## What Is Exactly Protocol (EXA)?
Exactly Protocol is an open-source decentralized finance (DeFi) protocol for depositing crypto assets and borrowing against them. Its markets support both variable and fixed interest rates. The project says its fixed rates are based on how much of a pool is being used, with pools tied to different maturities. This is intended to let liquidity in a variable-rate pool support the fixed-rate markets without requiring a separate automated market maker for maturity tokens.
EXA is the protocol’s governance token. It is not the same thing as a deposit in Exactly, and holding it does not by itself mean you have deposited funds or borrowed assets. The project describes Exactly as non-custodial and open source, but using a DeFi protocol still involves interacting with smart contracts and managing your own wallet. Exactly began in 2021; its protocol launched on Ethereum in 2022 and on Optimism in 2023, according to the project’s description.
## What Is EXA Used For?
EXA’s stated purpose is governance. Holders can vote on proposals concerning protocol changes and upgrades, including matters related to treasury decisions, risk management, and smart-contract upgrades. In practice, the influence a holder has can depend on the protocol’s voting rules, proposal process, and how much voting power participates. Those details can change, so check the current governance materials before treating a particular vote or power as active.
The project’s description does not identify EXA as a token that automatically pays interest, shares protocol revenue, or gives holders a claim on deposited assets. Its listed role is voting, rather than providing a guaranteed financial return. That distinction matters: using Exactly to deposit or borrow is a separate activity from holding EXA, and each carries its own risks. A governance token may still have a market price, but that price does not establish the value of any particular proposal, the safety of the protocol, or the benefits of holding the token.
## EXA Supply and Supported Networks
EXA is issued on Optimism and Base. These are separate blockchain networks, so tokens on one network should not be assumed to be interchangeable with tokens on the other without a supported transfer or bridge process. Confirm the network and token contract through official Exactly channels before depositing, withdrawing, or sending EXA. The project’s protocol history also mentions Ethereum and Optimism deployments; that does not establish that EXA is issued on Ethereum.
As of 2026-11-05, reported circulating supply was about 5.42 million EXA, with a total and maximum supply of 10 million. These supply figures can change in how they are reported, and market figures move continuously. On that date, the token’s reported price was about $0.12 and its market capitalization about $628,000. Treat such figures as a snapshot, not a forecast or a measure of protocol safety. Check the network and current token details before relying on supply or market information.
## Risks and How to Store EXA
EXA can be volatile, and a governance token’s market value may change sharply as trading activity, liquidity, or interest in the protocol shifts. The token also carries governance risk: decisions made through voting could affect the protocol, and a small or concentrated group of voters may have outsized influence depending on participation and voting rules. Exactly’s lending markets have separate risks, including smart-contract errors, changing interest rates, collateral losses, and liquidity constraints. These are risks to understand before using the protocol; they are not removed by holding EXA.
For storage, use a wallet that supports the relevant network and the token standard used by EXA there. Keep recovery phrases and private keys offline and private, and verify the network and recipient address before sending. If using a hardware wallet, check that it supports the needed network and that you understand how to authorize transactions. Never share a recovery phrase with a website or person claiming to help. A mistaken transfer or compromised wallet may be difficult or impossible to reverse.
By the numbers
Exactly Protocol in numbers
Exactly Protocol (EXA) is ranked #3,533 by market capitalisation, with a market cap of about $634K and a price of $0.1170 as of Nov 6, 2026. Its fully diluted valuation is $1.17M, so roughly 54% of the eventual supply is in circulation today; tokens still to be released could add selling pressure.
The price was down 4.6% over 7 days, down 21.6% over 30 days, down 69.1% over the past year. It trades about 99% below its all-time high of $11.89, set on Aug 9, 2023.
About 5.42M EXA are in circulation out of a maximum supply of 10M (54% issued).
24-hour trading volume was about $698, or 0.1% of its market cap: low turnover, so large orders can move the price.
EXA has token contracts on 2 chains we track, including Optimism, Base. Always check the contract address before buying or bridging: copycat tokens often reuse a well-known name and ticker.
EXA is linked to Exactly Protocol, which we cover in our Lending rankings. See our Exactly Protocol page for how the protocol works and how we score it.

EXA FAQs
What is the EXA token used for?
EXA is Exactly Protocol’s governance token. The project says holders can vote on proposals involving protocol changes, upgrades, treasury matters, and risk management.
Which networks support EXA?
EXA is issued on Optimism and Base. Check the network and token contract before receiving or transferring it, because assets on different networks are not automatically interchangeable.
What is the supply of EXA?
As of 2026-11-05, the reported circulating supply was about 5.42 million EXA, out of a total and maximum supply of 10 million. Supply figures can be reported differently or change over time.
Does EXA pay holders interest or rewards?
The project describes EXA as a governance token, not as a token that automatically pays interest or gives holders a claim on deposits. Holding EXA alone does not mean you are earning a return.
How can I store EXA safely?
EXA may be stored in a wallet that supports its network and token standard. Confirm the network and token contract, protect your recovery phrase, and check transaction details before sending.
What is the market cap of Exactly Protocol?
As of Nov 6, 2026, Exactly Protocol had a market cap of about $634K, ranking #3,533 among cryptocurrencies by market capitalisation. Market cap is price multiplied by circulating supply, so it moves with the price.
