crypto tokenomics model. There is no max supply, no emissions schedule and no team allocation. Supply expands and contracts with investor demand: tokens are created when investors subscribe and removed when they redeem. Daily dividends also add to the token count.
As of 2026-11-05, the data shows about 55.4 million tokens in circulation, equal to the total supply, with no maximum set. At a price of about $1, that gives a market capitalization of roughly $55.4 million, and a fully diluted value that is the same figure. On that date the token ranked around 410 by market capitalization among tracked assets.
The price history is essentially flat by design. The recorded all-time high and all-time low are both $1, and the seven-day and one-year changes are shown as zero. That tells you the peg has held in the data, not that it is risk free. Trading volume for the past 24 hours was not available in the data we have.
Because the token tracks fund net asset value, the meaningful metrics are the size of fund assets, the quality of its holdings and the redemption process, not token scarcity.
Chains and how it is held and traded
VBILL is issued on four networks: Ethereum, BNB Chain, Solana and Avalanche. It is not the native token of any chain, so you do not use it to pay network fees. You will still need each chain's own coin, such as ETH, BNB, SOL or AVAX, to cover transaction costs when moving it.
Reports on the launch say the token was issued with Securitize, a tokenization platform, and was designed to work across several chains. Securitize handles the token side of the product, including onboarding and transfer controls. That is typical of tokenized funds: because the shares are regulated securities-style instruments, transfers may be limited to approved wallets.
In general terms, an eligible investor completes onboarding, has a wallet approved, and then subscribes to or redeems shares through the issuer's platform. Secondary trading on open decentralized exchanges is often limited or unavailable for products of this kind, so liquidity usually comes from redemption with the fund rather than from a deep order book. Check current availability before assuming you can swap in or out at any time.
Because the same product exists on several chains, always confirm which network a given token balance sits on before sending anything.
History and notable events
VanEck announced VBILL in May 2025 as its first tokenized U.S. Treasury fund. News coverage from that period describes it going live on Ethereum, Avalanche, Solana and BNB Chain at the same time. VanEck is a large asset manager, and coverage at the launch described it as managing well over a hundred billion dollars. The recorded price history in our data starts with the first $1 print in late May 2025.
The launch fits a wider trend. Tokenized Treasury products have grown into a sizeable category, and a May 2026 report put the overall tokenized U.S. Treasury market above $15 billion. VBILL is one of many competing products in that group, and at about $55 million it is on the smaller side of that total.
A notable later development was its integration with Euler, a DeFi lending protocol. Investors could post tokenized Treasury exposure as collateral and borrow against it, which links a traditional fixed-income product directly with on-chain credit markets.
We do not have a record of any depeg, redemption freeze or governance dispute, and none is implied here.
Risks
VBILL aims for stability, but stable does not mean safe from all loss. Key risks include:
- Fund and asset risk. The value depends on the fund's holdings. Treasury bills and repurchase agreements are conservative, but repo counterparties, underlying funds and any stablecoin holdings add exposure.
- Redemption and liquidity risk. Getting out may depend on the issuer's processing windows, eligibility checks and operational status, not on open-market trading.
- Smart contract and platform risk. Token contracts, bridges or cross-chain tooling, and the tokenization platform could all contain bugs or suffer outages.
- DeFi collateral risk. If you use VBILL as collateral on a lending market, you face liquidation risk, oracle risk and the risk of the lending protocol itself failing.
- Regulatory and access risk. The token is aimed at qualified investors, and rules differ by country. Eligibility can change.
- Yield risk. Returns follow short-term interest rates and fund expenses, so they can fall.
The flat price history reflects the design of the fund, not a promise. This page is educational and is not investment advice.
How to store it safely
Because VBILL transfers are usually restricted to approved wallets, start by using a wallet that was registered during onboarding. Do not send tokens to an address you have not verified with the issuer's platform, as a transfer to a non-approved wallet may fail or be hard to reverse.
For self-custody, a hardware wallet that supports the chain you hold on is the common choice for larger balances. Keep the recovery phrase offline, never type it into a website or share it with anyone, and consider a metal backup in a separate secure location. Ethereum and BNB Chain use the same address format, while Solana and Avalanche have their own conventions, so confirm the network before every transfer. Send a small test amount first.
If you take part in a lending market such as Euler, remember that approving a contract gives it permission to move your tokens. Review approvals periodically and revoke any you no longer need. Watch loan-to-value levels so a market move does not trigger liquidation.
Keep records of subscriptions, daily dividend tokens and redemptions, since these may have tax consequences where you live.
By the numbers
VanEck Treasury Fund in numbers
VanEck Treasury Fund (VBILL) is ranked #407 by market capitalisation, with a market cap of about $55.4M and a price of $1.00 as of Nov 7, 2026. Its fully diluted valuation ($55.4M) is close to its market cap, so little new supply is still to come.
The price was down 0.0% over 7 days, down 0.0% over 30 days, down 0.0% over the past year. It is trading at or near its all-time high of $1.00.
About 55.39M VBILL are in circulation. No hard maximum supply is listed, so new tokens can still be issued.
VBILL has token contracts on 4 chains we track, including Ethereum, BNB Chain, Solana, Avalanche. Always check the contract address before buying or bridging: copycat tokens often reuse a well-known name and ticker.
