## What is Solayer USD?
Solayer USD, commonly written as sUSD and listed under the symbol SUSD, is a dollar-pegged stablecoin issued on Solana. Solayer describes it as backed by U.S. Treasury bills and designed to combine a stablecoin with yield linked to those short-term government securities. Unlike SOL, SUSD is not Solana’s network or gas token; it is a token intended to represent a dollar-denominated asset. The project says holders can redeem the underlying dollar value through the Solayer dashboard, though the practical terms and availability of redemption may depend on the service and its current rules. The project also describes sUSD as using Solana’s Token-2022 interest-bearing extension. That technical design can update token balances to reflect interest, so the balance shown by a wallet or app may not behave exactly like a conventional fixed-balance token. Check that you are dealing with the Solayer asset, not another token that happens to use a similar name or ticker.
## How the yield and dollar peg work
Solayer says sUSD’s value is intended to track the U.S. dollar, with its backing tied to Treasury bills. The project describes an annual yield of about 4%, based on T-bill returns, and says interest accrues through automatic balance updates. This is a project description, not a guaranteed rate: Treasury yields can change, and the realized return may differ from an advertised or historical figure. The token’s interest-bearing design also matters when you use it. An app may show the updated token balance, while another interface may not display the interest or balance changes in the same way. Solayer presents the token as usable through its ecosystem and says holders can request redemption through its dashboard. Before relying on that route, check the current eligibility, timing, fees, minimums and redemption process directly with the project. Do not assume that every exchange, wallet or Solana dApp supports the token’s interest-bearing features.
## Supply and market value
The supply figures available for this explainer show about 614,000 SUSD in circulation and about 614,000 in total supply, with no maximum supply reported. These are approximate figures and can change as tokens are issued, redeemed or otherwise updated. As of 2026-11-05, the quoted market price was about $1.12, above the intended one-dollar peg. That illustrates an important point: a stablecoin’s target is not a promise that every market trade will occur at exactly one dollar. Market liquidity, access to redemption and trading demand can all affect its price. The reported market capitalization was about $686,000 at that time, but market capitalization and trading activity are snapshots rather than measures of guaranteed backing or redemption capacity. Check current market and supply information before making decisions, and distinguish a quoted exchange price from the value or amount available through the issuer’s redemption process.
## Solana network and storage
SUSD is issued on Solana; public sources do not list it as a token issued on other networks. It is therefore important to select Solana when receiving or sending the asset and to use a wallet that supports the relevant Solana token standard, including Token-2022 features where applicable. Confirm the token’s mint address from an official Solayer source before transferring funds, since names and tickers can be copied by unrelated tokens. A transfer to an incompatible address or network may be difficult or impossible to recover. In a self-custody wallet, protect your recovery phrase and keep it offline; anyone who obtains it may control the assets. A wallet balance display may also handle interest-related balance updates differently, so check how the wallet presents Token-2022 assets. If you hold SUSD through a platform rather than your own wallet, review that platform’s custody and withdrawal arrangements as well as Solayer’s redemption process.
## Risks to understand
SUSD carries several risks beyond ordinary price movement. The dollar peg can weaken if trading liquidity is limited, confidence falls or redemption becomes difficult. Treasury-bill backing does not remove issuer, custody, operational or legal risks, and the published description alone does not establish how reserves are held, independently verified or protected in insolvency. The yield is variable and should not be treated as guaranteed income. Smart-contract, token-standard and wallet-integration problems could affect transfers or the way balances are displayed. There is also a reliance on Solayer’s dashboard and processes for the redemption route described by the project. Review current documentation and redemption terms, and consider whether you can tolerate delays, reduced liquidity or a loss of peg. SUSD is not a bank deposit, and holding it does not by itself ensure access to dollars on demand. These risks apply whether you hold it in a wallet, trade it on an exchange or use it in a Solana application.
By the numbers
